Yea my bad...maybe I meant Loras? I dunno...purple gets confusing in my head. Either way I dont think installing fieldturf will be to the advantage of Coe over any other IIAC team, especially Wartburg and Central as they both have the speed and athletes to cover it. Ask Belleus and Dubuques supposed high powered offense how the Fieldturf at Central helped them last year... I think they finally scored on the 2nd teamers in the 4th quarter.

"supposed high powered offense"?  ??? I am not sure which planet you were on but just because their showing against Central was anything but spectacular, doesn't mean they did not have one of the best offenses in the conference. Please review the stats again and you will see my point.

You can prove your point without making inaccurate statements. I will concede that on that day, Central's defense handled the Spartans high powered offense, even on field turf.

Anyone know who Central will play Non conference to start the season?  I am trying to find out who in the MIAC will play who in the IIAC the first 2 weeks.

Central non-con 2007

Sept. 1st St. Thomas
Sept. 8th @ Hope (MI)

Willie U,
I beg to differ on my "inaccurate" statement, I say supposed high powered offense because I was talking about that game, not the season. And as for stats...
                                                        DBQ        CEN
TOTAL OFFENSE PLAYS-YARDS.....   65-293   71-383

That including Belleus botching an easy kick return and fumbling it in the endzone. No need to get defensive, Im just calling what I saw. DBQ didnt score until 13:01 left in the game on mainly our second team. Season stats really dont mean much anyways. Just trying to clear up my "inaccurate" statement. Thanks:)

Anyone know a place in Des Moines where I can get transmission work done that won't charge me an arm and a leg but will do a good job?

The transmission on my wife's 2002 neon is going fast, never did seem to idle and come out of idle right.

Thanks!

KR

I used Mitchell Transmission when my transmission went out a year and a half ago.

Thanks!
Apparently a girl in my wife's class has a dad who runs a transmission shop on MLK, so we took it there. I'm anxiously awaiting the final damage to my credit card bill.

I wasn't arguing with you on the stats for that game as I clearly stated. I was merely correcting your inaccurate statement about UD not having a high powered offense. You clearly saw the spartans on possibly their worst offensive performance of the year. True, that could have resulted from Central's strong defense. However, to state that season stats don't mean anything is ridiculous in my opinion. Especially when 8 of those games are against similar opponents. Then, season stats do tell a realistic picture. Bottom line, wins and losses are what matter most but I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on the rest.

Not being defensive, just stating my opinion of your statement.

I love Dodges, and up until 2 years ago that was all I had every known, but around 80,000, all of their transmissions started going bad.

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Wow, looks like I missed quite a bit over the state basketball tournaments.  While I'm here, might as well give my predictions for the 2007 season.

IIAC Champion:  I have a pretty good feeling about this Wartburg squad, although Central will be right there too.
Surprise Team:  Good question.  I might be all alone on this one, but I think Cornell could finish as high as 6th or 7th next year if things go their way.
Disappointment:  Luther.  Sherdan being back will help, but I don't think their passing game or defense will be much to write home about.
Offensive POY:  Schuring is a pretty good bet.  TeKippe will probably put up some big numbers again.  And I think Wartburg's Josh Van Rees might be looking at a big year, since he won't have to split carries with Hammes this time around.
Defensive POY:  Hall or Wartburg's Nick Weber.  Is it just me or is he one of the most underrated guys in the league?
Special Teams POY:  Probably Suckow, Sherdan, or Kyle Duchman from the 'Burg.  I know Suckow does a lot of returning, but not sure how much the other two will do this year.  Both guys are burners though.
Coach of the Year:  Koehler.

This one only made it to 55,000.

Funny thing is when the clutch went out on my Cavalier last summer at 140,000, she said the car was falling apart and we should get rid of it. I know better than to bring that up about her car at this juncture in life even though I am 95% positive this repair will be well more than my clutch was.

Willie,
No hard feelings, i can agree to disagree! Like they always say...Offense fills the seats, but Defense wins Championships!! Well that and special teams...which I dont know about you guys but i would say 90% of the teams neglect special teams to some point...the teams that battle year in and year out are the ones with consistently good special teams...i.e. Central, Wartburg, Coe. Anyways I forgot about Van Rees at Wartburg, it will be interesting to see how good and durable he really is now that hell be the feature back!

Looks you have already learned the lesson that the woman is ALWAYS right.  Good job.

So looking at IIAC vs. MIAC games for next season we get...

BV playing Bethel Sept. 1st

Central playing St. Thomas Sept. 1st

Cornell playing Northwestern Sept. 1st...not MIAC but from Minny

Loras playing St. Thomas Sept. 8th

Luther playing St. Olaf Sept. 1st

Simpson playing Bethel Sept. 8th

Wartburg playing Augsburg Oct. 6th

will we on this board have some kind of bet or something on the upcoming season...

...losers supply tailgates...losers change avatars to winning schools logo...something along those lines...?

Hubbard is new Waverly-Shell Rock football coach
By KELLY BEATON, Courier Sports Writer

WAVERLY -- The Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks have a new head coach. Now they hope their football team is headed in a different direction.

Following a fall in which W-SR went 1-8 overall, Mark Hubbard, formerly of Union of LaPorte City, will replace Jerrod Staack -- who recently resigned his post in Waverly. Hubbard confirmed the move to The Courier this morning.

For Hubbard, a 2001 Wartburg graduate, making a move to Waverly was a fairly simple decision.

"It's a great opportunity," said Hubbard. "We've got some work to do there, but all the ingredients are there."

Of course, leaving LaPorte City after five years stalking the sidelines was also somewhat bittersweet for Hubbard. The 28-year-old went 15-12 the last three seasons at Union of LaPorte City, where he coached the likes of Matt Pipho, a current Miami (Fla.) offensive lineman. He also brought the Knights to the doorstep of the postseason on a pair of occasions.

"It's a good community," the Aplington-Parkersburg graduate said of LaPorte City. "And the cupboard at LaPorte City is ready for whoever they hire. I wish 'em nothing but the best."

At his new post, Hubbard will preach what so often helped his teams at his last job: winning the war in the trenches.

"We've got to get in the weight room and get bigger, stronger and faster," the new Go-Hawks coach noted. "It's going to take a commitment from the players, parents, and the community."
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Not that they're always or even frequently right, you just have to let them think that they are.  ;D

Heaping an NCCAA crap school like Northwestern into any category with the MIAC is like including Des Moines Roosevelt's JV team with the IIAC. It's just ridiculous and doesn't even come close.

I would take my college intramural team over Northwestern 9 games out of 10. You have to understand NWC comes from a conference that Grinnell would dominate and Cornell would have a consecutive undefeated in conference streak.

I hope he can get it turned around. It seemed like things were starting to turn the corner at Union so hopefully he can carry that momentum to the Go-Hawks. We'll see how the trap works at Waverly.
One thing's for sure-He will have a firy group of guys that works their tail off.

It appears you all are missing the boat on your vehicles.  I would suggest in the future you purchase American made Toyotas instead of those south of the board constructed American nameplates.

Was Union terrible?  15-12 isn't too impressive unless he was following a 20 game loosing streak or some other type of disaster.  What makes up Union?

Might as well be consistent KR and take Augsburg off the list as well and put them and Hamline on the list of teams that would lose to the roosevelt jv program.  As Northwestern did beat Augsburg and Augsburg did beat Hamline last year.  Though, I don't think Wartburg is going to be looking past augsburg anytime soon after some close calls in recent years.  Look for Northwestern to avenge the upset loss to Cornell and for St. John's fans to get consistently more cocky as the new season approaches and they forget they got smacked upside the head at home by Bethel last season.
