I'm still here. Just trying to transition back from an assignment where I was working at night here (days back in IA). Now, I'm working days here (nights in IA) and getting prepped to take over a job that is about 4 levels above my paygrade. Anyway, I welcome all the posters from the MIAC board. Certainly makes Saturday a little bit more interesting. Contrary to what a lot of people are thinking, its not gonna be a blowout. I know both sides would like it for their team, but it just ain't gonna happen. Too much talent on either side of the ball to allow that too happen.

Wish I could be in town to enjoy the St.John's pregame traditions (I'm not gonna even attempt to spell your the S-Fest thing). Sounds like its gonna be a good time. Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on here. Here's to a good thanksgiving, great game, and rocket attack free weekend.

Airbourne,

Maybe with the work that is that far above your paygrade means that you are officer material.  I can see it now GENERAL AIRBOURNE DUTCH has a certain ring to it does it not.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey Day to all the IIAC posters. Good luck to the Dutch Sat (did I just say that?) 50/50 on my attendance Sat in Pella.

Thanks for being out there Airborne. Wherever that is. I have a son in Okinawa now. Happy Thansgiving to you and all on the board.

I have my turkey stuffed like a St. John's running back trying to get through the Central defense.  So now I have time to catch up on Post Patterns.

Reading all of the Johnnies' fans' trash talk on here reminds me of my Aunt Fannie's prune stuffing.  Neither is as good as its creator thinks it is.  I seem to have to put up with both every year.  And, they both give me the runs.

When doesn't Central brag about themselves?  This, coming from a WB fan?   :D

Yea,  don't we all brag, that what great about this. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone

Thanks for the link on the Den Herder article, Beaver of Yore!  I had read it before and it was a good read again.  Vern always had a sense of humility about him, still does.  He is a great example of the kind of role models that can come out of division III where academics are the first priority.

I saw some parallels between his story and this year's Dutch team, the main one being the statement that he wasn't flashy, he just got the job done.  Sounds like a team that doesn't necessarily win big, but no matter the situation, they just get the job done.  Here's hoping they continue to follow Vern's example.

The Show

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Safe travels for the holiday and this weekend's game.

A defense that gives up over 350 a game...any SJU rb would like to get through that...and will on Saturday

I guess we'll see on Saturday.  Keep believing in statistics...go ahead...and be thankful for that. :)

Saw a guy in a Central hoodie across the platform at Metro Center in DC the other day. Would have loved to get the chance to chat him up but but the rush-hour trains were running fast and furious. Instead, I only have a Wartburgian and Drakester (who almost went to Central) at work, so it's no fun ...

Happy holidays all and here's hoping for a great game Saturday -- preferably my definition of great ;).

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  We did both sides of the family today and boy am I stuffed.

Walston, I talked to the Boelman family today and asked Hyla if she had any dirt on you.  She said she didn't because your whole family is as nice of a family as any she has ever seen.  She did say she is surprised you didn't continue announcing games.  She said you had done that a long time and thought you would stay in it.

The side of our family that lives in Des Moines echoed what many on here have said.  It is almost impossible to get kids from the big Des Moines schools to play Div III football.  Most of them seem to  see it as Div I or bust.

Again, happy thanksgiving to all of you out there.  Stay safe and have a happy holiday season.

If they are only athletes, they can't play d3 football, if they are scholastic they can.

News Flash:

Governor Chet Culver has called out the Iowa National Guard as a result of reports that Johnnie Nation will be invading the state beginning today.

Please inform the Governor that Johnnie Nation comes in peace with such peace offerings as Stiftungsfest burgers, wild rice brats and Hamms beer.  The only thing that will be attacked is the Dutch's 2007 unblemished record.  The Johnnies of Collegeville intend to leave that a smoking heap.
