Try this:  If Wartburg at #13 beats Central at #8, is it an upset?

Since the game is being played in Waverly, I would say no.

I think that's how many of our voters think, as well. Home field advantage is worth a few spots in the poll.

I think Luther is going to be way more than just a challenge for the Rams but you can read my post on the pick em for that.

As far as medical hardship Schuring aslready had one so I doubt that he would go for another, that and I dont know the nature of the injury. I would not be surprised if the coaches were being very protective of him until he was for sure 100 percent. Our toughest run of games is late so as long as were winning ugly now, hopefully Schuring will come back and help us finish out winning pretty!(And having Dustyn Baethke will certainly help the D too!!)

Good thing the Rams will be up for the challenge!  ;D

I dont think you can qualify for more than one medical redshirt in a career.  I may be wrong though.  I think Andy TeKippe went through similar circumstances.  He had a medical redshirt for an elbow injury at Kirkwood and then was not able to take one last year with his knee injury.

Plus, if Schuring already has taken a redshirt for medical, this is his 5th year right?  Maybe it is me, but if he came back to Central for a 6th year that is not really the spirit of being a D3 student/athlete.

Pat Coleman

I am fairly certain you get just one medical hardship year.

This is actually only his 3rd year at Central (I think).  He started out at Truman State and transferred.  But still, your point about going to school for 6 years is valid.

Tekippe didn't want to redshirt.  He wanted to come back and play at the end of last year in hopes that Coe would have made the playoffs.

On Wartbug and Central, what do 5 spots in the rankings really mean if everyone is undefeated and those two teams are playing the same schedule.  I don't think the rankings mean anything for that game.  If Wartbug was just around 25 and Central was where they are then it may be considered an "upset".

My Knights better worry about getting some payback on Dubuque otherwise all this talk about end-of-season contests will end up being just talk.
You are what you accomplish, otherwise its just talk.

Says the coach,  and looking at your coach speak there.  Do you have any head coaching aspirations?  Or are you happy with your regular job and coaching on the side?

There's about 1 day a week (usually Friday) That I wish coaching was a full-time gig. Other than that I really like my job and the freedom of being self-employed allows me to get the best of both worlds, making money AND coaching the sport we all love.
If there is a way to make the minutes on Fall Friday tick by a little faster, please let me know though.
There are guys in my profession (financial advisor) that are head coaches, although I have no idea how they make it work. Maybe in the next few years I'll figure it out.

Hmm, my wife's cousin is a self employed finantial advisor working in Des Moines and from Aplington.  But I know he didn't play football at Wartburg or currently work as an assistant coach...so there you go.

If Dubuque doesn't get 10 or more penalties for 100 yards or more this coming saturday I think we are in for a very good, hard hitting game between the Knights and Spartans.
