...Jerry Haugen and Gary Fasching are two of the best defensive minds in the game and they were taught by the best mind in CFB.

Maybe you should rephrase that to say "the best mind currently in the MIAC in D3 college football".  Seriously... you need to lay off the freakin smack up there... it'll kill your brain.

We'll all see how "prolific" the SJU offense is this weekend.  I doubt their RB gets past the D-line... and if he does, he'll have some of the quickest (and don't mistake the word quick with small here) linebackers in the IIAC to deal with.  Central only got burnt on a great play call on a blitz to give up the 2nd seven points to WB.  Now I bleed orange and black and I know defenses lapse... but that Central D is the real deal.  We'll see how our Norwegian compadres are singing a different tune on Saturday night.

Also, what do you consider "coming from behind"?  If the opposing team has the ball first and scores, is that a game where Central "came from behind"?  That is just ludicrous.  Say that coming from behind means at LEAST going into the 4th quarter without the lead.  That would be zero times going into the 4th quarter trailing a game, 3 times going into the 4th quarter tied.  I don't exactly think football teams are in crisis mode until possibly going into the 4th down.

Seriously... while the number of posts has dramatically increased over the last half week on the board, the average IQ of the posters has dropped significantly.  Stay on the MIAC board after Central wins this weekend.

Just got in from slopping the hogs. I'm really hoping the Dutch shut up the Minnesotans this weekend.

Can anyone tell me where the Central representative is for the Gagliardi Trophy?  I keep looking and can't find it...

Dsquared is actually a Wartburg guy...but hey, we'll take any and all bandwagon jumpers this time of year. :)

St. Ben's is 5 miles away and we have classes on both campuses interchangeably. DuffMan is engaged to a Bennie. I'm dating one. Lots of the "older" posters here have married them. Believe it or not, it is possible to find a suitable XX companion at St. John's. TDT's lack of success is not the norm.

Those questions were fun to answer :)

Ya but looking at TDT and then listening to him leaves no doubt at why he has no success does it?   ;D ;D ;D ;D

TDT, let's put it this way.....I won't be anywhere near you on Saturday.

Wow, I bet I'm not the only girl you've ever heard that from...  :-*

TDT, that's twice today your romantic prowess has been slammed on this board.  Stand up for yourself, man. ;D

"Romantic prowess" -- is that what he calls it?  ;)

Oh, and Duff, you are confusing me with DF2004. Hope to see you guys again on Saturday. I've gotta stop over to say 'hey' to JJR, afterall.

I wasn't there but I'm told DB was very speedy.  Maybe not St John's speedy but very speedy.

Best wishes to the Dutch as they march through the MIAC the next couple weekends.  The Wartmobile heads out towards the Minnesota/South Dakota line in a couple hours.  Thank goodness I'll be leaving civilization and won't have internet access for a few days.  I can't take much more of this sophmoric Minnesota drivel.  Unfortunately I'll still be getting Minnesota insights but instead of St. J football the conversation will center around the sugar beet harvest and how good the herring tastes.

I think that would be a good hire for Simpson. Does he have any collegiate coaching experience at any point in his career? I'm not real familiar with him other than Valley.

Back to more immediate developments, I don't think either team walks away with a big win. I think it's going to be close and I like Central's chances in a close game. What NCAA team has won more close games in the last 2 years? I doubt anyone has even been involved in that many. That's a team that is going to be mentally tough enough to win a big game down the stretch.

How about the physical part of the game? Not much has been said about the big uglies up front? Will Central have success running the football? Schuring I think is close to 100% and may finally be playing up to his ability. He deserves a big day after an injury-plagued year. Of course I know the records and the success of St. Johns, but how can a team that doesn't even tackle in practice play physical in games? Doesn't make sense to me. And how do you learn to play to the whistle if there are no whistles in practice? And how do you find a date at an all male college? (just kidding, I get there is an all girls school right there, right?)

How does a coach win a record number of games?  Do yourself a favor and pick up one of the books about the greatest coach in college football history...do you know they are practicing less than an hour per day right now?...and all they do is run plays, no drills?

The J's contained Schuring and the Dutch O last year for the most part...and I think they will be able to hold them down again...Jerry Haugen and Gary Fasching are two of the best defensive minds in the game and they were taught by the best mind in CFB.

I've read the book and as I said in my post, I know the records/success... I was asking how it translate to wins on the field? Some of your fellow Minnesotans actually answered my question. Call me old fashioned but it just doesn't seem like football to me, but I guess if it works for you guys...Do you think it would work for any other coaching staff or is it an attribute to Coach Gagliardi?

Go Dutch!

by the way, where is Airborne Dutch? Is he on a mission or something?
