Now that your team, Central was eliminated, I have a question? Who in your conference is going to step up and start playing the WIAC in the regular season. The improved UD has ended the Battle of the Bridge with UWP. Loras has ducked us for years. Coe will only practice us, and get blown out several times. This is a regional game. I want to play Iowa schools as a UWP fan bleeding Orange and Blue! God bless you guys. Chin up Central.  Hail to your fine Team! Also, hail to the Johnnies as well. Have a safe trip to the Left coast sponsored by BU!

Superfan,

I am not that close to the program.  I have no idea about when a game with the WIAC would happen.  I know that the Hope contests will probably go away as that was a dream for our former Coach Ron Schipper.  He was a graduate of Hope and they are a sister school to us being affiliated with the Dutch Reformed Church.  We do play a lot of MIAC schools.  Bethel was two years previous and we play Augustana last year as well.  They are a little closer I think than the WIAC teams but who knows what will happen.  If Central can't fill the schedule for some reason I think they might be up for it.  I don't think Central has ever ducked anyone isn't our way you have to beat the best to be the best.

UWPSUPERFAN77 - I believe there's a 3 day mourning period following a tough loss before you can hit them over the head with the ol' scheduling hammer!!  Anyway, I doubt any of the posters on this board have the clout to make any changes in the Iowa schools scheduling habits.  Don't let the fact that they don't want to play you ruin the rest of your day...it's just not worth worring about.  It's not going to make UD re-open the bridge or anyone else play a WIAC team for that matter.

Congrats to the Dutch on a great season and a gutsy hard-fought performance today!

There's always plenty of room aboard the SJU Bandwagon if anyone is feeling jumpy ;D

Where did you hear UD ended their series with UWP?  I hadn't seen a schedule for next season.

As for IIAC teams playing WIAC teams in the future, with the exception of Platteville, most WIAC teams are farther away to IIAC teams than are MIAC teams.  There has also been more of a history of IIAC teams playing MIAC teams.  Plus...and maybe this is just me.  But maybe IIAC teams...I know many students at Dubuque when I was there didn't like what we thought of as an unfair advantage of a state school, with 10,000 students and much better facilities would have better athletes than a private school of 1,000 students.  When Platteville played Dubuque you had had a state school that cost less to go to, had 10 times the students, way better facilities, it was easier for Platteville to recruit to there.  I always wondered why the WIAC wasn't a Div. II league.  They really should be.

Congrats to the Dutch for a great season and a hard fought game today.

I hope you root on SJU the rest of the way.
Go Johnnies!!!

Glad to see Wartburg has done the annual ritual of taking down the roster off their web-site.  Once again symbolicly saying, "This season is over.  Thanks seniors, goodbye. OK juniors, this is your team now, see what you can do with it."

Considering the lack of seniors this season, the quality of the underclassmen and the picture on the UD web-site with the Walston-Hoover scoreboard in the background, I expect the Knights will be back in the hunt next season.

Thank You for the tactful responses. no offense meant to anyone. I agree Central does not duck anyone, the play the Vikings of Augustana frequently, and they are always good. The end of the bridge game was in the UD vs Platteville program. For the record, we only have 6500 students ,  a record high, not 10,000. Saw BV play PV last night, I will comment later in the week on the BB sit. God Bless you guys!

Dutch fans/posters

Can we get some insight/info on the game?   Let's hear something about the game other than what the final score was and how great of a season you had because that's all i've seen posted thus far.

Believe me, it was painful to post after the dubuque loss, but i thought people would like to get some specifics towards the end of the game when it was tight

The Dutch ran out of time to mount a stronger comeback.  The last TD was scored with only a little over a minute left in the game and no time outs. Kind of tuff when you dont get the onside kick to stop the clock two kneel downs and the game was over.  Couldn't get the stops when we needed to.  The Offense gave up to many sacks had two turnovers one lead to a TD.  That was the difference in the game.  The johnnies were not huge or real physical but they were fast and could fill the holes quickly.  their offense was just as fast and their QB came up with the plays when he needed to.  They didn't turn the ball over at all.

I seem to remember some intelligent Johnnie fan telling you before the game that SJU's front line was going to be fast enough to cause havoc in the Central backfield. In fact, I may have even predicted SJU would eclipse the entire season total of 3 sacks for your son, Gosh I hate being right ;D

Great meeting you, wish your son best of luck in school for me. Seems like a very smart kid, he's gonna be a great doc some day!

KR,

You were only partially correct LOL.  Seems to me you said 6 sacks you were two short.  LOL  Your D line was very fast.  He had faced pressure like that once before this year at the Wartburg game.  He did a better job that day just throwing it away.  Can't explain why he didn't saturday but it was what it was a good win for the Johnnies.

I was just wondering, does anyone know when the all region/all american teams come out?? Someone please provide some insight here!

kohawk,
give it until the week of the championship game or so.. that's when they came out if I remember correctly...

Touchdown Tommy

Hey where is DF1?  She was talking lots of smack to me before the game at the tailgate.

Dave here is my report from the game: Central was well coached and well disciplined.  They did what i expected.  Run, Run, Pass...Run, Run, Pass.  Nothing crazy, ball control, and probably lacking a couple playmakers.  Johnnies ran around the Dutch OT's with ease.  Not sure if they were that slow, or just tired, but the Johnnies front 7 made it a very long day for Mr. Connell.

Nice to meet 2004 and see DF1 again.  Dutch letters were a nice treat at the tailgate.  Congratulations Dutch on a terrific season.  Your fans were all class before and after the game on Saturday.  Best wishes next season, I am sure it will end up being Central, Wartburg, and Coe like usual.  We'll be watching from afar in the MIAC...
