The Show

Sounds like some possible questionable calls in Waverly. Had to have been better than the mickey mouse crew they had in Indianola this afternoon.  I had thought all other games I've seen this season had been very well officiated, so not sure where these guys came from.  Simpson grads?  ;D  Didn't help that BV's offense was non-existent.

Perhaps all the top crews were being used in Iowa City, Ames, and at the UNI Dome between the H.S. Playoffs and UNI's game? ???

Coe did not come to play today and Cornell did. Kudos to them for that. Fortunately, superior talent overcame sheer will. I have to give the Rams some credit. That first half was the worst I've ever seen Coe play. Cornell might have had something to do with that. Day was a one-man wrecking crew and Macey looks like a solid football player. But in the end, the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi goes to the Kohawks for the eighth straight year. Another stellar performance by Tommy Breitbach. If he's not all-conference, at least, it's a crime.

I wasn't there so I can't directly say...but folks I spoke to felt Coe wasn't all that superior...Young Mr. Bush is a freshman working against an experienced and talented secondary.  He was effective at times and other times he showed his inexperience.  I'll take his upside over the next couple of years.  It looks like he found out how the TE can be a QB's best friend.

As to TeKippe, he displayed the experience you expect from a senior...struggled for most of the game then took advantage of the opportunity afforded when Cornell could not finish drives earlier in the game.

Cornell had their chances...75 yard KO return called back, 58 yard gain wiped out by penalty, INT in the Coe end zone...you can't make those mistakes in the IIAC and expect to win...Unless you're Central   ;D

Nevertheless the Rams had a chance to win this one and two others this year.

Prediction:  Cornell ends the IIAC drought next year and Coe's streak won't go to double digits.

Wasn't that your prediction for this year?
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

New hope for Wartburg....You're pulling for the Poets and didn't even know it.

Whittier up 47-28 on Oxy.

Should well keep a 2nd SCIAC team out and open the door for the Kaniggets.

Of course Bethel's win doesn't help.

On a lighter note...check the maternity records in Pella 9 or so months from now for the increase in babies named Timothy, Vance, Jake and Jeffery.

Looks like the UofR only from the SCIAC...Hope they don't try to slip in a 2nd NWC team and give Wartburg the shot.

Whitworth is on the bubble of Pool C...would they beat out SJU for a spot?...who are the other Pool C? Case, Salisbury and Wesley are Pool B.

Lance Harbor

First off -- Congrats to the Dutch on another fine season

Second -- Wartburg may not be out of this thing just yet.  I posted on my website a breakdown of Pool C:

http://bigredlance.blogspot.com/2007/11/2007-d3-football-pool-c-playoff.html

I'm curious to see how it all shakes out...I think a few of the teams I mentioned are out of Pool C contention.

QuoteUW-Whitewater Bracket
1. UW-Whitewater (A)
2. St. John's (A)
3. Central (A)
4. St. Norbert (A)
5. Redlands (C)
6. Bethel (C)
7. Whitworth (C)
8. Cal Lutheran (A)
Alright, NCAA penny-pinching could rear its ugly head here. But even the NCAA couldn't possibly make Redlands and Cal Lutheran play again, one week later, right? Right?? Let's hope so, anyway. So we're sending Whitworth to Redlands and Cal Lutheran to UW-Whitewater in the Danny Jones Reunion Bowl. Bethel can't play St. John's again, unfortunately for St. Norbert, because Norbert gets the call. Bethel would be at Central.

We end up with three teams with two regional losses in Pool C in this projection: Capital, Hobart and Bethel. Occidental, with one regional loss and the weakest opponents' winning percentage among one-loss teams (currently .391), gets passed in the regional rankings when Redlands beats Cal Lutheran and gets left home. Waynesburg's .424 is the second-lowest.

The PH Playoff Projectometer reads as follows:

Oxy is out, Cal Lutheran is out, Bethel is still in.  Central, St. Norby bump up a notch to 2 and 3; Bethel leapfrogs UofR to #4; Johnnies follow UofR although SJU beats them anytime anywhere and twice on Sunday.  The last spot...if..IF NCAA penny pinching comes into play...MAYBE Wartburg slips in and buses to UW-W

Whitworth travels to UofR, Central gets another shot at the Johnnies, leaving Bethel at St. Norbert

1. UW-Whitewater (A)
2. Central (A)
3. St. Norbert (A)
4. Bethel (A)
5. Redlands (A)
6. St. John's (C)
7. Whitworth (C)
8. ?????? Kaniggets????

Absolutely no ranking science was used to determine this...kind of like how the NCAA limits the use when $$ are the determining factor

Johnnies have got to be in...Whitworth either slides out or stays in because its cheaper to fly them to Redlands, than to fly Redlands to the Midwest.
