Purple Heys

Pat,

I am not directly affliated with the school.

People that were there, and I was not one of them, know who the player is, so it's pretty public knowledge that it was Jeremy Day.

My information beyond that is either 3rd or 4th hand.

Out of respect to the individual and direct family, none of whom I speak for, I am cautious to share more than general info...on the possibility I may be wrong on any given detail.

Regarding the injured Cornell player...

Unless the school releases his name, I believe there are privacy issues to releasing medical information.

This is a smokescreen that schools hide behind. Only the actual doctor providing care is bound by HIPAA regulations.

If Im not mistaken though players sign a sheet at the beginning of the year detailing what information they would like released. I could be mistaken though.

2-0 start again for the rams...hopefully this year we will use this momentum and beat loras this week.

Good to hear that the injured player is doing well. Hopefully he will be back in a few weeks.

Go Rams!

So the Cardiac Kids also known as the Cornell Rams are 2-0 for the 2nd consecutive year.

Extra gray hairs aside, I feel more confident of this team than a year ago.

I think it bodes well for them that they find ways to win via special teams and taking what the defense, or groundskeeper, gives them.

They seem to have learned a lesson from last year that league play is whole new level.  Though it's early, the IIAC looks tougher this year than last top to bottom.  I think Cornell is better prepared to face the challenge.

With regards to the Central game, I love seeing them play a game like this. You are challenged in the first half, make the adjustments, and come out and give a whupping in the second half. Its shows the type of resilience that a team needs to win in the IIAC. Great to see a huge performance out of Connell and Huisman. DutchFan2004, how was it watching a CUI night game? I can only imagine what it was like especially with a crowd that size. Tell the young man from Cornell to not rush his recovery. Progress may be slow and steady, but its still progress. Best of luck to him.

The weather was perfect.  Almost hot sitting in the stands before the sun went down.  Then after the sun went down it was great.  Had a wonderful time.

This is the sign of really good coaching in my opinion.  It feel that the two best ways to determine quality of coaching is by the adjustments made both in-game and at half time and a team's ability to execute in close games.  Central is going to be a bear this year I am sure.

This is kind of odd -- Fred Jackson was the designated third quarterback for the Bills on Sunday. That's a position that only becomes active if the first two QBs are injured and cannot play.

youcantseeme,

I agree that is a sign of good coaching.  The Dutch d turned it up a notch and forced 4 TO's in the second half and were not really threatened the second half.

HA ha -- this is more than Michigan (and Notre Dame) fans can say!!

I've missed a couple of weeks of play -- in Chicago for the Iowa/NIU clash two weeks ago, and didn't make the trip to Holland this weekend -- but it sounds as though the Dutch and the rest of the IIAC are off to a good start to the season...

I also found it interesting that he didn't see any time on special teams.  After handling the KO return duties all pre-season, and doing it very well, he didn't return any kicks and didn't see the field at all.  Hopefully, Freddy can find his way onto the field this coming weekend.

If he's listed as the 3QB, he can't play except in an emergency. Seemed like an odd way to designate him.

I agree Pat. I suspect it was merely a way for the Bills to reward Freddy by letting him suit up for the game. Running out of that tunnel was a bigger deal to him than most anyone on an NFL roster.

At the same time, I would rather have had the Bills cut him if he wasn't going to have any opportunity to play.  There are other organizations that were interested in him as a possible back-up or special teams player.
