I figured there had to be more to it than that.  Thanks for the info. lorbec.

From the NFL Europa site they list: Daunta Peterson WR Waived-Injured

Hope he gets another chance to prove himself over there.

The noise from the crickets is deafening. Any schools taking any Spring trips this year? I know Wartburg is headed to Deutschland again.

I don't think Simpson will be taking any spring trips while Neimann is there.  His reasoning was that he thought it would divide the team between those who went (had the $ to go) and those who didn't.  I guess I can see his point, but I think the pros definitely out-weigh the cons when it comes to a team trip to Europe to play a game.

WH- Any word on what the 'burg is going to do with the scoreboard?  Are they going to leave the one on the North side and put up a new one on the South side?  Linfield has a video board with feed from a press-box camera and a sideline camera for replays...what's another mil to Jack?

So as to not let the crickets get too deafening.  UD tears down the old stands at Chalmers field tomorrow.  Their webpage has some new renderings of the place and a link to a webcam.  Here is the link.  http://www.dbq.edu/ChlaptyCenter/index.cfm

redmen, you bring up a good point about dividing the team between those who could afford it and those that couldn't but planning a trip like this allows the team to have practices in the spring. When Cornell went on their trip to Italy in 2005, everyone was allowed to suit up and practice. It's a way to get around the no spring practice rule.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a rule where you can't do this in consecutive years.

As far as I know right now the scoreboard will remain where its at. Unless a Tripoli dentist wants to donate money for a new jumbotron I imagine it will stay like it is until a couple schools in the conference get one.
It used to be that everyone could practice no matter who was going, but last year (I believe) the conference decided to put the clamps on that and now only allows the guys going to practice. It was a big advantage to take that trip because of the 10 extra practices, especially now that other conferences have spring ball and the IIAC does not.
The rule is every 3 years a team is allowed to go. It used to be that you could not go if you were in the playoffs but they got rid of that rule as well.

i recently heard that at the next conference meeting (not even sure who's involved) that they were thinking about bringing spring ball to the conference.  any truth to this, and who decides?

That's a rumor I hadn't heard.  I don't know for sure, but I would assume the President's council has to approve any change like that.

That would be stellar if they did bring back spring ball!!

Happy Friday, guys -- I thought it was appropriate to start the weekend with a little humor. Have a good weekend!

A teacher noticed that a little boy at the back of the class was squirming around, scratching his private area, and not paying attention. She went back to find out what was going on. He was quite embarrassed and whispered that he had just recently been circumcised and he was quite itchy. The teacher told him to go down to the principal's office. He was to telephone his mother and ask her what he should do about it. He did that and returned to his class. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the back of the room.  She went back to investigate only to find him sitting at his desk with his weenie hanging out.

"I thought I told you to call your mom!"  she said.

"I did," he said, "And she told me that if I could stick it out till noon, she'd come and pick me up from school.

Luther is heading to Europe this year as well.  From what I remember, part or all of the trip is in Germany.

Bring back spring football practice and beef up fall baseball practice! :)

Now that would be fun-Have a scrimmage between Wartburg and Luther every 3 years in Eisenach.
I think more kids would want to go. After the game everyone heads up to the castle to drink Wartburg champagne.

I'm so ready for football that while I drove by Waverly last week for work I thought to myself that...IF...the IIAC allowed spring football I would have stopped in at Wartburg and watched their practice.
