I said a few days back that Connell would shred them(4TD's would qualify under that statement)

how bad was their d-line and i'm guessing he didn't have nearly as much pressure today as he did against WB?  For having 3 all-conference db's, giving up 4 passing TD's isn't too impressive.

It would be nice to see WB in the playoffs so they could chalk up another IIAC playoff victory against a team like this.

Hate to say it but I think the Johnnies will do it again.  StJ  28 Central 14

oldNorse, I have to disagree. Yes, I have red colored blinders on, but I see Central winning in their more "traditional" fashion. Close game up until the fourth quarter and then Central just hooks and jabs and gets in a knockout punch late in the fourth. There is just something about this team. These seniors aren't ready to be done yet. CUI-17 SJU-13

Time for Central to "Dutch Up"

Johnnies are in familiar territory...they know they can win at Central.  Central has no need to recall last year...different teams, different personalities.

Central ain't playing the history, ain't playing the legendary coach, or the Stiftenlinenkugel.

They are playing another good football team.  A team that capitalizes on mistakes.

The good news:  That's Central strength...not making the mistakes.  Against the Bulldogs, SJU turned the ball over a whole lot more than I'd be comfortable with if I were Gags.

Central...so far...has not provided such favors.  SJU can't afford to be so careless with the ball.

Would love to be able to see this though.  Two top-notch D3 teams with great traditions, well-coached and well supported.

On the other hand, it will be about 78o in San Diego and there's this thing we like to call a Beach.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Its hardly locker room material, but MIAC fans are already predicting a Bethel-SJU matchup on Dec.1 They aren't wasting anytime.

I notice how you say "MIAC fans".  You must say such because, as has already been pointed out on the MIAC PP, the people doing such predicting aren't Johnnies.  It's BU backers.  You won't have to shade the truth at all to get plenty of smack talk.  We'll bring it straight to you and you'll pretty much know.

We Johnnies are looking forward to beating Central like red-headed step children and will be able to spend all week thinking about this coming contest.  You won't find any Johnnies looking past this coming Saturday.  We would miss the fun.

Can't win the MIAC, but we've proven we can knock off Central :o

Not knowing the MIAC boards as well as I know the IIAC board, I don't really know who supports who unless its blatantly obvious. I didn't notice the signature of the Dec.1 prediction until about 15 minutes ago, so I apologize if you feel  profiled at the mention of MIAC fans  ;D. As I said before and I'll be saying it all week, its gonna be a close game. Yes, you have proven you can knock off Central. Not gonna argue that. However, the games have been close. Saying you are gonna beat us like a red headed stepchild implies that you are gonna hang 45 points on us and hold us to <200 yards offense. Maybe it should be more like "the in and out of juvy foster home child". That at least would give the impression that we'll get our shots in and you'll leave with a few bumps and bruises too. Although, with Central's supposedly squeeky clean image, I don't know if thats the right impression to use....

Just got back from post game festivities in Pella.  Olivet was a challenge for the first QTR and 1/2.  they have good speed and came out hitting.  We swapped turnovers for that time , but then in the second, the Dutch recievers started catching the ball and Connell got in a groove so it swung the Dutch way pretty easily.  Schuring looked good again, 90+ yards.  Baethke and the D were obviously on top of  their game in the second half.

I will say Olivett showed some speed and has enough quality young guys to appear to be a team of the future.  For most of the second half though the defense shut down the Comet offense.  And their fans were the loudest visitors we've seen in Pella!

The MIAC officials on hand weren't any help, 2 Offensive Pass Interference flags  and some obvious missed calls, but the Dutch rose above it.

Congrats to all in Pella.  Go Dutch,  the Johnnies better be ready for a battle.

old school ENP Tiger

After watching the game today its too bad that Wartburg was at home this weekend.  Nothing against Olivet.  They won their conference and thats all you have to do to make the playoffs but there are way better teams out there that are home.  I did think the crowd they brought was excellent.  Very loud for the numbers the brought, tailgated and had a good time.

Being a child of the 80s I couldn't help thinking of a big movie at least for me.  Johnny gets the best of the Karate Kid in the beginning but then good old Daniel learns how to really fight and kicks the snot out of Johnny in the end.  Much like next weekend.  You see Central went back, learned how to throw giving them a different attack and they are gonna kick the snot out of Johnny.  I guess the only differnce in this would be that Johnny was the defending champion and well another year another trip up by the Royals.

Good luck stopping 2 IIAC MVP's and all 15 different recieving threats.  Bring a big crowd.  Have a good time.  Bring your A game because these red heads are ready.

The Show

If I need to, I can go over and remind our Bethel buddies who tripped them up to hand them their only loss. ;)

For those at the Central game, how the O-line play?  Did Connell have time to throw and did the RBs have any holes to run through?
