DBQ1965

Just checked weather.com for Pella.  At 7:45 a.m. CST, temp was 25 with windchill of 13 with winds gusting to 25 mph.  Predictions are for rain, freezing rain and snow with 1- 2 inches of snow changing to rain and freezing rain by nightfall.

Things won't be much better here in west Michigan where Grand Valley State (always a sell-out) hosts Central Washington in a D-2 quarterfinal game ... but that will be on Comcast Local.

Go Dutch ... and remember the Spartans!

Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Wartburg Fan

grandsons basketball tourney concel for this weekend so will get to listen to the game today. Glad to hear sportsknight is doing the game will have a Wartburg fare to the game, Now only if Walson was all so in the booth (just Joking Dutch fans). Always enjoyed listening to Walson. Step outside a few minutes ago, freezing rain in The Ames area. Just about took a header on my driveway not a good thing for an old man. Everyone be safe if your going to the game.

    Go Knights

Go Dutch do the IIAC proud.

Sounds like DBQ1965 is wussing out and watching Grand Valley on TV  instead of travelling to the stadium ;D

Well that way you can watch your local Grand Valley State team on TV while listening to your fellow IIAC team Central...announced by a Wartburg alum over the internet!!!

DBQ1965...do you get lake effect snow in your part of Michigan???  If so, you are probably used to getting 3ft of snow at a time and laugh at us talking about 6-9 inches!!!

Old Dutch

Just got off the roads 5 min ago, sheet of ice, 30 MPH tops for you travelers.  Worst part was trying to keep the ice from accumulating on the windshield.  Be safe.

We can prgnosticate all we want about who this weather favors in this game, but it will be the same for both teams, who adjusts better and does not drop the ball will probably be the winner.  One thing I know it doesn't favor the fans!!!

I posted on daily dose asking about NCAA postponement policy in unplayable conditions (sheet of ice on the field turf?), maybe Pat can enlighten us.  If the weather does warm up as predicted a 3:00 start time may be beneficial???  Good luck to all, players and travelers alike!  time to start collecting enough clothes to wear.

I thought the 6-lane pool was odd. I'm not a competitive swimming expert, I just watch the Olympics ever four years and they have 8-lanes just like track & field. The high school I graduated from put in a 6-lane pool in 1972 and as a youngster remember the muttering from adults that the pool was outdated the day it opened. Overall the facility sounds very nice and will serve Wart. and the city of Waverly nicely.

Now this is only speculation from me, but Wartburg hasn't had (and I'd venture the guess that they will continue to not have) a swimming team.  For that reason, I think that the 6-lane lap pool is all they really need for recreational lap swimmers.

With the athletic facilities arms race that has been going on.  I guess pretty soon we will see heated fields to go along with covered stands with heated seats ;D ;D ;D

Wow.  Good work on the roads.  Safe travels to everyone.

Here is one SJU fan that will be pulling for the Dutch today.  Good luck.

Go Dutch.

Walston Hoover

Yeah, not going today. Had a tough time walking back up my driveway with the ice on it, and we're about to lose power. Lights have been flickering on and off for the last 45 minutes.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Weather report from Pleasantville (about twenty miles west of Pella): Very slick coming into my office this morning and it continues to be sleeting pretty heavily.  Be very careful if you are coming to the game. I was really bummed about missing deer hunting this weekend to work but I think today will be a great day to listen to the Dutch on the radio.  Go Big Red and be safe!

Klompen - Maybe I should check before posting this, but if Pat answers about the postponement policy, he will address this as well. I believe that since the North Region is seeded higher than the West Region, even if SJF wins, the winner of the West Region bracket will travel next week.

Pat -

Welcome to Pella!  You know "Pella" means "city of refuge"......except from winter storms.  Hope you've got a spot up in the press box today!

Curious to see how the new Dutch offense does in the winter conditions......Bethel's run vs Central's West Coast Offense on a cold winter day......as a Dutch Fan, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit nervous!

WH.... charge up the backup laptop batteries while you can so you can listen to the Dutch today.  Hopefully the power will be back on in enough time to watch the Big XII championship today.

They're picking up our feed - so now you can listen to sportsknight and I on 92.1 FM or 1460 AM.

Of course, worldwide at www.kniakrls.com

Listen to Central College football on 92.1 KRLS, www.kniakrls.com and the KRLS app.
