He's got one more year left.  He seems like he's been around forever.
THIS IS...OUR HOUSE!  WHOSE HOUSE?!...OUR HOUSE!  WE RULE....OUR HOUSE!!

Both TeKippe and Suckow return, as well as some freshman that started on Defense...

Coe will have to rebuild its offensive line. No small task replacing the likes of Rob Lance, TJ Filip, Marcus Dunn and John Bowlin. At least Nick Leerhoff returns. Big shoes -- not to mention shoulder pads -- to fill in Ashton Northern. And who will replace Jon Rife?

I'm less concerned on defense, despite losing the likes of Adam Jordison and Zach Nosbisch. Breakout year awaits for Tom Breitbach and Jordan Pinkney's return will be huge. Freshmen linebackers Tate Harrison and Calvin Thomas are loaded with potential.

I wouldn't call Coe a front runner, but they'll be in the mix.

A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

I wish they were all this much fun.

I also thought finding those '06 updates took a little of the punch away, but it was too fun to get rid of.

Are we speculating much about next year here? I read some of the Coe stuff, but I haven't gone too far back.

Has anyone read the latest ATN? Here is my favorite IIAC excerpt:

Best excuse for not updating the team's Web site
We'd give Dubuque a harder time about still having a preseason article out front in January, but according to the fine print on the site itself, Vince Brautigam is responsible for both maintaining the site and coaching the team.

Brautigam excelled at the latter part of his job, improving from 2-8 to 6-4, with a season-ending win over Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference power Wartburg and a top-half finish in the IIAC. Dubuque was competitive in the second half of '05, bonded on a May '06 trip to Germany and then turned in the school's first winning season since 1987.

The six wins was more than the Spartans had from 2002-05 combined. Brautigam, hired before the 2001 season, was 7-43 before this year, but finally got the program on the track he wants it on.

So no rush on that website thing.

(For the record, there are articles from the '06 season on the Dubuque site under Team News/Recaps)

K-Mack, good to see you bud. But where is the love? Your trip to Iowa doesn't even get a mention in your post season roundup? By the way, it stopped raining.

Long time no post, got a little busy with school and all.

Next year I think we can look to the same old, Central Coe Wartburg for the title. With Tekippe and Suckow back Coe will be tough for sure, but they lose a little bit of defense I think. Wartburg will be having a hard time replacing a horse like Hammes but Im sure they have someone waiting to step up. Central brings back a 2 time MVP as well as a few other dangerous playmakers on both sides of the ball. I wish it was September right now!

did someone leave the simpson staff?

You might want to expand a bit.  Did you hear this from a friends former roomates cousins sister or from someone at the school?  Or did you notice someone from the staff interviewing somewhere else...or working in another field of employment?

Things like that.

WartTrainer

Central and Coe return some offense but the Knights return the entire defense and defense wins championships.   The Knights D played well last year and with all of those Jrs. and Soph. getting another year of playing under them they could be looking pretty salty.

Also if I remember right Suckow hasnt done much against the Knights the last couple of years.....good player but the Knights seem to keep him pretty quiet.

Shoiuld be fun.

DutchHawk

True, although Central only loses a Def End, Safety and Linebacker, and no doubt there is quality to fill in. So I wouldnt say their defense is going to be hurting to get #29. Especially when Central was #1 in turnovers lost in the country, also statistical champion in turnover margin. I would say Central and Wartburg will battle it out, Coe wont be as lucky to have both Central and Wartburg at home again, even though they lost them in close games last year, playing them at home should have helped more. Luther might surprise with the running back guy back this year, too bad I cant remember his name.

Well, we don't have to speculate about the Simpson coach any longer...

Hastings, NE – Hastings College head football coach Paul Mierkiewicz has announced a new addition to the Bronco coaching staff.

Clint Head assumes duties as offensive line coach and assistant to the athletic director.  Head comes to Hastings from Simpson College, an NCAA Division III school in Indianola, Iowa.  He is a 1999 graduate of Simpson where he was a two time Division III All-American offensive lineman.  He has served as the offensive line coach for Simpson since 2001.  Prior to that, he was the head coach at Farragut (IA) high school for one year.   Head is also C.S.C.S. certified and will play a big role in the Bronco strength and conditioning program.

Coach Mierkiewicz commented, "Clint brings a great amount of knowledge and experience to our offense.  We're excited to bring someone of his caliber into our program."

Clint and his wife, Andrea, have one daughter, Jordan, who will be 2 years old in March.

Clint plays a BIG role in everything he is part of. I wonder if this means I get a promotion at William's Indianola OL camp this summer or if He will come back for it.

I'm a little surprised by Head leaving.  I had heard rumors of him leaving, and he was recently replaced as the strength and conditioning coach (by a Central alum of all people), but I thought he would be at Simpson for awhile.  I guess o-line coach and assistant to the athletic director (or is it assistant athletic director  :D?) is a step up for him.  Wish him all the best, he's a good guy.

WH-  Time for JW to put in a good word for you down in I-town.  I think you're ready to make the move.
