I know how big a factor momentum is in college football, but I still don't think you can blame all 3 punt blocks on the one guy.  By that logic, if a guy gives up a sack in the first quarter, he is then responsible for every sack given up the rest of the game, just because he 'set the tone'?

I'm not blaming all three punts all on the "one guy."  he was taken off the punt team right after the block ::) 89% of teams that block a punt in a game go on to win the game.  The same can't be said about a sack, so that is not even comparable.

Sportsknight,

The Cornell game has not been on yet.  The game is still the UD game.  Can you get that fixed so we can download it before the Wartburg game gets up?  Thanks.

Well thank you very much for bringing the UD/Central game back into my brain :'(

Hey Waltson, thanks for the babysitting idea.  My wife is ok with me taking our son to the game.  It's just since she runs a daycare during the week she likes to have me around to watch our girls on the weekend, so she gets a bit of a break.  Usually after their dance class she brings them back and she goes shopping to clear her head.  I'm trying the ol' "I only went to 1 game this year" schtick on her because normally I would have gone to probably 2 or 3 Hawkeye games.  It might end up working but I am not holding my breath!!!

Tell her this is your last chance this year.
Its true. ::)
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

More Coe-Cornell trivia (just for a break from all the Central-Wartburg talk): From an 82-0 Cornell victory in the series' opening game in 1891 to a 31-14 Coe victory last fall, the combined scores for both teams are Coe 2,020 and Cornell 1,929. The 1891 game stands as Cornell's highest scoring and largest margin of victory. Coe's largest margin of victory came in 1897, 54-0. In 2003, Coe scored its most points ever against Cornell in a 66-63 victory. The 129 points was a D3 record until Earlham and Manchester combined for 131 points in 2005. I believe Cornell still holds the record for most points scored in a loss.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

The thing that makes me happy is that a little over 2 years ago, before the 05 season, a lot of people on this board in particular, had written Central off for dead. Now 28 wins and 3 losses later (2 in the playoffs), they dynasty is back on course and everyones hopes of the Dutch falling into mediocrity were crushed. :)
30 IIAC Championships
20 Division III Playoff Appearances

KCDutch: I live about a mile east  from the OP on 135th-I don't go much either as I have a new baby, get ESPN Gameplan and have big 10 network.  unless I'm golfing, there's many weekends where I don't even leave my house, it's great.

We were looking to buy a house @ Falcon Ridge (golf course) so that's probably not too far from you if you're @ K-10/K-7.

I just read in the KC Star yesterday that  MO-KU football is the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi?
I thought Coe-Cornell was?  Charlie or Pat, can I get a witness?
it's pretty sick when those 2 programs are both in top 8 of the BCS.

Guilty as charged.

According to the NCAA record book, the Coe-Cornell series and the Missouri-Kansas series both began in 1891. However, Coe and Cornell have played 116 times, while Mizzou and Kansas have met but 115 times. Advantage Coe-Cornell.

I believe MO-KU maybe the oldest as far major programs(D-1) go. I could be wrong about this but I thought I remember having this discussion with someone a couple years ago.

Also, a small request for Saturday. If someone could give pretty detailed updates throughout the game, I would really appreciate it. The only way I can follow is on here. I could try a TACSAT radio, but something tells me it just won't go 7,000 miles.

I am told the KWAR broadcast will be up and running for sure this weekend...it best be since this will be the only way for me to hear it.  (www.kwar.org).  Airbourne Dutch-If you don't listen to the game over the internet, I will do my best to keep things current on here (and I will do my best not to be too Orange & Black).

Not anymore, Weber State beat Portland State 73-68 this year.

That isn't D3 though. I'm pretty sure that it is still the record in D3.

That could be, it was a record for all NCAA divisions until this year I believe

I realize it has no play-off implications, but, just out of curiousity, what are the predictions for the Luther/DBQ game this weekend? DBQ has had a solid season and really looks impressive. However, the Norse have been on a roll lately. I've gotta pull for my boys and say Luther 31, DBQ 28.

Curious-Does Central still run a bunch of cover 0?
