I'm working on one.  It is about a bunch of overweight has beens who argue in a chat room about which of their old college teams is currently dominating their former conference.   :P  I'll probably never get it made, because I refuse to give Walston a royalty check.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Walston Hoover

Doesn't matter where I get my info. If something turns out to be not true sometime, you guys feel free to call me out on it. Until then, keep accusing me of whatever you want.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Coocoo-that's the beauty of these message boards. Everyone here generally has pretty strong ties to their school and pretty good info. If you guys want to get some really good stuff, try going to any of the Regents Institution sports websites and watch guys who have never played, never known anyone who played for, and maybe saw a game on TV once call for a coach's head because he doesn't run the football enough.

I have a hard time believing that the coaches wife was yelling F-Bombs at the person escorting Coe off the field at halftime, mostly because she was standing about 20 yards from where I was right by the Coe stands.

Hey WH... get back to work chief.  TT won't be happy to know how much time you spend bantering with idiots that support Coe :)

Just going by the three times I've met Raeburn, and in talking to a couple of his current players,I can believe the stories about him being less than cordial after the game.If any Coe supporters who have actually ever talked to him can give me evidence otherwise,I'll change my opinion.

Say has anyone heard that Hall is out for Loras?  I am pondering my picks for the pickem board and I don't think Loras has a chance without him.  Also pondering the Coe/Luther game.  Is Sherden full strength?  If not then the edge goes to Coe.

The edge may already be with Coe anyway since they have won the last three meetings with the Norse.  I haven't heard of any recent problems with Sherden and he looked plenty healthy the last two weeks.  Here are his running stats from the last two weeks:

B.V. - 37 carries for 269 yards and a TD
Waldorf (played half of the game) - 16 carries for 185 yards and 2 TDs

The stats against the Beavers obviously have more meaning than what happened against Waldorf.

Luther on the year is averaging 26.7 ppg and are giving up 21.4 ppg.

Coe is averaging 19.9 ppg and are giving up 14.6 ppg.

Coe is +10 in turnovers while Luther is +4.

Luther is 3rd in the conference in 3rd down conversions while Coe is last.

Coe and Luther are 2nd and 3rd in the league keeping the opponents from gaining first downs.  They are also 2nd and 3rd in rushing defense while the Norse are 2nd in rushing offense.

It should be a good game, especially from a defensive perspective.

Good lord, I take the morning off to go with my daughters preschool class to a pumpkin farm and when I get back to the office the way back machine kicked in and we're back to august with Coe and Wartburg fans going at it again.

I totally agree Floyd, should be a defensive slug fest. The Norse may have a slight advantage in that they got to rest their walking wounded and may have snuck in an extra day or two of prep in practice last week. Coe probably off sets that with home field advantage and an ugly disposition after last week.
As for the lingering Coe vs. Wartburg thing, as Michael Vick might say, I don't have a dog in this fight. However I don't see why anyone except the University that hired him, or the players that play for him, would care what kind of guy he is.

Because its UD vs. Loras this Saturday ... do you throw out the record books for such a cross-town rivalry and get ready for one hell-of-a-football game?  How will (1) last Saturdays loss to Central and (2) this Saturday's Homecoming affect the outcome?

As a side note, I was back at UD teaching in the late 60's and early 70's when UD - Loras athletic competition resumed ... starting with basketball.  Those were some pretty intense games.  The story (probably apocryphal) was in the late 50's at a UD - Loras wrestling match ... in a very tight, heavyweight class match, the Loras wrestler somehow managed the grab the back of the UD wrestler's jockstrap and snap it.  The UD wrestler then responded equally inappropriately and that set off all the fans in the stands with a "riot" ensuing.  Athletic competiton between the two schools was suspended for more than a decade.

The Iowa Conference in those days included Parsons College, Iowa Wesleyan, and Upper Iowa, but not Coe, Cornell, or Loras.

All that from the "For What It's Worth" Department.

Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

is any coach not pissed off after a loss? especially one against your rivalry?  I'm sure Koehler would have been just as pissed off.  i know stories from reaburn at conference meetings where willis wouldn't even talk with him.  i know for a fact that reaburn wasn't yelling at his players after the game.  he was much more emotional after the game then ever with the players, saying how it is more important to make relationships with your teammates/players then win the games.  i loved suckows quote in the paper saying how he didnt want to run from his old teammates, but the first time he talked with jermey squires (his "best friend" while at coe) was the week before the game
the coe players seemed extremely flat for a game of this magnitude.  guys on the sideline seemed down.  nobody seemed to be fired up.

Have there been any Loras fans on here lately?  I know I saw Lorbec posted a few times, but he sounds like he is back on the Spartan side of this rivalry (brother graduated from Loras this last spring?).

How much does Dubuque and Loras actually compete for the same recruits?

How do the Loras and B.V. fans think about Coach Osterberger and the Beaver and Duhawk programs two years into the switch?

Thanks.

So if Wartburg is the "Evil Empire", then is losing to Augsburg like Darth Vader getting his a$ kicked by...what were those little teddy bear things called...wookies?? ewoks...something like that...im not up on my star wars.. haha

At least let us be the inept other pilots of space craft that are on their way to destroy the Death Star!  I mean, we've won 3 games this year, and have one of the toughest schedules in D3.  Don't make us be furry, glorified rodents!
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

That wouldn't work at all.  There are already furry, glorified rodents from Minneapolis, and the Gophers wouldn't have any shot at beating Wartburg this year.

doolittle,

Nice to see you back.  I thought you have been pretty silent.  Maybe that flu did you in.  Nice to see that you are among the living.  + k for the way back machine comment.  I loved that cartoon for the life of me I can not recall the name.  It was on rocky and bulwinkle wasnt it.  The dog and his boy.  Sherman was the boy I believe.
