Pat,

I was not disputing the vote.  The voter has to vote how he or she feels.  I just said I didn't understand it.  I think the D3 poll while it has some quirks (as does anything that we mortals do) is the best poll out of any at any level.  There does not seem to be any political agendas to satisfy.  If that voter really thought that coe was the #24 team in the country I am sure that they voted it that way.

On our way home from Des Moines yesterday I noticed a house just north of Toledo on Hwy 63 on the west side of the road with a big Central College Dutch sign in their yard.  Anybody from this board own that or have seen it???

Tough day on Saturday to be a Storm fan. We certainly had our chances to win. Two times on the one yard line and came away empty.

In my opinion, this is not the #6 team in the nation. I've seen much better Central teams in the past. I realize your stud running back has been injured and maybe they were just "running through the motions," but against their big rival? That would scare me as a Cental fan, but a win is a win.

This team might have "top 5 - Wisconsin" written all over it.

Didn't say you were disputing the vote. :)

Had a chance to see the Coe vs. Dubuque game on Saturday, and while I don't think that I would say the better team won, I will definitely say that this is the type of game that Dubuque would not have won 3 or 4 years ago.  I didn't see any of the discipline/breakdown problems that the Spartans have been known for in the past, all I saw was a solid football game that is going to give itself a chance to win every game that it is in.  As the game wore on, I thought that Coe was starting to do a good job of taking over the game as the Spartan defense looked to be tiring, but they made some great plays when they had needed them.  One thing I will say about Coe is that they have the makings of beating Central and Wartburg.  Their defense is going to hang right with anyone's offense, and they look like they're starting figure some things out on offense.  I was especially impressed with the drive in the second half when they had #3 in at running back, I don't know if Wagner was dinged or what, but #3 seemed to give them an explosiveness that Wagner either just has not shown or doesn't have.  A consistently quick explosive threat out of the backfield would work wonders for that offense.  Also, it's been talked about how the offensive line needed some work, but I thought they played a pretty decent ballgame on Saturday aganist and athletic front from UD.

warthog mentioned the women's golf championship...being a Simpson grad, I always am interesting in how Coach Darrah's girls do. I noticed that BV didn't even have enough women to field a team. How can a school finish in the top 3 or 4 the past few years (I think they even won the IIAC in the past 5 years) and not even have the golfers to compete as a team? I wonder if they lost a coach? I know, I know...this is a  football board, but I found that interesting, especially when discussing the low numbers at BV.

Former Ram,

Since you saw the game at Coe, what happened in OT?  Was the INT forced by UD or a bad mistake by the Offense?

Purple Heys

I'm out of the state of Iowa for one week and all hell breaks loose...

Coulda been worse though, at least Coe lost.

Was busy all day and isolated from all forms of electronic communication on Saturday (maybe it was for the best).

Then I got to my cell phone.  The horror!

Then I hear of Wartburg's egg-laying..followed by USC.

I got to thinking,  we're Cornell and in three weeks time we've managed to provide each team we've played with IIAC Player of the Week honors.  That's gotta count for something!

Yeah. I'm disappointed.  I thought this was a good chance to win one.  Credit to the Beev's for great game.

The Ram's need to forget it and come back together and compete.

I looked and looked and couldn't find the info.

For those in the know.  Where is a good place to get some food and a drink before or maybe after the game in Mt. Vernon this coming weekend?  Any help would be much appreciated.

I got this one for ya, Rams fans. Chameleon's, First street, I believe. Take a right at the lights, end of first block on your right. Worth the stop.

Polls should only really matter to those that create them, IMO.  All they do is create fictional drama.  What is an "upset" when you really sit back and think about it (or should I say to whom is it an upset)?  It's cliche, but "anything can happen on any given day."

I'm actually on the side of that SJU poster.  I really haven't seen anything out of the IIAC again this year that makes me think that our conference would make a stink in the post season ().  It hurts me to say that (being a Central fan), but I'm just not getting the impression that urgency to execute perfection is on anyone's mind.  The automatic bid from the IIAC has ended in heartache for this fan too many times in recent years.  Sure, there have been some close ones, but close only counts when dancing with big breasted women.

But then again, "anything can happen," I guess, and hopefully that "anything" can prove to be something other than heartache this year.

Just a couple of pennies out there...

Dutch Fan 2004 - It was just a nice play by the UD defender.  Coe's receiver ran a nice route and was trying to get some YAC and the UD player just punched the ball out from behind.  Ball security seemed to be a bit of an issue all day long on the Coe side.

Looking at the stats from the UD/Coe game it looks like overtime was appropriate.

First downs Coe had 20 to Dubuque's 18
Total yards were 336 for Coe to 333 For Dubuque
Turnovers were 3 for each team
Each team was 7-19 on 3rd down conversions
Dubuque was 1-3 on 4th down conversions with Coe going 1-2
Each team was 3-4 in the red zone
The only real difference was Dubuque had 2 penalties for 20 yds while Coe had 9 penalties for 64 yds.
