I've never seen a conference break a tie below first place in football. It's not necessary to seed a conference tournament, after all.

Willie and Kohawks,

Maybe it is just me, but I don't think you all should be debating on who is the rightful owner of 3rd place.  I would think that while third is a nice finish for the Spartans, it is not where the Kohawks wanted to be so pulling out tiebreaker formulas seems a tad bit redundent.

Also, question to the Kohawk fans who were at more than one game this year......Is there any logical explanation to why Northern never seems to get a carry inside of the 5 yard line?  I played a little football in my day and coached a little too, and it seems to me that if you have a 230 lb. battering ram that leads the conference in all-purpose yards, yards per carry and 2nd in rushing yards, and is good enough to get you from your own 20 to the oppostition's 5.....maybe he deserves to get rewarded.  11 rushing TDs for Suckow and 4 for Northern.  I heard that of his 31 carries this last weekend, 0 were from inside the Cornell 5!  Please enlighten me to that strategy Kohawk faithful.

After reading my own post over I wanted to add a quick disclaimer.......I am in no way trying to take away from Suckow's abilities to score or his fine season, just posing the question about the lack of scoring chances for a kid who is undoubtedly in the conversation for best player in the conference.  I just don't see the Dutch putting Schuring in at fullback at the goal line because he is a great blocker or Hammes for the Knights.

SJU fans,

The parking lot is still there to the South of the football field.  I will bring the Dutch letters.

DustySJU,

I am sure that your coach will have your team ready as will Coach Mac.  I don't think there will be anything easy about Saturday from either side of the ball.

One note to you SJU fans.  If you want Hamms you better bring it with you.  I don't think that can be bought in Iowa.  I am just guessing but I haven't seen a place of business carry the sky brewed water down here forever.

Actually, you can find Hamms at any fully stocked liquor store in Iowa (outside of Pella).

Second that Redmen.
Almost was afraid to get back on here after the long weekend (wife is a government worker so had Friday off). Went up to the Cities to watch my bro's team in the Metrodome. At least one of the teams I was pulling for won this weekend.
Congrats to Dubuque. We'll see next year if the corner has been turned over there or if Belleus was the key this year. People can talk all they want to about how good the rest of the players are, but Belleus is a lot better than pretty much everyone in the conference so we'll see how things go without him.
I echo Warthog's sentiments about the season. 8-2 in August would have sounded pretty good, but at the middle of November it sucks.
Lots of talent coming back. Losing Hammes will be tough, but I think the other backs that have carried the football this year have all had success. Its been a tradition to have a strong rushing game at Wartburg and I don't think next year will be any different. It would be nice to get a playmaking reciever. The recievers right now are good with the football, but all seem to be possession-type recievers. We need a threat to stretch the field vertically and can go up and get the ball. SOmeone to keep the safeties honest. 1 guy like that on your team can make a world of difference.
I have complete faith that Koehler and crew will get the job done and look for the Knights to probably be picked 2nd next year.
As for MVP and COY,
I think Schuring is hands-down the MVP,
Coach of the year was decided Saturday in Waverly and the nod will probably go to Brautigam even though they only finished 6-4.

How exciting that this week two legendary programs with long histories and winning traditions will meet in a game that will have national championship implications.  I think Michigan and Ohio State might have a game this week too but who cares?  Go Central!

My vote for player of the year goes to Brant Ver Meer the Central punter.  But then the only game I got to see was Homecoming vs Wartburg and he sure made the difference in that one.

What a year what a year......

I never would have thought UD would steal one from Wartburg like they did.  Though I don't think it had any affect what so ever.  Who knows though ::)

Congrats to the Dutch on another GREAT year!  Go rep the IIAC!

Also, didn't they make their all conference picks this weekend?  Someone fill me in please!!!

Congrats to all on a GREAT year!  ;D

I think they met yesterday to choose the all conference picks.  I don't know when they are released.  Maybe Walston Hoover can speak to that as to when it is made public.

These were posted earlier, and I'm sure that Charlie is the resident Coe expert... maybe a direct message to him would be in order.

Charlie - I would also give congrats to Ashton Northern for being an incredible running back - however, I'd like to point out that he didn't score yesterday. And, in looking at the stats, what's up with Raeburn using him as a workhorse (1196 net yards) and never letting him score (4 TD's) while Suckow has 445 yards and 11 touchdowns. Too bad for Northern that he did all the work and gets little of the credit.

It's a credit to Northern's versatility that the coaches value his blocking skills in goal-line situations. He also frequently catches passes out of the backfield. He's the complete package.

I'm sure the players know already who is all-conference and who isn't.
They usually release it on Tuesday or Wednesday to give the Simpson SID time to figure out what huge stat he is going to put with the story now that they have been shut out.

Well Central was the last team before this year to shut them out back in like 1987. So maybe he can put an asterix behind it. 200 and some odd games with out being shut out by a team not named Central! ;D
