I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I am one of the very few who is actually working today, the day after Thanksgiving and a Friday! This guy is not the world's happiest about it. In my opinion, no person should ever have to work when there is college football scheduled for the daytime. Yeah corporate world!

I'm sure the Johnnies will bring a good crowd down, I hope we have a good one as well. With Thanksgiving break the students are all gone, but they usually only show when it's 65 and sunny when they are on campus and don't seem very interested. The BKE's no longer keep them into it and the atmosphere gets pretty sad at times. Also, that "pep band" needs to go. They try their best, but honestly it's pretty embarassing. Music over the PA would be much, much better. I don't know how AD the AD would feel about that though.

News Flash:

Governor Chet Culver has called out the Iowa National Guard as a result of reports that Johnnie Nation will be invading the state beginning today.

Please inform the Governor that Johnnie Nation comes in peace with such peace offerings as Stiftungsfest burgers, wild rice brats and Hamms beer.  The only thing that will be attacked is the Dutch's 2007 unblemished record.  The Johnnies of Collegeville intend to leave that a smoking heap.

We'll tell Chet to call off the troops... I think a handful of boyscouts would be sufficient anyway.

We'll be happy to share Stiftungsfest burgers and wild rice brats with the scouts.  No Hamms. ::)

Don't send the Boy Scouts.  Once they meet the Johnnie faithfull and see pictures of Collegeville they understand that attending St Johns is like summer camp for 4 years straight.  Plus they get great jobs after graduating.

Retagent, that would be FOB Salerno Afghanistan. I'll be on my way home for leave in a little over three weeks. Deployment isn't too bad, but this 15 month thing is a ballbuster. Luckily, once I get back from leave I'll only have a 2 months left in country then its back to Ft. Bragg. DF2004, I'll pass on being an officer. The old adage that officers don't do any work is true in garrison but not here. I'll stick with being enlisted. 36 hours to gametime. I can't wait.

The best? Grab a tenderloin and a six pack at Casey's and drive to Des Moines. You can go to Court Avenue and experience some city culture. Or maybe the Batchelor's Library.

If you are talking before the game you might be out of luck in Pella, unless the new Sports Page opens up earlier. Otherwise, no place in Pella opens before 3 on Saturdays. Pella restaurants are not real conducive to being open during good business hours: ie Saturday lunch hour or before. Last year, Dr. Salamis had kegs and eggs for the St. Johns game but I'm not sure about this year.

After the game, Dr. Salamis is usually thee place to go after a Dutch win. Decent food and a little bar packed with Central fans but the Sports Page may be taking some of that crowd.

I moved away a year ago and haven't been to Pella since the Sports Page has been open, we'll probably check it out after the game. We'll have the grills going before the game in the big lot south of the stadium. Technically it's a "dry" campus so the ice cold bevos are usually concealed in cups but stop on by if you would like.

Ok I've had enough!

All you johnnies please just shut up! Leave the Dutch alone. They'll take care of business on Saturday and leave you the next six months of winter to ice fish and drink bear urine disguised in Hamm's cans.
The only people on this boad who are entitled to to crack on Central are Wartburg fans. We can do fine by ourselves without your cold-addled thinking. We are family here, and even though we fight amongst ourselves, we will unify to defeat any outside pains-in-the rears.

This didn't seem natural.....then I read this:

Well, I tried to get on the bandwagon, but my karma went into the crapper. I guess I'll just have to be my annoying old self again.

Long live the Evil Emipre!

BTW, the city culture I was talking about was for the Yonnies. Down here, when we talk about "The Cities" we mean the Quad Cities, twice as good as Minnesota!

I know it! The Bunker is actually kind of a fun little bar that opened up too out at Bos. The Sports Page is out by the new Ford dealership. There is also a Sports Page sporting good store that just opened up also, kind of confusing but a business boom for Pella after that new Wal Mart. You won't even recognize the place anymore when you get back haha
