Sportsknight,

You can come join the tailgate in the South parking lot if you want to before the game Saturday.  The Knight in this family may be coming to the game.  He was not sure at this time if he was coming to the Central game or the Iowa Iowa State game.  Did you two attend the school of the Orange together?

Not sure how I overlooked Kobler's stats earlier tonight.  Congrats to him and the Rams...after reading the IIAC release, sounds like he was a major part of the win.

They must have posted that right after I posted my question because I looked on there and they still had last weeks up. Anyway congrats to Kobler and the Rams!

Neither Vance Schuring or Dustin Baethke are on the two deep for this Saturday's Central game against Luther.

Baethke was at a family member's funeral on Sunday, so he wasn't able to get checked out until today.  It's feared that his injury might be pretty bad...but no official word yet.

Veldhuizen will get another start at RB, while Badeaux starts at stinger.

Maybe Coach has a little Bill Belichek in him with the mysterious injury report and the odd release of the two-deep.  All he needs is the ragged hoodie to complete the ensemble.

But for a home game against LUTHER?????
Maybe week 11 but game 1 of the conference?

Looks like tailgating will have to be across the street from the tennis courts @ Wartburg. Too many construction trailers in the area @ the corner of 12th St + 5th Av. I suggest starting early because it's going to take more time to get into the stadium because of the construction zone.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Alfred-
How long until the new PEC is done? Are they playing volleyball games there? Will the alumni match be able to be there over homecoming?
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

DutchHawk

I wouldnt be surprised to see Vance go, but it does depend on how serious it is. Im not worried about Centrals ability to win without him though either. He has capable backups!

Here is what I know...I THINK. Football and soccer have moved into their new locker rooms. The training room has moved  out of the concession stand and into the new building. I think the the powers that be  are HOPING to have the first volleyball matches in the new facility before HC . Right now the VB team is playing @ W-SR high - in the old gym. The floor is still being installed in performance gym. They would like to have coaches that want to move mid-season into  their offices before HC game. I'm pretty sure FB will stay in Dier's house until the season is over.
There still a large opening in the west wall to get trucks in and out. Concrete had not been pour in aux gym or indoor track area. Still planning on all be done after Jan, 1.

You are right Alfred! ;D  The Norse had as tough of a season last year as the 1950 team.  Just sit both of the Dutch standouts and hold the QB out just in case so that they are all healthy for future games like when they play Wartburg. ;D

The Dutch hold a 46-21-1 lead in the all-time series. Central won just nine of the teams' first 23 meetings but has prevailed in 37 of the last 45. Luther's most recent win in the series was a 30-24 overtime decision in 2004 (From the Central Athletic website).

I think the Norse following is assuming that both of them or at least Vance Schuring will play.

Floyd,

Are you coming to the game on Saturday?

Yep, I haven't been to Pella for football in about 15 years so it is time as I have seen more Dutch games when they have been in Decorah.  I haven't usually enjoyed the outcomes against Central, but I have seen a lot of tough games between the two teams.  I have mostly always had a lot of respect for Dutch(men) Football.

It's not really an odd-release, as we get a two-deep early in the week every week.  Vance was on the two-deep last week, and then didn't play, so it's obviously not 100% gospel.  However, I'd be surprised if he did play after not being on the two-deep.
