Like they say in Chicago: VOTE EARLY, VOTE OFTEN.

That's how we Irish Cathoics finally got one of our own in as Presdent.  Forget those mob ties, they had nothing to  do with it.

I've been all over it.
My old Roomie didn't make the basketball list but our old QB Jake Olsen did.

All is well.  The tornado spared Warthog's house and Little Warthog's house.  Lots of damage around town, but luckily the funnel had a small tail.  Very concentrated and horrific damage, but nothing like the Oelwein and Charles City storms of 39 years ago.  Here all the schools were out of the funnel's path.  Mrs. Warthog had a bunch of very scared kids.  The eye of the storm passed about two blocks from her school. The hospital complex was hit but the building itself had minimal damage.  The soccer/baseball/softball complex was hit hard.  The girl's state soccer meet starts here next week.  Yesterday Musco equipment was at the complex fixing lights while volunteers worked on picking up the fields, resetting goals, salvaging portable bleachers, straightening fences,  etc.

Thanks for asking

I've just looked at the most recent photo series at the Wartburg constuction site.  I'm convinced the tunnel will be a great advantage for the Knights. It appears to be a shorter version of the Memorial Stadium Cornhusker tunnel.  Even at my advanced age I could get fired up entering the field in this gladiator like setup.  There has to be some sort of Knight thing put in the hall for players to touch as they take the field.  I'd offer my Knight helmet ice bucket, but then I wouldn't have anything to put orange and black Oreos in on game day.

Today's QC Times reports the Red Cross indicated there were 67 home demolished and 87 homes with major damage after Thursday's tornado.

They are putting a bust President Ohle's head at the entrance to rub for good luck.
I think it would be fun to have a Knight on a horse lead the team out. Might have a tough time convincing Newsom to allow that on the Orange Oval though.

Work study opportunity...cleaning up after the horse.

Also lawsuit opportunity...the horse stepped on my foot and has put me on crutches for 6 weeks.

Add some Miami-style smoke and it would be perfect.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

WartTrainer

I offered a suggestion to a couple members of the coaching staff that there should be a big wooden draw bridge that lowers down and have smoke rolling out as the players are led out onto the field by a person in a knight costume on a big horse.

On a more realistic note an inflatable Knights helmet would be pretty cool too.

Walston Hoover

I like the drawbridge idea.
ISU has the inflatable helmet and I'm not a huge fan. Its alright and beats the old 3 block walk they used to have from the locker room to the stadium, but I think the inflatable helmet is a little cheesy. Get those pre-engineering students all over the drawbridge though.

I think the inflatable Viking ship that Minnesota uses would go well at Decorah.
Dubuque could march in in a phalanx.
Central could all come running in in wooden cleats.
Simpson has endless possibilities.
BV could <insert joke here>
Loras and Coe could, well, as soon as someone figures out what their mascots are then they could figure out how they could come in.

Back in the 70s, Simpson, being the Redmen, would have a guy dressed up as an Indian (maybe I should say Native American), head dress and all, riding a horse. He would be present at all home football games. In fact, SC's current head basketball coach, Bruce Wilson, was the Indian while he was a student at Simpson in the mid-70s. There are pictures to prove it.

Now we're the Storm...which really blows  ;)

In reference to ISU's tunnel and inflatable helmet: The players felt like they were running out from a large male member.

Well back from the Italy trip.  That was a great time.  The game was fun and pretty competitive 13-0 at half.  Finished 33-0 Cetnral over the Lazio Marines.  The team is one of the two teams in their season finals.  Their QB played at Carthage a year or two ago.  From what I had heard about the teams over there the level of play has been lifted from what I expected.  They have some players from the states and the players over there have a passion for the game.

Away from the game.  The sites were fantastic.  The food was great.  The people that went were are all great.  It was great to travel with the other parents and get to know them.  It was a trip that I will never forget and well worth it.
