Haha fair enough. I suppose they dont think D3 is important enough to check facts on.

If someone goes to Iowaconference.com, and clicks on season stats, they will see that Wartburg and Central tied in ppg at 10.9, if they go to total yards, Wartburg gave up about 23 yards less per game.
HOWEVER, if someone takes the time to realize there is a "conference only" stats page, they will see that Central had a better ppg and ypg average. I have always been a big proponent of conference only stats due to disparity in who teams play out of conference. So, while Wartburg had a very good defense, Central was just a little better.
Head to head, Wartburg did give up fewer yards to an offense that was overall better throughout the year.
That day was brutal as far as the wind goes though.
119 passing yards TOTAL between the 2 teams.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Thats where I got my info from. Just trying to promote getting the correct information. KCRG also messed up covering an IIAC team in Coe. It would be nice if these media outlets would put forth a little more effort in their research so we could have some higher quality of coverage. Although I suppose we could be happy with any coverage at all.

Nice scrimmage at Augustana.  I don't think there were any injuries that I know of.  I think there were a few questions answered with replacing the lost seniors.  2 quarters of play I watched and there were no sacks allowed by the O line.  So that was a good thing.  Looking forward to the kickoff in 8 days.

The media does not check any facts any more I don't believe.  In this day and age of the internet it does not take a long time to look things up.  It is laziness and sometimes the facts don't fit the story so ignore them or change them.

Kind of a far-reaching statement there, huh? The entire media does not check facts anymore?

Check your facts. :)

Pat,

I did not consider you the media.  I considered you a source.  I guess that that statement painted a wide swath.  I will retract it.  Not all media does not check that facts.  D3football.com does a great job on getting things correct.  I apologize for such a broad brush.

Thanks. But I was also referring to other media outlets as well. Both Keith McMillan and I work for media outlets, and until a year ago, we worked for the same one. There is plenty of fact-checking going on. Maybe not at Iowa television stations, but out in the rest of the world, us editors still do their jobs.

Well I guess there are people in every profession that do a good job and ones that don't.  The ones that don't give the rest of the hard working ones a bad name.

Here are my picks.  Long time reader and first time poster.  we will see how these turn out.

Picks
BV: they will do it this year
Central: no contest here
Coe: still think they are stronger even without Suckow
Cornell: Dillion brought in a ton of freshmen lets see if there is any talent
Upper IA:  sorry Loras but they have your number
St. Olaf
Concordia
Wartburg

Now I did find it interesting to rank the oppents compared to who had the best chance to the make the playoffs.  Here is my try at this.

Bethel
St Thomas
St Olaf
Northwestern
Rockford
Concordia
Monmouth
Upper IA
IA Weslyn
