Walston,

Where have you been?  Your coaching duties keeping you away?  Must have made some changes as your team got a W.

With regards to the Central game, I love seeing them play a game like this. You are challenged in the first half, make the adjustments, and come out and give a whupping in the second half.

This is the sign of really good coaching in my opinion.  It feel that the two best ways to determine quality of coaching is by the adjustments made both in-game and at half time and a team's ability to execute in close games.  Central is going to be a bear this year I am sure.

Sounds like excellent work by the Central coaching staff on the sideline and at halftime.  Dutch fans have to be encouraged knowing that they have lots of talent on the field and a coaching staff that can adjust during a game.  I have always appreciated the coaching done in the IIAC and I think that the level of competition from Saturday to Saturday really gives the coaches opportunities to demonstrate their ability to make adjustments.  And in many cases, the team that makes the right adjustments is the team that comes out victorious.

Do any Dutch fans have an update on RB Vance Schuring?  What was his injury?  How long might he be out?  It sounds like from the press release on the Hope game that he was hurt against St. Thomas.

While they picked the Hope QB off twice before the signal caller got hurt in the middle of the game, it sounds like the Dutch Defense really did a number on the backup QB for Hope.  Central has now forced 8 turnovers in two games against respectable football programs.

U-W River Falls must have a pretty good team this year as they hammered Hope in week one (54-24) and lost a tight game with St. John's this past weekend (21-10).

Between coaching and work, I don't have as much time to get on here during the season. Plus it was Wartburg's bye week so I didn't have too much to add. Looking forward to getting tested by BV's D this coming weekend.
We made a huge change over the week at Dowling in going to a true 2-platoon. It may take a little time, but I think in the long run (over the next month) it will prove to help us a ton.
We just got so run down against Valley and had nothing left in the tank in the 4th quarter and had kids cramping up like crazy.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Floyd,

Schuring went to Hope and could have played.  I am only speculated but I think they want him ready for the IIAC season.

Thanks!  Maybe he might sit for another week. :D

Well I said that about Hope's all american D lineman last week.  That was wishful thinking on my part.

SC Stormchaser and Walston,

I did not see your picks this week for the pickem board did I miss them?  If I did please advise where there were so I can make corrections. Thanks.

Another smart coaching move keeping Schuring out...no need for him to get hurt againts Hope (no disrespect), when the important season starts next week. Need to have him fresh for Luther:)

Check out Sportsknights first play by play for the Dutch.  He did a great job except for one boo boo.  You Knight fans may catch it.  It happened on the first Dutch drive.  you can go to KNIAKRLS.com to listen to the Hope game.

Just listened back to it and now I do know what I did (other than not recognizing that Schuring wasn't in the game to start with).  Just as long as I had the last name, right 2004?

Nice work Sportsknight!  I listened to the first few minutes of the game, sounded like you actually knew what you were talking about...your color guy did a good job as well.  I didn't have to sort through all the "ahh's and umm's" like I do for the Wartburg games.  Thanks for the "TD Jesus" pic as well.

Congratultions to the IIAC this week with almost all of the school getting the "W".  UD looked to have a big week with 3 guys rushing for 100 yards or more and Coe's TeKippe looks to be a huge offensive threat to other IIAC defenses with a 300+ yard and 3 TD game.  Good luck to the Knights and Beavers...should be an exciting game with both teams getting the last two weeks to prepare.

When does the conference athlete of the week come out? I thought it came out on Monday afternoons. Hopefully Anthony Kobler of Cornell gets it. He passed for 402 yards saturday with 3 TDS. He also had 86 rushing yards and a td. Not bad for a guy who was supposed to be playing running back or slot receiver this year.

Congrats to Cornell and Kobler for his honor.  A great win for their program and IIAC.
