Welcome to Iowa Freebird.  You may have won the stat battle both of those games but we know that only one stat counts and that is what is on the scoreboard.  The missed extra point was the difference in 04 and the 05 game was a total team effort.  I think you have seen that the Dutch pride themselves on that fact.  They don't care where the stats come from just that there are enough points on the board to win.  I agree with you that it will be a good game and we are excited about it as well.  Safe travels to all who are planning on coming.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree.  While I think we "should" have won, Central did what it takes to win and that is what matters.

Do you PP folks have a tailgate gathering or is it pretty spread out?

This is on Bethel fan checking in and hoping this boards discussion moves away from a team who got stomped out of the playoffs...

I'm excited about the game this week for a number of reasons

1. I'm hoping for some redemption for the Royals. I watched us lose twice in the last 4 years to Central in games we could have won.  I'm not taking anything away from those Central teams but I really feel like we should have won both of them.  Also I'm sure all our seniors have those games in the back of their head and want some pay back.  I'm sure they also know that Central finds a way to win and hopefully this will help US "leave no doubt"   ;)

2.  I will get to attended my 2 game of the year.  My first 3 years of college I went to every game.  Then last year, my senior year, I unexpectedly got a job with MNF which pulled me away from the cities every weekend.  I have the same type of job this year but fortunately I can come watch the guys this weekend.

3. I get to see classmates and 5th year seniors Ben Wetzel, Steve Luebke, Tommy Davis, and Aaron Moberg play at least once more game.

4. Because last time I went to Central I got really sunburnt and I'm excited that won't happen this time.

5.  Rumor is Central is pretty good this year so it will be fun to see what they are all about.

6.  I'm buying a hybrid car and am excited to make my first, long, gas friendly drive with it.

Best of luck to both teams this week!

On the subject of sunburns, the last couple of homecomings Central has passed out little packets of sun block.  I thought it was a great idea considering how many fair skinned ancestors of northern Europeans were baking in the bleachers.  I always meant to write to the alumni office and tell them what a good idea it was but instead I will just tell you guys.

What is MNF?  Don't spell it out all the way if it will get you kicked off of the board.

I suppose there are a few ways to spell that out in a vulgar way  :)

Fortunately in my case I mean Monday Night Football

Not to serious at all.  I just remember when I tailgated there in 04 talking to some nice people from Central.  However I doubt I will make it in time this saturday to set up.

We have a few that tailgate kind of spread out.

The tailgating at Central is pretty limited actually but there are basically two possibilities. There is a big lot south of the field up the hill that the freshmen students all park in. Last weekend it was pretty much empty besides the tailgaters because of turkey day. This week that lot will be filled for the most part except for the front two rows on the East side which are generally reserved for game parking and the southwest corner, where Cental alumni tend to set up shop, particularly for the playoff games.

Technically it's a "dry" campus but as long as you "conceal" your ice cold bevos you are good to go. Other than that, there is some parking on the north side of the field which is actually the baseball field parking.

Should be another fun weekend in Pella. Salamis and the new Sports Page were pretty lively after the game, hopefully we're celebrating another win this weekend.

Congrats to the IIAC Aztec Bowl choices.  I hope like you Dutch Radio that he is very busy and unable to attend that game.

Do any of the regular Central PP tailgaters have any sign or flag of some sort that signifies your tailgaiting headquarters?  I am trying to rearrange my schedule so that I may make it down.  Being a Beake, I'm thinking of bringing down a "Playoff Paint Can."  Maybe even some burnt mac n' chesse.  ;)

Unless the Johnnies are in town, there isn't much tailgating being done in Arden Hills.  But I hear their pregame prayer circles really kick ass.

Thanks for the heads-up on UD's schedule for next year.  Living in west Michigan, I would love to see the Spartans schedule an MIAC (Olivet or Hope are the closest) team.  I even would be willing to host a pre-game alumni gathering (with the help of the Alumni Office, of course) for the die-hards that would show up.

Go Spartans!

Not picking on you but the MIAC is the Minnesota conference the MIAA is the Michigan one.  Just thought you should know.  The trip we went to Hope this year was a good one.  I highly recomend that other IIAC teams consider the Michigan schools.  It was fun to get out of town and see some sites.  Took in the Ford Presidential Museum it was only like 30 minutes North of Hope.

Won't make it this Saturday as I will be in Minnesota preparing to attend the Sunday afternoon contest between my beloved Lions and those purple-clad Vi-Queens...but I will make it a game in Pella during the 2008 season.

Hope those little Lions are ready to play.  Vikes are tough to beat at home.  I bet Kitna is going to have a hard time sleeping the night before after seeing what they did to Eli Manning.  If you remember the Lions barely squeeked one out in OT last time.  If we had a decent kicker we would have ended it before OT.  A lions win at home means a walk for Minnesota at home.  Vikes big D scores 3 TD's Little O ( man that is so backwards for me) scores 3.  24-9 Vikings.  This also would make us in the playoff hunt!

I thought the Bethel crowd in Arden Hills was great in 2005.  But I guess I enjoy being the visitor at a loud home crowd and pulling out a win.  Always fun to watch 2000+ hearts being broken.  Of course it isn't the best of times being on the other side of that when youre team loses.  I'm a cubs fan so I'm kind of used to that....Along with a Hawks fan....and to top it off the Vikings fan.  Should have beaten those Falcons in 98...

I picked Central to win last week 35-28....I was kind of close with at least 1 team.  So here goes.   Central 28 Bethel 17
