the Knights seemed flat at times.
[sarcasm]Inside sources (never to be revealed) report this to be completely false...and impossible.  Lay off the crack, buddy. [/sarcasm]

It's time for the Dutch to go berzerker, and restore peace to the galaxy.

I don't know what you were expecting from the D.
gave up right at their average for points and almost 30 yards under their yards per game average.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

"Average" won't win the conference.  Sorry.

Go Dutch!

If Wartburg gives up their average next week, we are all celebrating at the Goat on Saturday night.
Has OldBeake been in the sauce today?

Came away today very impressed with the Phelan kid. He did a heck of a job for a freshmen backup. Honestly if it were someones first time watching that team you would have never known he was a backup. Congrats to him for stepping in and doing the job. I came away even more impressed with Wartburgs defense. Next weekend will be a helluva game for the conference championship.

I'm already looking forward to the Coe game next week. Coe Sux! ;D

What is that supposed to mean?
Has OldBeake been in the sauce today?
Oh yeah...Wartburg people read this.  I'll type slower <snicker, snicker>.

It's on, baby!

The week for which we've all been waiting!

And yes, my friend, an old beake is always in, on, quaffing, and renting the sauce.  That's what we do (much to the chagrin of our alma mater).

Central treats the IIAC championship much like it treats a dollar bill.  You see...when you ask a Dutchman to hold a dollar bill between his/her index finger and thumb, and ask him/her to separate said finger and thumb...it's an impossibility.

The championship is in the Flying Dutchmen's grasp...time to put it in the pocket.

Go Dutch!

Wasn't able to listen to the game because of other kids' activities this morning...Caught some game updates via cell phone "reporter" on the scene.

...Cornell couldnt punt to save their lives.

No doubt on that...it's actually kind of pathetic.  1st two punts were 21 and 14 yards.  It's a shame...no doubt it's tougher a when you get rushed a bit but come on...  This is something that doesn't even give that defense a chance.  It's a detail that the coaches will need to address for next year, as it has been a problem all year.

QuoteThey also threatened twice in the first half and couldn't finish those drives either..

Biggest reason as to why Cornell is in the O-fer streak in IIAC.  Another one, the defense made an outstanding stop, keeping it to 21-7.  Would have been an opportune time to drive length of the field the other way and a chance to get back in the game; but instead fumble right back and Wartburg finished what it started 28-7, game over.

Last week when Cornell fumbled into the end zone blowing a chance to make it 26-21.  In that instance our worthy opponent subsequently drove the other way, 33-14, game over.

LOL

Man...I can't wait for this game!

I was SO hoping that Wartburg didn't pull an Auggie today...and my hopes came true!

There's nothing better than beating a rival that hasn't lost in the conference, and whomever claims that victory (read: Central) knows that they've beaten "the best."  What a way to end the season (read: Central victory)!

Go Dutch!

I actually was expecting that they would do better than their average against the below average Rams...

Phelan was 14-22 for 216...Not bad for a backup

As mentioned, Suckow hobbled off and didn't return. 1 catch for 1 yard.
Knights with a convincing win playing shorthanded.

Convincing?  You figured to win by less than the final count?

We lost more "convincingly" to the DBQ and BV.   ;)

Congrats to the Buena Vista University Beavers today.  This isnt going to be a post filled with UD bashing.  They are a quality ball squad who stumbled today.

I will express my frustration with the BV boys and their lack of consistancy this year.  I wish we could have seen this ball club all year, the one that beat Bethel, and all there other wins this year.

Lets finish the season out strong with a big win over Simpson and finish the year above .500 and gives these seniors something to hang there hat on.

Congrats to all the IIAC winners today and good luck going into the final week next week.

I also want to express my congratulations to all the seniors playing their final game next week.  Each one of them helped their team impove in one way or another and there accomplishments deserve to be noted.
