I know the Dutch can't afford to look past Bethel ... but if there is a Central - Mt. Union match-up in the semis, who will host?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Johnnie Fans, as  a whole, I think you are a great group and have the utmost respect for your team and MOST of your fans.  There are always a few that make us all look bad.  Funny that some of the "Dutch" fans that took the pre-game smack talk the hardest were not Dutch fans, but IIAC fans from other schools.  It's great to see them on our band wagon and we (Dutch fans and other IIAC team fans) don't get many chances to "gloat" when it comes to the Johnnies, so you have to be a little forgiving, the excitement can get to the best of us at times.  It probably has something to do with "the Johnnies have had their way with the IIAC teams" comment made by one poster.  All fans want to defend their teams when such a comment is made.

Bethel, we know you will bring a different look and have played us closely in the past.  We aren't looking past you, or we are trying real hard not to, some of us fans can't help but wonder about the possible first meeting with the kings of DIII football.  I'm sure the coaches have the guys on the team focusing on Bethel.  Bring a big crowd and have safe travels.

Mt. Union would host as I understand it.

I know that rosters are limited to 50 some guys for the play-off games.  But, can a team bring different guys for different games or do they have to stick with the same roster all the way?  It looked to me like Central only had 3 guys on the defensive line on Saturday.  Might they include a couple more D-linemen on the roster that faces Bethel, since it sounds like they are more of a run team than St John's?

Congrats to the Dutch, Saturday was the first time I'd gotten a chance to see them play in a couple of years, and I was very impressed.  It amazes me how they are consistently able to turn out winning football team after winning football team.  The only aspect of Saturday that I would question would be the drive in the 3rd quarter where they settled for a field goal instead of a touchdown when they had the ball first and goal on about the half yard line.  Why not give the ball to Schuring with a fullback in front of him out of the I instead of sending each ballcarrier into a different side of the line.  I guess though, when someone has to nitpick about something like this, it means there was a pretty good performance on the field.

Saturday was also the first time I'd ever seen St. John's play.  I thought that the Johnnies looked very small compared to Central, and that Centrals size helped them to wear the Johnnies out.  Does St. John's normally have more size than they had this year?  I was impressed with the SJU quarterback who made some nice audibles to get SJU into plays to take advantage of Central's defensive alignment when they were available.  He made some nice throws up the seams.

No, the Johnnies are pretty small usually.

52 unless it's changed in the past couple years.  I'm pretty sure you can change it up from week to week.

Mr Shoes,

Well from the posts before the game you were not very humble.  But I can say after the game you all have been most gracious you really have.  It is kind of hard not to bring up the past quotes from all of the MIAC posters about the upcoming (now past game).

DF1 did a nice job of some of the past quotes being brought up but there were a few that I thought she missed.

There are no better football fans that SJU's they are loyal and true fanatics about their team.  You have to love and respect them for that.  I am sure that going to Cville is a great time.  I kind of regret not getting to experience it.  Maybe in the future when time permits I will take in a game up there for fun.  I know I will have to get something to do after this year.  I know I will continue to go to the Dutch games but maybe I will go experience a home Stiftungfest to see how the tailgate masters do it.

That's how I would expect any fan to act. Be confident in your boys before the game, talk them up, think positively, look for the edge that'll get a win for your team, talk a little trash to get passions up on both sides. If things don't go as planned/hoped, be gracious and give props where they're due. The only thing more disappointing than ending the season early is never having the passion to care.
Nice day, huh?

Mr. Shoes & Duffman & VOJ,

I will say that you all have been the most gracious of the Johnnie supporters after the Central victory.  You guys have even decided to hang around for awhile and continue to post on the IIAC page, and I welcome the outside opinions.  Please come by and drop some knowledge on us and share some opinions and insights anytime.

There are a lot of the Johnnie followers that have disappeared after the monkey stomp, though.  Probably because they don't want to hear about how Central dominated the Johnnies from the opening kickoff.  They can talk a lot of smack about how great the Johnnies are but run and hide when they get dominated.  My previous post was aimed at them, not true fans like you guys.  Gotta be able to take the medicine... ;)

edited to include VOJ  :)

I second Duff...I came in congratulated you and praised your D and QB...and I get dinged by you guys in the karma department, yes Johnnies fans talk alot of smack, but it was great fun reading the posts last week, enjoy the spoils Dutch fans, but don't act like spoiled brats...

I also think that the Dutch have a good chance, but I wonder how the Dutch rush D will stand up to the pounding that Bethel likes to deliver...against SJU the running game was not a factor due to the score and the way the J's like to play...I hope its a great game on Saturday

Don't worry VOJ... the IIAC posters are hovering over the SMITE button way too much.  You'll get -k for being affiliated with another team... don't worry about it.
The only thing capable of cutting Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris...

One thing I noticed about this last week was how the IIAC banded together. We are a family though slightly dysfunctional. We fight amongst ourselves like brothers, but will unite against anyone from the outside who challenges us. Don't worry, after Central wins it all we'll give them a while to appreciate it and then we'll go back to the fighgting and name calling we had before. Until then....

GO DUTCH!!!!!!
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

If the priests forgot to teach us how to be humble, who do we blame for teaching you how to be ungraciuous in victory? IT'S A GAME GUYS!!

Pat Coleman

You can probably blame the cross-border invasion from the north for prompting them to be ungracious in victory ... just a thought.

To answer the earlier question, you can change your 52-man roster at any time, up to 10 minutes before kickoff.
