Upper Iowa isn;t the same old Upper Iowa that we knew. That being said, they are far from a D2 power and I would put them in the bottom half of that division. No way its a sure win. They put up a lot of points, but can't stop anyone. I would like no better than to see Loras pull out the W.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

For the new comer of the year I am gonna say Tate Anderson from and Rahn Franklin.  They have some potential to be serious competitors in the league.  Anderson is a big, strong back that likes to hit, franklin is quick and can get the job done!

UIU's offense is pretty good but their defense is non-existent.  they will have their hands full with Loras.  The people on the D2 message board have no idea about D3.  The UIU fans think that just because they are D2 now they will manhandle Loras.  If the Duhawks can find a way to stop WR Croker and their RB (can't remember the name) they could pull it out.

I am going to echo my fellow BV follower.  The reports that I have is that Franklin has show immediate impact just being an athlete.  He is a  top notch basketball player.  I know he hasnt played football in a few year but look to see this guy returning kicks.  Lets hope he lights up and scoreboard a few times.

Anybody want to try to predict who will be the rookie or newcomer of the year for the conference this year? I realize it is kind of difficult not knowing right now who everyone has brought in for transfers or freshmen. Of course Wartburg has Suckow but he has been in the conference for 3 years already. I guess it could also be based on a player who is their first year of being a starter as well.

Sophomore WR Robert Welborn, a 6-5 210 newcomer for Coe who played basketball last year. You heard it here first.

He will be good, as well as freshman Nick Ratchford from Coe.
I was late to the scrimmage on Friday night, i missed what Charlie saw.  From what I saw, I agree with Charlie that Coe has some work to do.  The offense struggled a in the opening from what I understand they didn't score a touchdown in the first part of the scrimmage.
The one int Tekippe threw was tipped and the D-end grabbed it after he tipped it.
Tekippe went 3 series in the first part, and then 3 or 4 more after the "halftime".  He was wearing an orange jersey so he wouldn't get hit, but the backup QB's were fair game.
After halftime they simulated redzone attempts, where Coe scored on all 4 attempts (1 FG, 3 TD).  2 of the TD's comming from the freshman reciever Ratchford.
Hammas looked pretty good from what I saw, he had a couple of nice runs.
Harrison looked really good, which was sort of expected, as did the defensive line from what I saw.  The secondary had 1 or 2 picks in the redzone simulation part.

But the Coe vs Plateville scrimmage is never anything to read in on.  Coe has never really done that good against Plateville in scrimmages.

the_mayne_event is right about the Plateville scrimmage. I can remember the Kohawks getting it handed to them when they had two-time IIAC MVP Freddie Jackson on the team. The Kohawks will be fine this year.

Welcome aboard, TheOne.  Although your name is a bit outdated now.

KWAR will always be "The One" in my book...nice to see they were so "creative" with the new logo as well.

I noticed the poll question on the d3football.com home page about video and/or audio for games online.  I put in my vote as audio only for all games since that was the way it was in the past.  Any word on another season of Knights Radio Network?  Maybe Walston Hoover could return for another season, definitely one of the better announcers we had (too bad Mathais couldn't stick around "put another six on the board").  How about other IIAC schools?  Audio and/or video of some or all football games?

I was at the Saints/Bills preseason game in the Dome. Fred Jackson scored the Bills only touchdown. He looked pretty good. Hope he makes the cuts!

just curious---- is upper iowa good enought to beat loras by thirty like they say on the d-2 message boards

DutchFan2004

Digger,

I have no idea what UIU has.  I was to to venture a guess I would say no Loras will not get beat by 30 but that is a guess as I have never seen the Peacocks play.  I know Loras played some good football last year.  So that is what I based it on.

How about other IIAC schools?  Audio and/or video of some or all football games?

Dubuque has audio for all football games.  I usually keep the Dubuque game on the computer and check in from time to time while I watch college football on tv.

Dubuque has Jack Cilcoyne, a retired local radio dj, doing their broadcasts.  Most of the other schools broadcasts I have listened to have had students doing the broadcasts.

The Dutch have a full time radio guy do their broadcasts.
