So IIAC boys.  Lets talk about the guys who have a chance to make the all region/all american teams.

What are we thinking?  Walston...This might bring you out of the woodwork.

You guys keep chatting up your all-star teams while Team SJU prepares to thrash your Dutch.

What's with all this second-rate, "high school" humor that passes for trash talking?  And from both sides no less!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Pretty funny that Freebird would come to the IIAC board to yap.  He doesn't have the Cajones to do it on the MIAC board.  That Karma would plummet faster than mine has.

Somebody must feel empowered now that his squad "Finally" got that ever elusive 1st playoff win in school history.  Now you start to play the big boys.  Should be very interesting...

Man, I hate Johnnie week. You guys will go on and on (and on and on) about anything BUT football. (Paris Hilton, anyone?) I've been following your season this year, and I don't think you are the Johhnies-of-old. Call me crazy, but I don't think you'll pull this one off. You won't see a lot of smack this week from Central fans. We know our record with the Johnnies very well. We also know that Saturday is a new day.

One pic has a nice shot of Connell's tat... SJU's defense will have to be intimidated after seeing that!  ;)

Ok I've had enough!

All you johnnies please just shut up! Leave the Dutch alone. They'll take care of business on Saturday and leave you the next six months of winter to ice fish and drink bear urine disguised in Hamm's cans.
The only people on this boad who are entitled to to crack on Central are Wartburg fans. We can do fine by ourselves without your cold-addled thinking. We are family here, and even though we fight amongst ourselves, we will unify to defeat any outside pains-in-the rears.

OK, I come to Central's defense and I lose karma?

Our friends from the North are pretty karma-happy -- they talk about it obsessively on their board -- I wouldn't let it worry you.

How do you think your defense will hold up to the multiple sets, and the inconsistent, but, on occassion, quite potent Johnnie pass attack? Conversely, will the highly touted diverse offense of Central be able to handle the smallish, but very quick St John's defense?

Gee! Wasn't that fun?

Unfortunately, I think they let the fargo speaking northlanders award and take Karma, you know.

Actually, that is the talk we more often have on this board.  Most of us would rather talk football than what we have been exposed to from the Minnesota posters on here the last few days.

DutchFan - I agree that if you look at most of the season, there is not the same spark that we have seen in past years.  HOWEVER, what the Johnnies did last week after the Bethel loss can only make one wonder if the Bethel game was a wake-up call.  In 2000, the Johnnies lost the conference and final game to Bethel.  They then proceeded to play Mt Union to within one score in the Stagg Bowl.

Only time will tell.  This will be an interesting game.

They must have hit the snooze butten a couple times, because they were in trouble until much good fortune came their way late in the first half.

TC

Central quarterback Tim Connell (Nearly perfect name, by the way. Also, sweet tats.) set a Dutch school record with 2373 passing yards in the regular season (he's up to 2639 yards including the playoff game).  Central has been playing football since 1903--why did it take them 104 years to discover the benefits of the forward pass?  Now that teams don't know they are running 9 plays out of 10 do they have a chance to beat the Johnnies?

Even though he's had a very inconsistent season by the St. John's fans' standards, SJU quarterback Alex Kofoed still has more passing yards than Connell (2668 through the first round playoff game).  Also, Mike Patnode has 255 more yards rushing than Vance Schuring in the same amount of games--and Patnode averages almost a full yard more per carry.  The Johnnies have thrown up some clunkers on grass fields this year but are virtually unstoppable on turf (47 points per game on synthetic, 15 points per game on natural).  Did the Dutch cut their own throats by installing Fieldturf?  Does Central have the horses to keep pace with the Johnnie juggernaut?

Does Nick Gunderson (assuming he leaves early, of course) go on the first day of the draft or does he slip into the later rounds?  At the next level, do you think he'd be a better fit as a pass rushing end in a 4-3 scheme or as a hybrid 'backer/end in a 3-4?

There, I talked football.
GO JOHNNIES!!!

Nice post.  'bolt -- except that wasn't Central actually trailing Olive Oil (6-5) in the second quarter  of their game .....

That might be how the Dutch roll. Saturday it will be how they get rolled.

Man...I can't wait for this game.  The whole season of Central "finding a way to win" has had me extremely nervous...but damn it...it's time for the Dutch to rid themselves of the monkey(stomp) off of their backs that is St. John's.

To be honest...the Dubuque game and most of all...that Wartburg game have given me the most confidence I've felt all season about this year's Dutch squad.  I really hope that the good guys can get it done this time around.  Could be the toughest team we've faced this far (filtering out the smack talk, of course...we'll always lose that battle ;)).
