As far as the better team reference is going, would Central like to play Wartburg again? Best of three? Three of five? I'll  agree Central was the better team Saturday, but could they consistenly recreate that effort?

I guess the Dutch supporters are suffering from a lack of oxygen, being all high and mighty as they are. If they continue their "dynasty" of playoff performances, they will all enjoy a nice Thanksgiving turkey at home instead of practicing for a second round game.

Hell yea, wed play them again and beat them again. Did you not see us turn the ball over on the 4 to give you a touchdown and then you couldnt drive to score on us but once all day? We have one best of the last three and three of the last five so that argument doesnt hold up either. Wartburg blew their own season up by losing to Augsburg, if they had won that game...at home, they would be getting their shot at Bethel next week, but Wartburg has seemed to make a habit of losing a game they shouldnt.

FootballMommy-

I gave all the Wartburgers a free pass the day of the game and even the next, but let it go!  I would love to play Warburg again in Pella OR Waverly, I'll take a senior QB, who should be MVP of the conference, over the rocket screen and Wartburg's team.  Wartburg is a good team, but great teams don't lose 2 times at home to inferior teams.

I don't know why you hate Central, I'm sorry our President used words you didn't understand on your visit (he is a Dr. and a place of HIGHER education) or you didn't get a good vibe on campus or Central's coaches didn't get down and kiss your son's feet on his visit.  Did you celebrate the win at the Goat???  I was at Joe's and I've nevered heard sooo much whining, except from Missouri fans!

GO DUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow....how did we get to be so bitter? We won.

Come on, gloating is not what Central football is all about.

Why didn't you just take care of business and beat Augsburg, that is the real question.  In fact the whole conference should be pissed off at Wartburg for not representing the IIAC in non-conference play.

Beat Augsburg and you take UW-Eau Claire's spot.

So, why didn't you beat Augsburg and get two IIAC teams in the playoffs?

You let us all down WART!

Can't agree with you more, we should have never lost to Augsburg. Hope everyone from the top to the bottom of the football program learned something from that game. But its still hard to not make the playoff with this team

Ash Park

Congrats to Central on a fine fine season! I have all the faith in the world that this team will represent the IIAC very well. I don't think Central is the most talented as far as athletes go but they have that IT factor. Whatever IT is they have it. They just flat out can play football and now how to win football games. As long as they have Connell they very well could go to the NC game. Connell is a true leader and is very deserving of MVP honors. Good Luck to the Dutch!! I might have to make another trip to Pella this weekend to cheer you guys on.

Thanks to Central's own Harry Smith on CBS for the nice words about the Dutch.  Central truly is a family that stays together.  Thanks Harry for the nice words about the team.

Finally a Dutch fan with some class.  I wish Central all the luck in the playoffs

The dutch have the classiest fans on this site, Wartburg just has the most.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

DF'04 -- do you happen to have a link?

By the way, I saw you at the game on Saturday, but I didn't have a chance to stop over and say hello...

DF1  sorry I don't.  It was on the morning show.  MRS DF2004 was home for veterans day and was watching it when he came on.  It was pretty nice.  I wish you had been able to stop and say hi.  Are you coming to the game saturday?

Golden Norver +k for that that was pretty good.

Wow, I thought this forum was for Division III COLLEGE Athletics, not your sons and daughters pee-wee sports. I've never seen so much whining about something that is IN THE PAST.

Wartburg, you can be as sour as you want about "the calls" on saturday, but the fact is that in the end Central was the better team. First off, you gave them the ball at mid-field! Why? Did you not think that the offense, which came out strong in the second half, wasn't going to be able to move the ball on you? You gave them a short field in a tied game that had less than 3 minutes left to go. As far as the pass interference, it could have gone either way. It happened right in front of me and from what I saw, it was the right call. I mean, the last I checked, a DB wasn't allowed to have a hold of the WR hand. And the pass was still catchable no matter what KWAR has to say about it. As for the "phantom spike" the whistle blew. The play was dead. The clock was stopped. That's how football is played.

Now I'd like to give Wartburg all the credit they deserve. GREAT TEAM. But, they also held their fate in their own hands. You can't blame your not being in the playoffs on the refs or the "luck of the Dutch." You can blame it on yourselves. You are the ones that play the game. You are the ones that strategize. You are the ones that control your fate.

I wouldn't be surprised as well to see Wartburg as pre-season favorites next year. They were a very tough team that had just a handfull of seniors. However, don't be surprised to see the Dutch gearing up for a run at a fourth straight consecutive title. After all, I did hear that the Central-Wartburg JV game was somewhat of a blowout??

Good luck to Central in the playoffs. Represent the IIAC well. Bring back some major hardware!

GO DUTCH!!

Rhino_05

I'm with dutchfan1 on this.  Let's put to bed the Wartburg-bashing.  They were a very good team that had one major slip-up really haunt them.  Let's move on and focus on the task at hand.  Does anyone have any info on Olivet?  Did I hear right that they won the tie-breaker over Hope to get in?

swtpntsbnr

All I can tell you is they were down 25-13 to Hope College with less than 3 minutes to play in the game. They came back to win 28-25. I also know that most of their scoring is done in the 2nd quarter, and they give up most points in the 3rd. Which is bad news for them since Central has been a second half team all year.

dutchfan1

Olivet is 6-4 on the season, with losses to IL Wesleyan, Wittenberg, Elmhurst (all non-conference) and Alma. They tied for a conference championship in the MIAA with a 6-1 (conference) record, sharing the title with Hope, whom Central defeated earlier this season....

#1 Leave my kid out of this.

#2 If you read all of my posts Central was our other choise,so how do I HATE Central if I was willing to let my son commit there if it was where he wanted to go?

#3 We lost two games this year we should have won-how are we supposed to act?

#4 Sorry to not sound like an IIAC backer, but if Central had performed better in their playoff trips we would be in this year.I hope they go all the way so they can get in next year after they finish #2 in the conference.

I've had the title of #1 Central basher hung on me here It's not what I've set out to do. I just say how I feel. From what others have posted here I'm not alone. But if I have to endure cracks about me, my typing, and my kid to express how I feel, then ok, but be prepared to take it back in kind.
