Warthog - Between Lance's donation and our collective Booster Club memberships, you'd think they'd be able to float something for us. ;D

redmen - I kind of agree with you.  Nothing Sexy Rexy could do about not having the ball for even 10 minutes the first half.  He wasn't the reason they got behind, but he was the reason they didn't come back.  I have no idea what he was thinking on those two INTs.  I know it was wet, but if you can make it to the Super Bowl, fumbles on the quarterback-center exchange are inexcusable, but they had two of them.  Basically it came down to the Bears D not being able to stop the Colts on 3rd down to get off the field, not having Benson, and a few mishaps by Rexy.  Colts didn't play a great game, but they didn't need to.

20-28 for 190 yards (not sure on the yards and i'm too lazy to look it up) with a TD and 2 ints.

It's only 165 yards. The percentage is nice but 5.9 yards an attempt? Not taking a lot of chances there.

Walston - No, the check was not lost in the mail.  I did, in fact, make a size-able donation to the Wartburg fund, and the kind folks at the controllers office cashed it...

Unfortunately, my $100,000+ donation was diverted towards some obscure fund called "tuition."   :D

Lance are we going to get your bro to Wartburg, or is he going to head somewhere else? I assume that's him with the porn-star stache on the front page of iapreps.com all the time?

Walston,
Did you ever get that Easy-Bake oven you wanted for Christmas?  Hopefully you didn't get one of the defective ones...

Walston - Grant will probably be headed to Drake.  Central really wants him, too.

The Show

I was going to ask where he was headed too.  Saw him in person during the first round of the playoffs, but I think he was banged up.

I agree that overrated Drake sucks. Truth be told I'd almost rather see him at Central....ALMOST.

Apparently I was the victim of germ warfare saturday at the Wartburg game.  I made it into work for about 2 hours yesterday and only got into the office today at about 11am.  WORST cold of my life...I've barely been out of bed since sunday morning.

Anyway,  with some of the talk on here regarding recruiting.  How much recruiting goes on at the DIII level?   Do players get constant phone calls and letters and text messages from coaches?  Do the players get visits and told how that schools system fits perfectly for their playing style?  Can players play schools off each other?  Things like, "I like your school...but school y over there is offering me x amount of finantial aid...can you beat that???"  What are some of the stories those out there can tell me about it!!!

Wartburg's schedule is out for this fall.  Monmouth and Auggie are non-conf. games again, with the bye week the second week in.  Coe on Homecoming should be a good one.  Also, those smarter than me can feel free to correct me here, but I think this is the first year in the history of Walston Hoover Stadium there won't be a night game.

As far as recruiting goes, guys that played the game at the college level could shed more light on the subject than me.  That said, I think the second "busy season" for D3 schools started yesterday.  D3 schools will be getting out there to try to find the kids that got lost in the mix of the signing process at the higher levels.  Looking for that needle in the rough, or a diamond in a haystack, if you prefer.

I was told several years ago that visiting teams don't like when a team wants to schedule a night game, or even change the start time like Wartburg has historically on homcoming. They for some reason think something is up and don't want to do it. I vote for any September games to be played at night if the facilities are available.

I think September night games would be a great marketing opportunity as well.  Get some of those Hawk and Clone fans out to the games that otherwise would either stay at home to watch or go to the games outright.

I like the traditional 1pm games.  But if the schools are going to the expense of putting in the lights they might as well get used.  September is great because of the weather, but after that I think a bit too cold.  We hardly go to high school games anymore because of the cold.  Of course as the kids get older there we will be once again.

Wartburg and Loras and Simpson and who else has lights?
Central?
For some reason I'm thinking Cornell but I could be way off.

Try to get both September conf games to be at these stadiums and there are no problems. Even 4 or 5:00 starts is better than 1.
