An old one...

Dude -- you've told nothing but old ones. Pretty lame retread materials. Does Cornell have no creativity?

changing gears.  with so much talent graduating this year: TeKippe, Suckow, Sherden, Jackson, Connell, and Schuring just to name a few.(no disrespect to anyone else graduating) Who is everyone most excited to see come back next year?
Jordan Wilkens.
Tate Harrison.
Tommy Breitbach.
Calvin Thomas.
Kyle Brockmeyer.
And that's just on defense!

Wartburg brings back 9 starters on Defense next year. Good luck to the rest of the conference.

If BV can provide an offense line next year, look for Cory Donschecki to make an impact.  In his freshman campaign he has rushed for 569 yards on 147 attempts.  That roughly 3.8 yards a game.  He has spent this season sharing the role with two upperclassman.

Okay Kohawks, can anyone shed some light on why there are so many Coe jokes regarding the lack of education that one receives at this institution.
First of all, none of the jokes are original. So the joke-tellers are a) jealous b) misinformed and c) lacking in creativity. Coe's academic reputation rivals any in the IIAC, and is superior to most. In fact, that's the last true remaining rivalry between Coe and Cornell. The "ghetto" allegations make me laugh. First of all, Coe is taking all appropriate measures to ensure the safety of students. Secondly, it is a great advantage that Coe is located in the heart of a metropolitan area, unlike any other school in the conference (and, yes, I include Dubuque and Loras in the equation).

Give Heys a break, he isn't really from Cornell he just has a son that goes there. ;)
Anyway I know what you are saying about that being the last true rivalry. Although I would say that it has been rekindled a bit in wrestling. All bs aside, wouldn't you like to see this rivalry flare up again? It could be just because Coe has won 6 or 7 in row (not sure exactly how many it has been) but I remember Cornell doing the same in the mid/late 90s. This is such a historical rivalry that I think it is just wrong for it to die...although I would say it is Cornells job now to match Coe and then raise the bar on them and make it a rivalry again.

Dubuque may not be considered a metropolitan area, but if those Coe buses parked on W. 17th St. Saturday had been a little further north (like 1/2 a block) they would have been vandalized, no doubt about it.

I guess my best observation of Coe is that the most impressive building on campus is the RAQUET center. 'Nuff said.

I'm interested in seeing Travis Dietz come back from Simpson, Tommy Breitbach and Jordan Wilkens from coe.  I saw Dietz in high school and he's a competitor.  He always give his best.  Wilkens is a great DE.  Teams are going to have to plan around him every week next year.  Breitbach there isn't much to say just let the stats speak for themselves.  His first year of playing both ways, with another year of offensive experience he will only get better also

I see Dietz has been putting up big numbers was he hurt early in the season? Cause he only played a few snaps a game he has made a huge diffrerence in the Simpson offense as of late.

koekrazy87

He wasn't hurt but he transfered from Wayne St. in Nebraska.  At the begining of the year he had to rotate with the other quarterback but in the past few weeks from looking at the stats it looks like he has the job locked down.

Heys,

What is the tie to Iowa and your sons decision to go to school in the state.  I know CA is a long ways from home and we have talked about this in weeks past.  I was just interested in why Cornell?  I always find it interesting to hear why people chose to go to the schools they did even if they choose to go to a school in there home town.

Coe/Cornell is a rivalry.  Alumni will be more interested in looking up the Coe/Cornell game in the year end results than any other game.  When one side wins a bunch of games in a row that side often likes to say it isn't a rivalry anymore.  I would imagine if you asked most Coe fans what would hurt more, losing to Loras or losing to Cornell they would say Cornell.  And not just because Cornell is on a long losing streak in the conference.

Loras fans used to say the UD game wasn't a rivalry game anymore but during the week of the football game, and in the week leading up to basketball games that's all anyone in Dubuque could talk about.

Rivalries stay rivalries.  It doesn't matter if one side is currently dominating.

Just looked on Simpson web site says the other QB is the starter this week , hope its wrong Dietz had a big day last week

I agree with doolittle.  Iowa beat Iowa St. what 16 years in a row, and have won like 6 of 8 since then.  Rivalries will go back and forth and sometimes teams will have long streaks of victories, look at Navy and Notre Dame.

I think everyone rags on Coe because of it's location, which as hard as Coe officials try, it is not that safe, or least the students don't feel safe.  I know b/c my girlfriend goes to Coe (PH and Ash don't hang me for treason  ;) ) and she tells me all the time about drug busts and police breaking up fights at the houses right across from campus.  That can't make people feel safe.

MNbeev

I know Coe gets a lot of crap for being where it is located being the "ghetto" but it happens all over the place just no one hears about it around the conference.  I guess this is me backing up Coe???  At BV a couple of years ago there was 2 shootings, a stabbing and a murder, I believe 2/4 of those happened within 4-5 blocks of campus.  Not to mention all but one of those were drug related.  I know this is me talking about my own college but truthfully, it is not only Coe where this kind of stuff goes down.  BV is a great town, and in a good location but no town is perfect...well besides Waverly right?
