I went looking for the IIAC All-Conference Team for 2007 but couldn't find it. Is that out yet or does someone have a link to that?

Congrats to Central

retagent

Maybe if you all went back and read posts after last year's SJU win over Central, you might not be so quick to throw around the accusations about Johnnie fans gloating. Or maybe you could go to the MIAC or SCIAC boards to see how we handled our Monkey Stomp over Redlands. MIAC had three teams in the top 25 at the end of the year by the way for anyone interested.

Congrats to the Dutch on the big win.  I was very impressed by their corners--even on the rare occasions that Kofoed was able to dance away from pressure he still had no open receivers to throw (which didn't keep him from trying, mind you).  The difference between the two secondaries was pretty dramatic, and the Dutch receivers made some pretty rediculous plays, too.

It is hard to get a feel for how the Dutch will match up with Bethel next week because I know next week's game won't look anything like Saturday's.  The Royals rushing attack is head and shoulders above the Johnnies', which should at least keep the game close.  It will be interesting to see how the Central defense looks in the 4th quarter after having to actually play defense for the first three.

I'll admit going into the game that I had Central grouped with a handful of teams (including the Johnnies) that were a full notch below UW-Whitewater (who are, obviously, another notch below Mount Union).  I would be interested to see how the Dutch match up with the Purple Raiders if (assuming they get the opportunity) they play as well in two weeks as they played on Saturday.  I still think they lose by 3+ TDs, but this performance certainly shows they can dismantle a good team.

To everyone talking about St. John's being a middle-teir IIAC now based off of one game, get over it.  Two good teams played each other, one played well, one played poorly.  But you're dreaming if you think St. John's finishes .500 in the IIAC this year.

Don't know if he makes his way over to these boards or not--and if he does, apologies in advance for hurting his feelings--but the PA announcer was beyond pathetic.  Would it have killed him to get some of the St. John's name pronunciations down prior to kickoff?  Of course the Johnnies lost, they had some ass name Patnodey starting in place of Patnode at running back and some Polish guy returning kicks and running routes in place of Chace Pollock.  Big surprise, though--he nailed Ben Vanderheyden.  Also, the continuous editorializing of the play on the field got old, oh, about the first time I heard about the "intense pressure" applied by Players A, B, C, D, E, F, and a water boy.  I'm sure it would have bothered me a ton less if the scores were reversed, but it sounded ridiculously bush league.

I thought the turnout by the St. John's fans was strong--the bleachers on the Johnnie side were full.  Didn't help much, as there was nothing to cheer for all day.

Let's try it again next year, huh?  It'll be interesting to see what kind of team the Johnnies bring back.  I'm sure there are a bunch of stars on the roster that we just haven't heard of.  It sounds like the Dutch are losing some good players--hopefully it will be a better match-up next time the teams meet.

DBQ1965.... Thanks

By your handle you must be a Spartan.  They had an impressive year. The QB put up some great numbers. Seems like he will be missed next year.

Walston Hoover

HOW CAN ANYONE MESS UP THE NAME POLLOCK???
If its the same guy they've had the past several years, he's had experience saying it.
POLLOCK with the crushing block
POLLOCK springs Marsh for a Touchdown
POLLOCK with the tackle
POLLOCK with the dropped int.
POLLOCK with the sack.

That's not the first time he's been complained about on this board.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

So would St. Johns be a middle of the road IIAC team this year?
Didn't we already dismiss this silly comparative score BS? Or would Augsburg -- which won AT Walston Hoover -- be the No. 2 team in the IIAC?

Pretty lame pot stirring, I'd say. What has Wartburg ever done in the playoffs anyway? Back to d3wrasslin.com for you.

One thing that I think the johnnie posters are assuming in error that the Dutch fans are giving out the -K.  If you look there are only about half a dozen Dutch posters over 200 posts and don't have the power to do that.  VOJ I gave you some k when you were at -29 this am for your posts.  Other gracious people too.  I didn't however give you -K for all of your pre game bantering as I knew there could be a day of atonement for it.  IMO It is easier to be the one to point out the unwise remarks after the game and have to swallow a bitter pill than to spew it before the game and take your medicine afterwards.

In your opinion from what I am taking and tell me if I am wrong it must be ungracious to point out the statements before the game after a win?  But it is very gracious and expected to give out these statements before the game?

I am not gloating here you are really good eggs you truly are (at least the ones I met ;D) but you do have to expect if you are man enough to dish it out then you better be man enough to take it when it comes back at you (a saying from DF2004 dad).

The talk about SJU being a middle of the road IIAC team is not holding water.  I think the IIAC has enough talent that it could have happened but with the coaching staff and tradition, they have they would have been no worse than #3  Wartburg with their loss to Augsburg I think could have beaten them with a great game.  UD may have given them fits but I think SJU still finds a way to win against UD.  Wartburg is a very good team and could be where we are now if it had not been for Augsburg.

Walston I have no idea how they could confuse fish with a country ;D ;D ;D ;D

Retired Old Rat ...

Thanks for your words:  "For grown men and women, the greatest revenge is the victory.  Stooping to the level of those you criticize is immature and hypocritical."

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And for pirat ... yes ... a Spartan forever.  It was a great year for UD football after too many lean years ... and Jermar Jackson will be missed.  Did you see that he was selected for the Aztec Bowl?

TC: Were you at the game on Saturday?  Astute analysis sir.  I and several of the JF.com crew had identical sentiments regarding the Busch league Public Address Announcer for the Dutch.  It was ridiculous and highly unprofessional to exclaim or give the play in detail especially when Central was on Offense instead of sticking to the facts like a good PA announcer does.  This guy was off his rocker.  I am sure it wouldn't have been as bothersome had we been even a little competitive, but nonetheless it was really tacky and noticeable.

Thoughts from the Dutch fans?  Are you aware of this?  It was quite easy to pick up on this.

I couldn't agree more DF2004.....The Johnnies would be a top 3 team for sure and would be competing year in and year out for the conference championship.  The MIAC is a good conference and to be at the top of that conference year in and year out speaks volumes about the coaching staff and the athletes that attend SJU.  In my experience, at Aurora and at Luther, we had our share of troubles with the MIAC, specifically Bethel and St. Olaf.

Go Norse!!!

I, for one, enjoyed the visit from the St. John's folks to THE CENTRAL BRACKET.  It would be interesting to hear from some Bethel fans about how their team is either too big, too fast, too smart, too intimidating, too good on one playing surface vs the other, too etc., for Central's luck to be able to get them another win this week.  I would especially enjoy discussing how lucky Central was to beat Bethel 2004 and 2005 despite the statistics being lopsided in Bethel's favor.

Careful, 'rex. Bringing up historical performances is worthless, remember? ;)
