Floyd--

I am back on the Spartan bandwagon. Brother graduated from Loras last spring and I don't really follow them anymore. Although I haven't made it to a ton of UD games, I've listened to them on the radio when I can. It will be interesting watching UD/Loras this weekend with him, haha...although I gotta say UD was the much faster team last year and the Spartan faithful remembers what happened.

I don't know who posted it before but I can't totally agree with the Suckow thing. I don't feel that if Wartburg lost a reigning what 3(?)-time all-conference selection that they would be able to replace them two weeks before the season.

And while the gloves are off...ummm...Walston for lack of a better person, A-P and Wartburg both stink. Hit and run.  ;D

That response coocoo was to Charlie bringing up Suckow working at Koehler's house this summer.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

The point to my last post was not to say we don't have thin skin, we do.  To say that the knight fans skin is thicker, well I just don't see the evidence.

Both of those posts, mine and Charlie's, were jokes.  You did not take them that way.  Nor did Dsquared.  That's my point.  As I continued to joke you guys got more mad.  I'm sorry I criticised your book title as that was the direction our discussion should have taken.  Jokes back and forth.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

yikes......the last 5 pages have been a bit interesting but mostly ridiculous.  So I grabbed what seemed to be an appropiate CD....Nine Inch Nails-Things falling apart....tossed it in the computer...and read them all.  Hey Charlie check out the 3rd cut "The Wretched."  I quit posting here because the posting had become more hateful and less good-natured ribbing.  At first I figured that most posters were 20-something or maybe even early 30's....but with the reference of Rocky & Bullwinkle and Peabody and Sherman I know better...unless they are watching TVland Network.  Now dont get me wrong....rivalry is great and as we know with the Iowa/ISU game can create and manifest great games.  But most of this has gone beyond good taste and common sense.  +k to Heys and dbjay and willie and others for trying to keep it light.  I have been reading the IIAC blog here at D3 for 4 years.  Most was funny and much informative.  This is just ridiculous.  Not that it makes much difference to me....I just quit reading....it does seem to degrade the IIAC site....not that it doesnt happen on other conference sites....it does...just that I thought the good people associated with Iowa Conference football would be a bit more controlled and good-natured.  +K for W-H, Floyd, and DF04 for all the inside info and knowledge over the years...I know I am leaving many out...over the years.  However, it seems to me that its time to get back to this weeks games and the possiblity that the IIAC gets 2 teams in the playoffs.  Possible topics...Wartburg beats Central in last game, Luther runs the table....Cornell beats Coe.....best QB in the conference...Connell in MHO...best rusher...Sherden....WR???.......how about it guys?  Well the NIN's CD is over and I have ranted all that I care to for a week.  I hope all the IIAC players are injury-free this week and that the IIAC gets 2 teams in play-offs and that we go deep.

Yes we did...6-3 automatic qualifier.  We play Elmhurst York on Friday night in Elmhurst.  They are a big, physical football team, but I think we have an advantage because we are more athletic and are playing very aggressively right now.  It will be fun...I am very nervous already and its only Thursday  :)

yeah York has a great history and were very good when I was in HS back in the dark ages.....but I am sure you will have the boys ready to take it to them.  Good Luck to you and the condors as they soar to a victory.  I get to stay at home and listen to a couple of IIAC games and watch college fb on tv this week.  After 5 weeks of going to games.

I guarantee that we will be ready to go on Friday night...our boys have something to prove.  A win would get us a possible re-match against Whitney Young and we most definitely owe them a beatdown.  We appreciate the support!

My take on the Coe vs. Wartburg is that I see Coe fans challenging Wartburg fans on issues, and when There is a resonse in kind,Coe fans retreat and say "Oops, just joking!". This isn't a court of law,and no one needs to have undisputed eyewitness accounts. How could you prove it anyway? I could say I saw Raeburn and Koehler dancing the hokey-pokey on the 50 yard line and you can't say I did or didn't.But there has been a lot of anecdotal eveidence piling up that seems to indicate someting happened.

And in the grand scheme of things?BFD!

We won,you lost. We'll see you next year in Cedar Rapids and you can attempt to beat us down  on the field while the fans play "What's that smell?".
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Hey Charlie check out the 3rd cut "The Wretched."
Seems appropriate enough. Almost therapeutic.

"The Wretched"

just a reflection
just a glimpse
just a little reminder
of all the what abouts
and all the might have
could have beens
another day
some other way
but not another reason to continue
and now you're one of us
the wretched

the hopes and prays
the better days
the far aways
forget it

it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, did it?
it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to, did it?

now you know
this is what it feels like
now you know
this is what it feels like

the clouds will part and the sky cracks open
and god himself will reach his f***ing arm through
just to push you down
just to hold you down
stuck in this hole with the s&%$ and the piss
and it's hard to believe it could come down to this back at the beginning
sinking
spinning

and in the end
we still pretend
the time we spend
not knowing when
you're finally free
and you could be

but it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to
it didn't turn out quite the way that you wanted it

now you know
this is what it feels like
now you know
this is what it feels like

you can try to stop it but it keeps on coming
you can try to stop it but
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Have there been any Loras fans on here lately?  I know I saw Lorbec posted a few times, but he sounds like he is back on the Spartan side of this rivalry (brother graduated from Loras this last spring?).

How much does Dubuque and Loras actually compete for the same recruits?

How do the Loras and B.V. fans think about Coach Osterberger and the Beaver and Duhawk programs two years into the switch?

Thanks.

In response to Floyd in Iowa City -

As a former player of Coach O - he is a great coach and motivator but there is only so much that coaches can do for a team.  The players need to be able to step up and do their part as well.  I'm sure that he along with the Loras team and fans have to be pounding themselves in the head after last week's comeback by the beavers.

The beavers head coach Jay Anderson is also another good coach and is well respected by the players and beaver supporters.  The recruiting needs to be at the top of his list for next year and will be vital for the program with the loss of this year's senior class.

Maybe this can lead to some other discussion besides the Coe - Wartburg dispute has been going on far to long.  Congrats to the Knights on the win - You are the better team now move on to a different topic.

SPARTAN FAN HERE....to be honest, UD and Loras dont really compete for the same kids..Loras used to get a ton of kids from Chicago, they ha da relationship with a few high schools in the city...not sure about now. Since Vince got to UD, they have increased the scope of their recruiting to nationwide..and to be honest, I'm not sure what kind of rep UD has in Iowa, to get good kids from the state

Norsedad - dbljay21:

I gotta go with the York Dukes.   ;)

As a small town Iowa kid, I was always dazzled when we'd visit cousins over the Thanksgiving holiday and go to the holiday basketball tournaments. There were dozens of teams in the city league and out in the suburbs that would win the Iowa high school tournament without breaking a sweat.  Generally York was one of them.

really? I used to live in Elmhurst and went to some York games..they never impressed me, but as a point of reference, I never saw an Iowa basketball game.
