I coach 9 Man ball over in Houston, MN.

Go Hurricanes!  Just a quick shout out for SE MN football (I graduated from Spring Grove in 2001).  I'm sure you seen me on the sidelines at Houston games in my Wartburg shirts shooting highlights for WKBT.  Not sure how long you have been at Houston, but any word on how Joe Taylor is doing at Luther?  Maybe a Norse fan can tell me?  I know he and his brothers used to go to SG then transfered to Houston...Joe plays defense for the Norse now....I think he is a senior this year.

SportsKnight...I'll make sure to make up a batch for Oct. 20th.

Willie University...hats off to you.  I came from a family where both parents were teachers, any "problem" kids in their classes always had to do with lack of parenting or parents not accepting responsibility for their kids actions (my dad "GAVE" their kid an "F" when really  the kid earned the "F")  My high school football coach got out of teacher because he loved to teach the kids, but hated putting up with the parents.

Good Ol' Natty ICE.

Natty ICE, The Beast, Schlitz, etc...they all work well

I know this was posted a long time ago but come on, you can't include "The Beast" in crappy beer!!!!  In my humble opinion there is NO SUCH thing as crappy beer.  Come on dbljay21, a little respect please.

False.
As my dad always told me, there's only three kinds of beer in this world:  warm, cold, and somebody else's.  That said, I think I'd rather lick the bottom of a football cleat than drink Miller Lite, Busch Light, The Beast, or Keystone.

FOOTBALL!!!!

11 hours until kickoff and this first conference game worries me.  I believe BV played a much better week 1 opponent than Wartburg.  I think that may have been better preparation for the IIAC opener.  If there is going to be a early conference upset this could be it.

My Knights better play like they mean it from the opening whistle.

Now the 'real' games begin!

Hey Willie you are exactly right.  And alot of the breakdown of the family unit  began with wives choosing (or being told they needed) to get a job.  That is not to say a mother cant work, only that it makes raising good kids a difficult balancing act.  Another aspect that is almost always mentioned but never really discussed is what making more money.  Materialism.  Almost all of us in our 40's or 50's can remember when we had little to no money.  My guess is that we all remember those times fondly.  Yet how many of our kids have had cell phones, video games, etc.  I remember spending every Sat , or most every day in the summer, with my friends playing baseball, football and so on.  If we didnt have enough guys we modified the game,  right field is out.   Kids dont play like that much anymore.  But they sure can tell you who is hot in the fantasy leagues. Ok enough of that.

As to the Iowa/Iowa State game.  I just checked and by some crazy luck I get the game on cable this year.  That is truley a miracle here in MAC/BIG TEN country.  I will call my bud in CR to wager a nickel-ninty eight on the Clones and have a good laugh.  ISU fans have been here before and we will get thru it.  We have had it good (overall) for some years but werent satisfied.  ISU has had great players and coaches in FB, BB, and wrestling.  This game has always been a big one for the state.  Of course it has gotten nasty.  Geez I remember Welch St looking more like the riots in Chicago than a campustown street.  Guys punching guys because of the color of their shirts.  I love this rivalry and can laugh about the Cyclone jokes....are there any good ones about Hawkeyes?  But a BIG Ten team in the same state as a Big 12 team is huge.  No where else does that occur except Iowa.  So I choose to support my Clones and revel in the pagentry that only occurs in Iowa.  I dont get all the games......unless ISU is really good and ESPN deems it worthwhile.

Lastly....man it would be nice to see Luther take one from Central today.

Norsefan...do we really have to go through this?  How many times since you have graduated from Luther have you actually BOUGHT "The Beast" when you wanted beer?  "The Beast" was fine for college because it is one of the cheapest kegs available.  I know we Tri-O's used it for Morning Keg because it has an appeal to those trying to make money at a party, but we always bought one keg of Miller Lite to tap before everyone started showing up that was just for us.

Crappy beers aside, how the hell you been???
Go Norse!!!

You said it Norsedad...after the disappointment I suffered through with the Curie Condors yesterday afternoon, I could really use a good pick me up.  And nothing would satisfy more than a Norse victory down in Dutch country.  Only 5 hours until kickoff... ;D

No doubt about it warthog...your knights open up with a tough one, but the friendly confines (not so friendly if you are the visiting team) of Walston Hoover Stadium will be the difference on Saturday.  BV is tough and I don't think the Knights will be over-looking them, especially on opening weekend for IIAC play.
Go Norse!!!

Hey dbjay...I have a bud that lives down on 63rd st and have been by Curie many times.  What conference are you in?

Norsedad,
We are in the Public Illini Red Bird Division.  We play Young, Lincoln Park, Mather, Steinmetz and Lane in our conference.  Come by on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and you can see my Sophomores against Lincoln Park.  My brother coaches with me and he is a Luther grad as well.
Go Norse!!!

The Show

Doubt that I'll have a radio or computer handy, so I'll have to wait with high hopes that the Beavers can pull off the upset this afternoon.  Their defense will keep them in it, just need the offense to give them some breathers.  I don't think Wartburg is looking past them after their win over Bethel.

Hope for no injuries and a great weekend of football in the IIAC!

Go Beavers!

Oh yeah, hopefully the game at Jack Trice is over by halftime as well, then I'll catch some BV/Wartburg broadcast...

Hurts to see my old team fall for a play like that....but what a play.  That was amazing!  Was that for a TD or for a 2 pt conversion?

Good luck to the Knights!  I'm having trouble with the internet connection at KWAR...possibly too many people plugged into the internet to listen, anyone know somewhere else on the internet I can hear the Wartburg/BV game?
