So it was a fumble not an INT as in the IIAC recap?  That is a heck of a play by the D then.  The stats put it as a close one.

Yeah, it was definitely a fumble.  I liked the play call, they spread the field and the receiver just hooked up in a hole in the middle of the field.  Dubuque's defender showed good closing speed and popped the ball out.  I would expect one heckuva game this weekend down in Pella.

I would agree with that.  Coe is a good team and always gives a good effort.  The game the last three years has been decided by 3 points each year and I don't expect anything less than that this year.

It was an int technically.  Welborn caught the pass, and was hit almost simultaneously and the ud defender popped the ball out right into the hands of another defender.  Would have been interesting if the ball hit the ground how they would have ruled it.  Crazy play, but you have to have 2 hands on the ball, especially in overtime.  It would have been 1st and 10 from around the 12 yard line.

Coe definitely had some times they could have ended the game, two dropped int's by breitbach could have iced it.  All though, they would have been great plays and great breaks on the ball, he let 2 go through his hands.

Big week for the kohawks last time coe lost to dbq they ended up with a share of the title..

I wondered about that as the IIAC stats show that Tekippe did not have any INT's yet.  So was he not the QB or is there a mistake in the stats?

I think it originally showed as an int and has since been changed to a fumble.  The original stats I saw showed Coe with 336 for total yards and they now show as 351.  Which would make since if you turned an interception into a complete pass and then a fumble.

I looked and looked and couldn't find the info.

For those in the know.  Where is a good place to get some food and a drink before or maybe after the game in Mt. Vernon this coming weekend?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Chameleon's is the best tavern for burgers and beer.  The Lincoln Cafe is a more urbane, professorial atmosphere...not exactly your boisterous football crowd, but the food can be quite good...they once had Guinness Ice Cream.  Had to try it, kinda liked it.  There's Pizza joints too...it's all downtown; stumbling distance from the field.

It's Homecoming and last year's fireworks on Friday night were unbelievable

I'll be tailgating in the Parent's section at Ash Park...the Motorhome parked just outside the Player Entrance Gate.   And I WILL be wearing my Ram Horns proudly.

I can't make any promises. ;D   I wanted to try that last weekend but I was the only one home with our son and I didn't think that would be too safe to have him sitting on my lap while I wheeled the mower around the yard.  As it turned out we stopped playing with the legos and I had him jumping up and down cheering near the end of the game as we listened to the webcast.  I don't think he was really following the game, just copying me.  Good thing my wife couldn't see how stupid I looked during all that.

Depending on nap time for the little one this coming weekend I will either bring him along to Mt Vernon to the game or my mother-in-law will come watch him if his nap goes long and my dad and I will head down there.  Now, that is the plan, but I know that often changes.

That makes some sense then.  All the info helps explain this.

Tough day for the Knights...but sounds like they only have themselves to blame.  I'm sure Koehler will not let them do that again.  They will try their best to move on an learn from this experience.  Hopefully if they get into a tough situation down the road they don't start doubting themselves.  Only the 5th loss at W-H since the first game back in 2001 when it opened...I still remember that game (the stadiums and my first game as a Knight)

The loss is a little bit of a blow to the IIAC pride as well losing to an MIAC school.  We have some strong conferences surrounding us and we haven't had the best showing in the playoffs.  All of the non-conference games are as important as the conference games to show the rest of the country that every team in the IIAC is tough...even those with losing records at the bottom of the standings, many of them would be at the top of many other conferences.

Congrats to Chris Hawkins...school record and tie a IIAC record is quite an accomplishment.  Looks like BV was sick of everyone doubting them, they really came to play this past weekend.

Tough loss for Coe, but I had a feeling UD would be making some "upsets" this year.  Congrats to Luther on another win...looked like too little too late from ex-Knight Mike Hachey for the DuHawks.

dbljay21. I've been think about your question from a couple of posts ago if it the coachs are responsiable

doolittledog

Looking up the stats from the UD/Coe game I have a question.  How does Dubuque end with 38:29 in time of possession and Coe end with 36:31 in time of possession?  Even if you added OT which you wouldn't Dubuque scored a TD in 4 plays and then Coe was intercepted in 1 play.  I don't think that would equal 15 extra minutes.

First sorry about the last post, hit the wrong button.
dbljay21. ref; your question if it falls of the coachs for the engery or the players. To me that a very good question. I think some of it falls on the coach to make sure the plays understand how important every game is. But the players are the one on the field and if they are looking pass a team, I don't think there must a coach can do on game day. I would really like to hear from the coachs on the post. I'm not sure if you asked the question about Wartburg looking pass anyone before. I think they looked pass Dubuque last year cause all the talk that week was who they would play in they plays after they beat Dubuque.

You gotta believe that come end of the year both Wartburg and Bethel are going be kicking themselves if the losses to Augsburg and BV respectively, are what holds them back from the playoffs.

You can almost hear the selection committee now...both teams almost have to run the table in their conferences or they will be dependent upon scenarios of who beats who from here on out.
