I don't think you'll find many people that disagree with you. There was something about having people 4 deep around the field(8 to 10 on the day you speak of), less than 3 yards from it.
There will be a ton of people at the game this weekend, but there would be more if both Iowa/ISU, and UNI I guess weren't at home.

PS- It was adding the track that ruined it. Moving people from right on the field to 15 yards away has the effect.

So we've run out of football to talk about so now we can talk about Wartburg being financially irresponsible? If Wartburg reaches its goal of 2000 students each paying about $25,000 a year would bring in $50,000,000. That should crack the nut they have on the place.

BTW, I think Hoerner was a QB in high school too.

That's the challenge for Wartburg, to get 550+ first year student every year and keep 80-85% retention for a total of 1800-1850 on campus. If that continues WC will be OK. If not a lot additional $upport from alums will be needed.  IF the community portion of the W works out well, I think community $upport for the college will increase and help a lot.

Speaking of seniors on rosters, WH stated that WB had 9 seniors, I counted about 20 for Central, granted all dont start, and some probably dont even see the field on Saturdays, except for the occasional blow out, but doesnt that say something for the football program. To keep guys out from a class of 50 at Central (90 reported at WB on here regularly) and still have 20 some for the last three years. Guys staying together to support their friends on the field unselfishly and busting their ass for 3 or 4 years. Thats what Central Football is, and thats why Im proud to be an alumni of such a great program. You can have your "evil empire", well take our 40+ year dynasty and run with it! Go Dutch!

I agree -- Wartburg is being very agressive as an institution, and it will soon pay off. I would imagine (without looking the numbers) that enrollment is up, and people are excited about what is happening. They've branded themselves as the premier athletics school around Iowa.....things are going well in Waverly. Honestly, I wish Central would do more to aggresively market itself.

Wartburg's stadium is one of the best in the midwest, facilities-wise. I loved the days of the students being on the field, etc -- the atmosphere was unbelieveable. If anyone on here as any pull with the facilities people, please put in one request -- PUT IN MORE VISITORS BLEACHERS ALREADY!! True, it may not matter for any other game but the Central game, but for the Dutch (who travel well) not having anywhere to sit is annoying. :) WH, Warthog, anyone....??

The visitor seating is pretty pathetic. I belive it was packed in 05 as well as most of the way around the stadium. The home side wasnt near full though ;)

As with every high school we are visitors at-No one cares what the visitors think of their seating. That's just the way it is.

It is agreed that visitor seating @ W. Hoover is greatly lacking. Could have more been added  from goal-line to goal line - YES.  But more rows /height were/are not possible because of the firelane for dorms directly behind visitors. Remember when WH was built the stadium footprint was changed to allow 400 meter track NOT the 440 yard that was there. At homecoming this fall they allowed standing around the north end on track and it was 3-4 deep. I have not heard if temp. bleachers will be added to south end zone like they have done from time to time. Right now with the construction on Sports center there is now good way go get bleachers there.

Dynasty? While Central has been most successful football team for most of my lifetime, things have balanced out the past 15 years. Right now the conference dynasty is Wartburg Wrestling. 15 straight conf. titles and ZERO conference matches lost since Jim Miller has arrived.

Good luck to Jimmy Conlin and WC "futball" teams in NCAA's this weekend.

From what I've seen,Wartburgs visitor bleachers are second only to Central's. (There, I said something nice about the Dutch.)

As far as seniors staying in the program, it's commendable to have that many stay. but how many were kept there with promises of playing tme when they became seniors? Part of Central's recruiting pitch is that you may have to wait your turn to play, but you should by the time you are a senior. I personnaly heard that from the staff. So how many of those seniors have put in four years only to have to wait for a blowout to get the playing time that was alluded to when they were recruited? If I wasn't good enought to play, I would appreciate being told that early in my career so I could make my decision about staying, quitting, or transferring.

Mea Culpa...............I'm sorry, I don't think Wartburg hung the moon and the stars.  I just gave my opinion, kind of like you gave an opinion about the atmospher at Central.  I'm ready to move on and talk football.  I think Central will win and you probably think Wartburg will win.........I guess football has now been covered.

I vote for DutchHawk to give the pre-game pep talk in the Central locker room Saturday!

LOL I understand KC. I just think we're starting to reach a bit. Next thing will be how pretty the co-eds are. (A push in my opinion. I've seen lookers in both places.)
