More Coe trivia:

Q:  Why did Coe install artificial turf in the off season?

A:  Overgrazing by their cheerleaders was a constant problem.
This from a Ram fan? HA!!!

It was reported that Coe head football coach Erik Raeburn only be dressing twenty players for the Cornell game. The rest of the players will have to get dressed by themselves.
And Cornell will only be dressing 20 because that's all they have!

first time poster.  cornell really only has 20 people.  i shouldnt talk smack because this is my first post but i just want to say coe took it to Loras and we'll be back next year as long as we find a replacement for our QB

Floyd in Iowa City

Congrats to Coe today for scoring all of those points against a normally tough Loras Defense.

Wow B.V.! :o  I know the trip to Storm Lake is the distant conference trip for the Spartans, but congrats to the Beavers for good wins over Bethel and Dubuque this year combined with that crazy comeback over Loras.  Did something happen to the Dubuque RB as it looked like Jackson was the main productive player for the Spartan Offense?  Good win for all of those seniors in Storm Lake.

Luther won, but I feel better about the Iowa win over the Wildcats after aging three years in Decorah.  Congrats to Simpson for coming back from 17 down in the 2nd quarter.  Sherden not only popped a bunch of longer runs today, but he also had some physical runs that busted some tackles and carried other defenders as he was churning them out.  He had 5 carries or so when he was lined up at QB.  Besides breaking his own school record for single game rushing, Tyler also had a 72-yard TD called back because of holding.

As oldNorse said, he also broke the single season rushing record today.  He also went over 3,200 yards in the game.  He has played parts of 20 games as RB as a Norse.

Lamos got 10 carries today and Lower got a couple.  I guess that helped a little since the passing game offered little balance to the running of Tyler.

The Norse Defense struggled much more at times today than they have at any point since the Central game.  Congrats to Simpson for some good play calling, etc. but it was getting very old watching the Storm run successful screens the whole 2nd half.  It was like watching Minnesota blow that huge lead against Michigan in the Dome several years ago.  I think Glen Mason still has nightmares about that game and the screen passes that his defense never stopped.

Congrats to Navy as well today!

Oh yeah, and St. Olaf scored 85 points against Carleton today!  They must have been watching what Kansas did to Nebraska today.

I think Davey is upset...he must not like my comments. I was just pointing out a fact, I didnt see him around and how wouldnt it be suspicious? You suspend a guy for the bottom feeding team and then bring him back for the Conference championship? If it was an offense punishable by 1 game then Koehler should have stepped up and done it right away for the Loras game. Then we wouldnt be having this conversation. If its not worth suspending then why did the Wartburg administration hand it down now? Make some sense please. Either way I just like getting you riled up.

Congrats to BV...I would say that is a statement game for their program with said numbers being low and all. Hopefully they finish strong! Also to Luther as well...going into Dubuque with them being down...Sherden seems to be on a roll...MVP candidate for sure!

Dave - Im not calling for his head, quote me where you see me saying I want him kicked out or beheaded, I think the punishment should fit the crime and it seems no one on here knows the full story at this point in time.

It doesnt matter anyway, aren't you supposed to talk a little trash before a big game?

yea football is all about fun.  eventhough coe didnt win the conference every team had to worry about them when they played them.  coe will finish 7-3 this year and thats not bad considering how many people they lost on the line.  replacing 4 seniors on the offensive line is hard.  it will be interesting to see who wins wartburg vs. central.  me personally i think central would be a better representitive for the IIAC.

Klopenhiemer

After todays record breaking performance by Sheridan, I believe he is the POY.  Not take anything away for Connell.  He is a good player on a good team.  Luther could not be at this point with out this kid.  He has came back from injury and everything else. He gets my vote, thought I have not vote, for POY.

Purple....The Coe jokes are funny and smack talk is great....Please win a conference game before you start Coe jokes...You forgott the best one...If you can go to college go to COE...If you cant go to college go to COE...

As we say in Storm Lake during basketball season....This one is for you Purple....Seasons Over clap clap clap clap clap...seasons over clap clap clap clap

I hope those out of state recruits help for the 08 season.  You guys need some help.

warthog

I hated to miss the warm up scrimmage the Knights had in Mt. Vernon yesterday.  The Warthogs had another wedding to attend this weekend.  What a waste of a perfectly good Saturday football day.

This coming week should be fun as IIAC fans around the country and in every corner of the globe speculate: "Will they play him or not?".  It doesn't matter.  The Knights will win regardless what decision is handed down.

COY of the year talk is premature, but shouldn't head Knight, Coach K, get some consideration based on how young the Wartburg team is?  All year there has been discussions about huge numbers of 1st year players and small numbers of seniors at Wartburg.  If you've got to play with the young guys and you still keep winning, it seems like you should get a few votes.  Then again we need to remember Coach of the Year awards don't generally find their way to Waverly.

I hope to see a bunch of the Central and Wartburg Post Pattern contributors at the game on Saturday.  In fact I would encourage others to join us.  If you want to take in a game, but don't want to drive where ever your favorite team is playing, come on over to Waverly.  Bring along a lawn chair and join in pregame activities.  Of course it is a big game, but it certainly isn't Iraq or Afganistan.  Everyone is welcome.  If you want to make it out to be a life or death college football game, go find another tailgate to join.  Under the orange and black flag at the Warthog tailgate we know it boils down to some college kids playing a game on a Saturday afternoon.  Nothing more-nothing less.  Lets just enjoy it.

Well said Warthog, well said.

Since attendance seems to be down in central bremer county the last few weekends I might see if my wife will let little doolittle and me out of the house next saturday for a short trip up to Waverly.

All I can say is that I, along with probably every other member of the Spartan Nation are throughly disappointed with the loss yesterday. Hats off to BV for coming out ready to play and not letting up all afternoon. I think we can probably ignore the COY and MVP talk after the loss on sat and just concentrate on beating luther next week and getting at least a share of 3rd place again. Would have been nice to be the clear cut 3rd place team but a tie is the best we can hope for now.

On another  note, Hawkeyes with an impression come from behind win! And what awesome NFL games today!

Interesting technique.
I'm more of the traditional bottoms up type of guy myself.
I used to roll that way, too, but like Central...I've gone against tradition (what the Hell is a forward pass?). ;D
I think we beat you by a year only in going to the shotgun. Probably the last 2 teams in the IIAC to put it in. Not sure about Cornell or Loras though.
We ran the shotgun almost half the time 25 yrs ago!!!

So ... UD solved the "will they or won't they" anxiety regarding making the play-offs in fine fashion yesterday.   Spartan football fans manage life well because they are so accustomed to dealing with disappointments.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Well said, I look forward to the game, should be a great game after having watched Wartburg yesterday Im looking forward to it all the more! Saw the Knights lay some solid hits around and the Cornell receivers were scared. I know the Dutch love to hit as well so watch out!! :)
