No teams had to worry about Wartburg's passing game last year. That will change drastically this year.

I think we've led the conference the last 2 years. They know what's going on, that's for sure. What did they talk about?

Actually Central led the conference in defense last year at 9.9 points per game:) Just to clarify!
I'm looking at iowaconference.com and it has Wartburg and Central tied at 10.9 ppg given up last year and Wartburg gave up less yardage per game. Another reason for my optimism this year that all those guys are back.
Edit: I see you were looking at conference-only stats, A much better indicator. Central gave up 2 ppg less and 1.1 yards less per game. Still doesn't temper my optimism for this season.

Just curious, why do you think wartburg's passing game will greatly improve, and as a corollary, do you really want it to improve much? last year their pass game, as usual, was a distant second choice to their run attack.  None of their QB's or WR's seemed anything but ordinary.  The O line and RBs on the other hand are as good as there are.  If I were an Iowa Conference team I would absolutely welcome Wartburg to try and beat me through the air since I think their ability in this area is average.  Their defense is productive but benefits a lot from the time consuming zone run attack of the offense.  If I was the knights I'd dance with the girl that brought me, and run run run

Back in 02 and 03 when Wartburg's offense was at it's best they were about as balanced as you can get, which is where I'm sure they would love to be right now.  It's hard to be successful running the ball when their are 8-9 guys in the box, I don't care how good your OL and RB's are.  I disagree with you on the WR's.  There is a lot of talent there.  Look for the return game to be very much improved this year with some talented additions.

I will let you know before the first game why I think the pass game will be greatly improved. It will be quite evident within a couple weeks.
In 2003, Wartburg averaged 226 passing and 197 running
In 2002, 160-ish passing and 238 rushing
Last year-197 Rushing and only 107 passing
as good as the running games have been, they need to be able to pass to compete for a title.

Hey quick question for ya, is this new addition to the knight offense the addition of suckow to that potent offense.  Just what i heard through the rumor mill, someone want to confirm.

DutchFan2004

Walston is Knightfootball correct?  Is Coe's loss Wartburg's gain?

I am sure if that rumor is true the kohawk faithful would pry be the last to know.  It was a pretty reliable source I heard this from.

One person I talked to on campus this AM said Suckow will be traveling west to go to college NOT south.

I will be meeting with someone with Wapsie ties later today and see what he know.

I'm guessing well just have to wait to check-in day to see who, shows up where.

Alfred,

West? how far West?  South?  Wartburg is located North of CR so what did you mean by South?

Wartburg is located WEST of Wapsie Valley High school and COE is located South of Wapsie.
My Wapsie contact had not heard that but thought Wartburg probably needed another football player showing up to camp, 190 wouldn't be enough.

W-H,
Why do you think the passing game will be drastically improved?I know Coahc K still isn't comfortable wth the returning QB's.I know they also put a premium on recruiting the QB poition, but it would be hard to see any help from a freshman to contibute at the start of the season.

If Suckow transfers,he will be a great addition to the running game, but I don't see how he could help throw the ball downfield. That would mean another QB transferring in,but how much of the system could he learn in two weeks?

Come clean man! You've got us all wondering! ???
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"

Storm-what?

Walston- A Storm fan appreciates the optimism- but um.... going on nothing but pure speculation and roster- I'd say the Storm will be lucky to be .500.  :-\
I mean, in a program with strong history like Simpson, any game is up for grabs- let's just hope they grab at lots of them this year!
