What a bizarre weekend with the Norse Men's Basketball team beating Wartburg and the Norse Wrestlers losing to UW-La Crosse.

Yeah, but both the Luther basketball team and the UWL wrestlers are coached by former Wartburg assistants, so the Knights are still superior.

Also, from looking at the Go-Knights website, it looks like the Wartburg men got new home uniforms for this year.  Not sure I like them, but I'll reserve judgement until I see them in person (assuming that happens sometime this year).

I'll take the Buckeyes tonight.  More big game experience and Tressel's pretty damn good in Arizona ('03 National Championship, last year's Fiesta win over the Irish).  I've been telling people since tOSU beat Iowa back in September that they'd win it all, and I'll stick with that.

Florida by 6.  People have been underestimating Florida all season.  Urban Meyer's creative offense will put Boise's coach to shame.

There's probably a big party down in San Antonio for the game tonight huh?

I'll take Ohio St. by 2 scores.

Meyer is supposed to be a genius when he has this long to prepare, but he needed a little help from the refs last year to put away the Hawkeyes down in Tampa.  This year's Buckeyes are a lot better than last year's Hawkeyes and I don't think Florida is a ton better than they were last year.  Plus, if Leak takes about 2 hits, he'll be done for the night.

Do you guys truly believe that Boise St. deserves a shot at Ohio St.?

It's halftime and florida is up 20.  even if ohio state does come back and win i do believe boise state deserves a shot at the national championship.  it's not their fault no bcs conference school will travel to boise for a regular season game.  the postseason needs to be changed in D-1 football.

and yes....big party in san antonio

Wow, I was way off!

For a positive, the only bet I made was for a 20 oz. Mt. Dew and I actually took Florida!

Well, I was right -- it was no contest. Wow -- OSU looked really flat. The Big 10 didn't have a very strong showing this bowl season, and the big dogs (Michigan and OSU) looked horrible.

Article yesterday on Yahoo sports on how the big 10 commish is the most powerful man in sports and because of him there will never be a playoff.
He has everything the way he wants it with the big 10 getting in any bowl they want.
They are without question the most hyped, overrated conference in sports.
A Michigan/OSU BCS Championship game would have gone down as one of the greatest injustices of all time

Have I ever said how much I dislike the Buckeyes? How fitting was it for Ginn to get hurt celebrating a TD in the 1st 16 seconds of the game? There should have been a flag thrown for the pile. I guess the football gods took care of the issue with the remaining 59:44.

Talk about injustice. I don't care who you are and who you play if you go 13-0 you are guaranteed to finish no worse the #2. Boise got hosed in the rankings.

So I typed this up late last night and thought I would share it with you.
Press Release

Newark NJ (AP)-

The Big 10 offices in New Jersey today announced that they will be changing the name of the Big 10 conference to something that more accurately describes the 11 teams in the league.

After several years of being over-hyped, and overrated, James Delaney, conference commisioner, decided it was time for a change.

Several suggestions were taken into consideration. Among them "Big 2, little 9," "OSU and the 10 dwarfs," and "Underachieving 11." After carefully reviewing the options the conference took into account all the characteristics of the league.

"We looked at how we had more money than most small countries, our very own TV network, and a gigantic fan base," said Delaney. "In addition to that, we had to look at how the media has a love affair with our teams, how we get into bowl games we don't deserve, and how we never live up to our pre and midseason hype."

The conference will now be called the "Notre Dame Football League."

Yeah, I'm thrilled so far with the direction of the Norse Basketball team under a Knight!  It's early and this was a rebuilding year no matter the coach, but it would be nice to actually beat someone like Northwestern Bible College if we are going to have to have a Wartburg guy on the Luther campus.

How many wins would Buzz have if he were coaching the Norse or the Knights?

Did you have the same opinions of Oklahoma when they got hammered (like what I saw last night) two years in a row in the title game?  They went through about three seasons when they were so hyped that ESPN was constantly talking about what NFL teams OU could hang with.

As far as injustices, Nebraska getting to play for the National Title in 2001 (didn't win the Big XII, got hammered by Miami) and OU getting to play for the National Title instead of USC (the year OU lost the Big XII and got hammered by LSU) a few years ago were legit injustices that actually happened.

The Big Ten and other baseball programs in the North have complained about how college baseball has been run for at least a couple of decades (start times of the season as it relates to the weather, length of the season, etc.).  You would think such a powerful man would be able to change things more than he has.

The Big Ten is a good football conference and has good tradition.  Some people don't care about tradition, but the league also has been pretty good over the last 10 seasons.  The OSU game last night was pathetic though.
