doolittle - Rockford 7-3 against Blackburn, Principia and Martin Luther etc.????  doesn't say much for the independents. Perhaps I didn't do my homework Wi Lute vs Aurora, so what would your rankings be?  Anybody seen Waldorf lately, are they becoming competitive?

I'd just like to see more top half of MIAC and CCIW providing real challanges for the IIAC.  Maybe even an occasional WIAC, but they would be the toughest opponents.

I get what you were saying and agree I think top to bottom the IIAC should probably try to schedule a little tougher.  That said, it's not always easy to schedule these games.  I would love to see some sort of IIAC-MIAC agreement where every school from the two conferences play each other.  Not just for competitive reasons but both conferences are generally small private universities and mileage wise we are close.  After that schedule anybody you like out of the Midwest conference or MIAA or whichever Illinois or Wisconsin school you like.  For me personally, I just don't like the WIAC.  Public schools with 6,000-12,000 enrollments should be Div. II in my opinion and I don't want to start a war here.  I know competition wise they are the best I just don't want to play them.

Your rankings were pretty close, I probably would have put BV and Luther ahead of Coe.  Their MIAC opponants were pretty good and Waldorf beat BV last year and have been competive with Luther and Simpson recently.

Now, does anybody on here know how to get rid of this cold that has me up at this late hour???

1 cup tomato juice
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Celery salt to taste

This will clear you right up and you'll go right to sleep if you can avoid heartburn. Its called Tomato Tea and I've used it many times and it works like a charm.

Central Fans,

Thought you'd like to know that our man sportsknight will be calling the action on the radio this Saturday in Holland.  In fact, it'll be a Wartburg flavor on the air - with sportsknight paired up with former Knight color commentator Al Dorenkamp.

First game I'll miss in several years, and it pains me - but I'm looking forward to the call!

Make sure you guys get plenty of Wartburg references into the broadcast. Is that an afternoon game or will it interfere with my PM trip to Ames?

doolittledog, I think you are right - I think you are just beating a dead horse.  Some day, the blinders are going to have to come off...and you might just have to play them.

We had bloody mary mix in the fridge so I drank some of that...pretty much the same thing.  It at least got me to sleep.

Unless it is raining I say screw the pre-game at Joe's KnightHawk.  The Warthog clan has been known to have a pretty good tailgate event. Maybe we should prove to the world that Coe and Wartburg can live in peace and harmony.  ;)

Who said anything about pregame?  When its Homecoming in Waverly, we tailgate, in the words of Joe Paterno in that Big Ten Conf. commercial "befoah, duwing, and ehftah the game."

Add a little hot sauce and it will get the nose running and clean you out.
It still works good to get my voice back after weekends.
Koehler may want to try it from every interview I've heard from him this year he's hoarse.

On a side note-Its nice to see the "Tecmo Jump" is still taking place after all Wartburg scores. May that tradition always remain.
Nice article on the Wartburg D-line in the WCF Courier as well. Its linked through the go-knights.net website.

The game in Holland will be a first for many of these players.  They haven't played a night game since high school.  From what I see on the MIAA board there AA Rugenstien didn't play last sat.  because of the hamstring injury.  If they are correct and he is back this weekend then the Dutch O line will have their hands full as he was all over the field last year.  I think they will be a whole different team with him in the line up.

Congratulations to TE Ryan Hoerner for making the d3fb.com TOW.
The blurb from go-knights.net

"Junior tight end Ryan Hoerner of Epworth, after registering one of the top single-game efforts for a tight end in Wartburg football history at Monmouth College of Illinois last weekend, was placed on D3Football.com's Team of the Week. Hoerner hauled in six catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns during the 35-7 win."

Just looking at the iowaconference.com website and if my public school math is accurate, IIAC kickers were 27-28 on PAT's Saturday. Even though they should be automatic, that is VERY Good.

Do you think it would be a good idea instead of always kicking extra points from the middle of the field that if the offensive team scores a touchdown with a fade pass to the left corner of the endzone you then have to kick your extra point from the left hash mark?  It might spice up the game just a little bit
