The guys I have been coaching have been particularily chirpy this year. I don't know what to attribute it to because every time it happens, the guys get yanked.
A guy from our opponent did a "flying burrito" into the endzone after returning a fumble for a TD last friday in a soph game. The refs didn't flag him. I was irate.
Lorbec-Appreciate the kind words about A-P. Truth is, if Eddie T ever saw someone say a word to the opponent or the ref, he drags them off the field by their facemask. We young coaches can't get away with that, but the good'ol boys can.
I save my true trash talking for Coe  and message boards.
Luther gets in all in jest because of the rivalry.
Central gets it out of respect.
There may be some emails exchanged this week with some Simpson guys as working with Coach WIlliams has introduced me to their crowds.
I think the reason I never talked during the game in college was because I didn't know what to say. About the only thing we boys from small towns could talk trash about was how our corn in Bremer County was taller than the stuff in Dubuque County.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Good for you, Walston...its important for the players to understand that there are things they absolutely CANNOT get away with.  We preach discipline to our kids and we are tough on them when it comes to maintaining their discipline.  Good football teams have discipline.  If we want to be good, we have to be disciplined.  And I believe that is an absolute truth for ANY football team at ANY level.

Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Was reading the Dubuque press release and saw that they used Don Hansens ratings...of which I think are the most unreliable. For example they have Central at 5 (not far off the other polls) but they have Dubuque at 5-2 at 25th and Wartburg at 38th. Wartburg did lose to Augsburg which hurts them but isnt Dubuque a little overrated considering they lost to Wartburg as well?

Didn't they throw snowballs at him, too?

Yes they did...and they cheered when Michael Irvin was taken off on a stretcher

OK, while I am not known to use foul language at ball games or in the parking lots prior to games, I reserve the right to call Lance Harbor a *&)%$@#$  and a  <(%$#+^] if he doesn't start posting regularly.

Can anyone give a report on how all the IIAC JV teams have done this year?

Where has he been?  I saw he posted last week, but haven't heard from him since  ???  He brings good topics and posts to the board.

I'm a Linfield guy and even I like Lance's posts! He needs to become a regular again instead of the occasional drive-by. The guy's knowledge is amazing.

Never use accurate or commonly accepted ratings when you can use ratings that make you look good -- that seems to be the motto some places.

Well, I survived my "education" this weekend.  Some of what I learned:

#1.  I am a sinner.
#2.  I am a sinner.
#3.  During non-fertile times, the cervix is firm like your chin.  During fertile times, it softens and feels more like the tip of your nose. :o

Thanks for the updates, 67 ;)

Sorry to say but the Knight JV is having an 0-fer year so far.Coe escaped yesterday with a hard fought 2 point victory at Cedar Rapids.Things were a little dicey as Wartburg was down to one QB and Coe lost a couple of players to injury also.Brian Schmidt was a bright spot with some nice running.TRhe knights recoverd an onside kick after scoring with about a minute left, but couldn't convert. The last JV game is against Simpson next Sunday at 2:00.

Long live the Evil Emipre!
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Perhaps you could needle Cornell out of pure disdain.
