Kind of shocked and disappointed that Gus didn't get an Aztec nod...

I don't know about shocked, but between the two, I woulda gone with Gustafson over Pierce.

I agree, Gustafson was a stud!

Weather won't bother the Dutch much, they're focused.   Last week the speedy DBs who shut down SJU, this week it looks like these run defenders have to step up.  30 degrees and rain/snow predicted for Saturday so we're looking for low scoring but still confident in this Dutch D to get the job done.   I also believe Connell can throw the ball in any weather if need be.  The big difference though will be special teams so I'll go Dutch 28 Bethel 10.  Go Dutch

Big weekend for IIAC Football...The Dutch with another playoff win on the way and Coe's own Fred Jackson with a very good chance of starting for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Good Luck to both the Dutch and Fred!

Dutch...hey, I was wondering if the Dutch have got some new jerseys since they played Linfield? They seem to have a little stripe on them that I didn't see before?

Bluenote

PS....I think they look really sharp!

DBQ1965

I noticed only two QB's were picked for the Aztec Bowl ... UD's Jermar Jackson and SJU's Alex Kofoed.  For the full roster, see:

Wow, we try to roll out the red carpet for the D3football guru himself and the weather guys just don't want to work with us too much.  Still predicting rain, sleet and snow for Saturday, just all depends on what the temps do.  Last year we were excited to have Keith at Cornell to see part of our game and it rains HARD, the entire game.  What are the odds, now Pat is coming and we are going to have the worst weather of the year.  We're thrilled to have you, Pat, but is there a little storm cloud following you guys around?   :o

Special deal of the week, your football tickets will get you into the women's basketball game at 3:30 and the men's game at 5:30.  The things we have to do to get people to the basketball games!   :'(

If the weather gets as bad as what they're saying, the football fans might not have anywhere else to go!

Earlier this week it didn't sound like the weather would be a factor during the game but now it sounds like a full day of rain/sleet/snow. It could be a pretty miserable to day to play/watch. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds like it could be.

I dont think so, the only thing they added was small lettering Central across the chest. Otherwise I believe they are the same. What little stripe were you talking about?

Classic is best as far as Im concerned, this general style has won for 40+ years, why change now!

Fred Jackson was featured on ESPN today on one of the fantasy players to pick up.  Could be a steal!

I just picked him up and started him... I'm out of the playoffs in my league anyway. Hopefully he represents the IIAC well!

I have a prediction for Saturday: It might become known as "The Ice Bowl" if the weathermen are correct....and of course Central wins!

**Winter Storm Watch Saturday Morning Through Sat. Night for much of Iowa**

I just went to weather.com and this is the forecast for Iowa, including Pella on Saturday:

CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE RAPIDLY SATURDAY MORNING AS SNOW SPREADS FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST ACROSS THE STATE. OVER THE SOUTHWEST HALF OF IOWA...THE SNOW WILL NOT LAST LONG AND QUICKLY TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET BEFORE TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING LATER IN THE AFTERNOON. HOWEVER UNTIL THAT TIME SIGNIFICANT ICING AND SLEET MAY OCCUR WITH TWO TO FOUR TENTHS OF ICE ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE.

Anyone ever remember a football game in a winter storm?

Glad to see the IIAC bloggers are supporting the Dutch on Saturday.  All IIAC fans seem to be wishing   the best against Bethel.  This says something about the sportmanship and yet competition of the IIAC. I don't see the same thing from St. John's supporters for the MIAC.  Are their losses too bitter?

Go DUTCH !!  This Norse fan is for you !!
