I'm looking forward to the chance that the IIAC will have full ownership of the MIAC 2 weeks from now.  The MIAC champ isn't any better than a 3rd tier IIAC team.  The only 2 words I really have to say... Buena Vista.

So by that argument Wartburg isn't any better than a 6th placed MIAC team(Augsburg).  And Central just squeaked by them, didn't they?

Wartburg, meet Augsburg.  We'll call that one a push, no?

Since 2000, the MIAC is 21-11 in the playoffs and has gotten a team to the second round every year.  The IIAC is 6-10 and has gotten a team to the second round 4 of 8 years.  Even if you want to take SJU out of the equation, the MIAC is 5-6, which compares quite favorably to the IIAC. 3-6, which is roughly equivilent to the IIAC.

The IIAC hasn't gotten a team out of the second round since 2000.  St. John's has won multiple games in 5 of 7 years since then.  If they are being held back by their "weak" conference schedule, the playoff results sure don't show it.

The MIAC currently has 3 teams in the D3Football.com Top 25, St. John's at 8, Bethel at 9, and St. Olaf at 23.  The IIAC only has two, Central at 3 and Wartburg at 15.  Let's generously call this a push.

I can't see anything that suggests that the IIAC conference schedule is more difficult than the MIAC schedule, or that IIAC teams outperform MIAC teams on a national stage--even if unless you take St. John's out of the equation.

Every conference has teams that the league's best should handle easily.  If you want to argue that St. John's has an especially easy route to the conference championship I think you will have trouble supporting your claims.

This is entirely true.  Wartburg sucks. ;)

Very true, but there's also no denying that Central gave you their best in those losses.  The better team won on those days.

It's also time for all of that to change. :D

Where can an upstate NY guy living in TN get some of this Hamms? it sounds delicious...

p.s. thanks to RPI's quick exit (we were looking ahead to Mount Union  ::) ), it's Johnnie time.

Touchdown Tommy

Enginegro:  TDT can prolly get you a terdy pk of Hamm's for the low price of 7.99.  Probably need a terdy pk each for the next Playa Hata reunion.  This stuff is the nectar of life.

Ut oh Central fans the RPI brethren are jumping aboard the Johnnie bandwagon.  This is trouble for the Iowegians...

All mass market domestic beer is the same stuff.  Go to the nearest liquor store with a walk in cooler, buy a six pack of the cheapest stuff they have, ask if you can sit in their cooler to drink it, close your eyes and think about snowmobiles and you pretty much have the experience.

You MIAC guys are a little touchy. I wasn't trying to start an arguement or rehash an old one. (Aside from a thinly vieled shot at the bottom of your conference) I just said that St Johns would be in the playoff picture for the forseeable future. Didn't expect a lot of debate over that. But thanks for taking the time to research semi-valuable non-coference history.

See, we spend the entire regular season arguing with Bethel and St. Olaf supporters, so we get used to digging up actual statistics to refute their from-the-arse assertions. That tends to carry over.
Nice day, huh?

Stats will have Central beat this season (as has already been discussed).  All Central has is the 'Ws' thus far.  We tend to believe it comes from the heart, though (which has been in our throats as fans until the clock ticks 0:00).

That's the one. What's the other one? "The only stat that matters is Ws." Even "old quotes" about stats contradict themselves. Gotta dig it.
