Purple Heys

Of course it only seems that way for the top NWC schools such as Linfield and Whitworth since they are resorting to scheduling D2 and NAIA schools because of a decreasing number of willing D3 non-league opponents in their general area.  Playing up hurts their records and doesn't give them D3 reference wins.

The SCIAC teams seem to be moving away from scheduling Linfield and Whitworth and in favor of scheduling Louise & Clark.

With no possibility of an undefeated champ and a one loss team, probably the only way to get two teams in, is with two one loss teams. Come on Dutch, take one for the conferewnce. The WIAC and the MIAC, considered stronger right or wrong, would probably place a one loss team in ahead of the IIAC.
There is a good possibility that the WIAC & MIAC could have 2nd place teams with two losses, although St. Olaf sqeeking one out last week hurt. At least one playoff worthy team will be staying home. Best of luck to all.

I liked Purple Heys assessment of the Central - Dubuque game this Saturday.  As a long suffering Spartan fan, its been a while since UD played a game this signficant.  If it wasn't a 7 hour drive, I think I would make the trip ... but I'll have to be satisfied with Internet radio listening.  Go Spartans!

Welcome to the board DBQ1965.  Nice to see another Spartan on here.

My read on possible playoff implications...

IF the DBQ wins AND Wartburg wins out, the Kanigits get the AQ...how can you keep out the Spartans on the strength of ending Central's streak, a win at Coe, and a lone loss to Wartburg (presuming the Sparties polish their resume by winning out).

The committee is not going to look at a possible Dubuque win over Central as playoff worthy simply because it ended a streak of 24 games. That bucket holds no water in my opinion.  Although I dont see us having to worry about that! :)

Au contraire...A win over a 10-1 or 9-2  team has to look like a high-quality win...the fact that it ended the streak will no doubt be in some voters minds

Its a committee not a bunch of voters. Ending a regular season win streak wont carry much, It will matter the quality of wins they had to some extent but it was said that keeping out the Spartans solely on the basis of ending Centrals streak(see above) is not going to get them in the playoffs. If however DBQ finishes with one loss then it will help them get a Pool B bid.  Take a look over the rules that Pat has linked to the Pool B situation somewhere on the front page.

Dutchhawk,

Dubuque since it is a member of the IIAC which has a pool A or AQ bid can not get a pool B bid.  They would have to get a Pool C bid.

How many supporters for each IIAC team do we have on the board now?  I know that every school is represented, but I was just curious how many followers each school has...

There are no duhawk faithful, at least not since they have fallen to a bottom feeder. Confused is here once in a while but all the loud and annoying duhawk posters (house, etc) of times past must be just reading with nothing to say when their team is struggling. At least the loyal fans of the spartan nation are here rain or shine. Of course a few more always when it is shining  ;D

The voice of the KING of the SPARTAN NATION (Spurrier) should surely motivate the Spartans to perform to their best this weekend!!

Good luck to all the teams except Central (this weekend, I have always had a lot of respect for your program) and Lorass (of which I will never support or respect)
