Don't know about you, Coocoo, but I'd really like to bury the hatchet on this thing so it isn't hanging over everyone else any longer.

There's my olive branch.

I accept.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

There is an IIAC pick-ems page over in the general section.  That is where we are doing that this year.

Well said Buckwheat. I couldn't agree with you more. It is really interesting to get on here and read about the games that I couldn't attend and also hear what other people think of the game I was at and what their opinions are. Most of the people that post on here or read these posts are obviously passionate for d3football, the IIAC and their respective teams. Sometimes things will get heated though, guess you sometimes just have to take things with a grain of salt.  ;)

First, let me apologize for any role I may have unwittingly played in sparking the recent spat. I hold no animosity toward Sportnight or CooCoo (or anyone else, near as I can tell). In fact, I admire the passion they each hold for their alma mater. CooCoo doesn't speak for me, nor I for him, which is why I reject any and all broad-brush characterizations of any school and their supporters.

That said, I hope we can all congratulate IIAC Male Athlete of the Week Tommy Breitbach. That had to be one tough selection given all the stellar performances put on across the league last week. Tommy, or Tom, if you prefer, tallied 183 all-purpose yards on just five touches (37 yards per touch!) in Coe's 24-6 season-opening win over Illinois Wesleyan. He scored on a 51-yard punt return late in the second half and then added a 92-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter. Breitbach also caught one pass for 10 yards, returned one kickoff for 19 yards and two punts for 62 yards. Defensively, he posted six tackles (four solo) and broke up five passes. If that weren't enough, he donned Charlie Kohawk's new costume and entertained the halftime crowd. (I made that one up.)

Ok so I have been posting for about a year now and I'm not really sure what the karma thing is for

doolittle - Rockford 7-3 against Blackburn, Principia and Martin Luther etc.????  doesn't say much for the independents. Perhaps I didn't do my homework Wi Lute vs Aurora, so what would your rankings be?  Anybody seen Waldorf lately, are they becoming competitive?

I'd just like to see more top half of MIAC and CCIW providing real challanges for the IIAC.  Maybe even an occasional WIAC, but they would be the toughest opponents.

I wasn't at the game first hand, but from what I gathered from friends and spectators, Tekippe didn't have time to throw the ball very much.  The o-line was probably the biggest question comming into the season because Coe lost 4 starters last year.  They were rotating linemen in to see if they could find a unit to gel, but hasnt happened yet.  Everyone has first game gitters especially 4 guys trying to get a feel for eachother for the first time all along while trying to replace some pretty big shoes of three 3 year starters and one 2 year starter.  I hope for Tekippe's sake that they gel in the next 2 weeks.  They have some real good players, but the o-line is all about being coheasive.
Well said Mayne Event. And I hope they get the shotgun snap fixed too. You're dead in the water of the center doesn't get the ball to the quarterback consistently.

Good deal.  You planning on attending the Wartburg-Coe game next month?  We could bury a beer or two along with that hatchet.

Getting good?  I'd say it was only going to get worse.

While I'm at it...
TheOne89.1 - I doubt I've changed all that much.  Maybe a bit less combative, but not much.
Charlie - We cool.  Breitbach deserved AOW for those two returns alone.  My beer burying offer on 10/20 extends to you as well.  Heck, we could even bury them at Breitbach's distant relative's place.
Old Dutch - My dad always buys your potato chips.  Says you can't beat 3 bags for $5.  I'd be willing to pay for better taste, though.

I'm in! You'll have to bring the hatchet though. Coe posters aren't allowed to handle sharp objects.  ;D

Unless it is raining I say screw the pre-game at Joe's KnightHawk.  The Warthog clan has been known to have a pretty good tailgate event. Maybe we should prove to the world that Coe and Wartburg can live in peace and harmony.  ;)

Defensively there were so many that deserve recognition...

Mashburn, Dubuque.  18 tackles, 2 TFL's

Gustavson, Cornell.  14 tackles, 2.5 TFL's, 1 Fumble Forced, 2 blocked kicks including game preserver, 30 bags of popcorn sold...

Breitbach, Coe.   Int/92 yard TD return, 5 breakups...but you gotta give the rest of the Kohawk D its due as well

Central:  Badeaux, Altmaier and really the entire Dutch D

Stover, Simpson.  12 tackles, 2 TFL's, and Int/24 yards.

Lansing, Wartburg. 10 tackles...again another team D effort

Hall, Loras.  13 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 TFL's

Hendrickson, Luther.  8.5 tackles, 2 TFL's

Sly, Buena Vista.  16 tackles, 2.5 TFL's, Int/48 yards TDTom Breitbach

Congrats to Coe's Breitbach on POTW honors and to Cornell's Gus and BV's Sly for their meritorious mention...

Alma brings their track meet to Ash Park this weekend.  The Rams have their hands full and I hope they don't figure that with Brehm gone the Scot Gun has no bullets.  Joe Cline is a legit player who would do well in the IIAC.

The Rams will need to sack up on both sides of the ball and keep ball control on offense and help keep the D fresh.  The DB's will have their hands full chasing receivers all over the field; but Bladt, Sanches, and Weddle will step up to the challenge.  Zasada(the Serbian Sack-meister ;)), the Williams bros. and J-Day need to rattle the new Scot Gun trigger man into firing blanks.

On the other hand, I think the Rams have the offensive firepower to put 30+ up and have better control of their sprinkler system.  I can see Youngblood having a big game as the Scots try to take away Hardman.  I also think that Kobler will have a better than efficient day, doing another good job of distributing the ball to his receivers.

I look for the Rams to ring the bell on this one.  Just don't wait til the last second this year.

Looking at some of the other matchups, I think this the week the IIAC offenses across the conference wake up and relieve their defenses of the scoring burden.
