Here are the top ten paid employees at Simpson...this was published in The Simpsonian on March 22, 2007. I'm only assuming this is the latest info. As you will see, the AD is not on the list.

I have to ask this question.  Does it seem that with maybe the exception of the presidents salary (because you need a man or woman at the top to lead the college) isn't that a lot of money spent on non productive salaries?  If they have some teaching responsibilities then maybe I am wrong but that seems like that is having a whole lot of chiefs at the top.

BV probably has about that many VPs, but their salaries aren't quite as high.  I assume this is due to lower enrollment and cost-of-living differences.

Walston- Got a question for you where do you thing the knights need to improve for next year, what position do they did help at ?
Going to need a corner to replace Weber, that's for sure. Could use a game breaking running back, but I'd really like to see us get back to a smash-mouth team. Really seemed more like a finesse team this year. That's going to take an ***-knocker of a fullback a la Ben Thompsen.

I agree with you. We need a back like Hammes or  Parker and the run back in 2003, Iknow his name just can't spell it. How about some guys on the O-line that can open up some holes. I don't know if they have recurit a fullback, in a while.  Did you know that Weber have surgery on his hand after the season was over?

I think the Knights need to improve the tailgating area.  Some work will need to be done when the construction trailers move out.  ;D
Other than that I think Walston is right on target.

Your also right I really didn't like the tailgate area this year. Would like to see it mover back to where it was.

That's a legit question 2004.  In my experience (Wartburg), the president of the college is a lot more of a figurehead and the VPs are involved in a lot more of the day-to-day running of the school.  Think of it like a football team:  you have the head coach, who has final say over everything, but isn't spending every waking moment working with the O-Line or the WRs or the punters.  A lot of what college presidents do is "outward activity."  Hosting guests on campus, making nice with alums and the Board or Regents, etc.  The more inward or behind the scenes stuff is handled by the VPs, with the Prez getting periodic updates on how everything's going.

Far as the pay of IIAC football coaches, I'm guessing everyone is somewhere in the $80-40k range.  If I had to guess at how all the coaches fall (based on tenure and success), it'd probably be something like this:
1.  Raeburn
2.  McMartin
3.  Koehler
4.  Osterberger (mostly by virtue of his overall experience, not just his time at Loras)
5.  Brautigam
6.  Anderson
7.  Dillon

The AD's are all probably making six figs, except for maybe at Cornell, where they don't have a full-time AD right now and don't put many resources into athletics to begin with.  Again, just a guess, but I'd say that Rundle at UD, Dorenkamp at Central, or Chandler at Coe are probably taking home the top dollar.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brautigham higher on the list. UD has a lot of money, and what he has done over there should make them REALLY want to keep him.
Knowing the conservative and penny-pinching nature of Dutch, I wouldn't be surprised if McMartin was lower on the list.

Hodapp was the feature back of '03, Beatty in '02 and '01, Molstre before that, Shannon before that, and Bobby Beatty before that.
Pretty good company for any featured Knights runningback to be in.

Hodapp was #5 wasn't he.  He was a horse and I mean he was a man out there on the field.  Then came Hammes and I think he was better than Hodapp if that was possible.  Wartburg has been able to get good backs.  When Hodapp was running they had a big tackle don't know his name but 78 was the number I believe.  He was huge.  Got to be fun running behind a guy that big.

I don't think it matters how good of a running back you are if you don't have a good line to make holes for you to run through.

As far as preferences.  It seems almost all people fall into two camps...smash mouth or an air assault.  I must be one of those few people that likes seeing a balanced attack.  I like seeing a running back with 100 yds but I also like seeing the qb with 200+ yds passing...even better if those 2 players are UD Spartans!!!

Hey DF2K4...family is the most important thing...though the way our girls were acting up today you might have been able to talk my wife into giving 1 or both of them away  :D  I think I got home from work in the knick of time this evening.  I took over and let my wife dissapear for awhile.  After somewhat calming them down I came to realize that if our son ends up playing football he will probably end up on the Defensive side.  He likes hitting anything and everything.  He used me for a tackling dummy for an hour before putting him to bed.

It's nice having some coaching vacancies this time of year.  It's keeping us talking here on this board!!!  That and speculating over how much these coaches might be getting paid.

DutchFan2004

Sorry Doolittle,

If that was an offer to take one or both of those girls I humbley can not accept.  After having 4 boys and 2 grandsons I would have no idea how or what to play with those girls or how to keep them entertained.  I am sure they are very lovely girls but the good Lord did not equip me for the raising of the fairer sex  ;D ;D ;D

couple things..

Coach Miller got a  nice pay raise back in the day 99 or 00' I think when he was the top canditate for the UNI job. WB obviously couldn't offer quite as much as what UNI could, but they did give him a nice raise at that time.
So when your coach is being courted by a D1 school that happens.  He more than deserves that as well, they've placed 1st or 2nd @ Nationals about every year for the past 10-12 years.

BV did have a good running back in the late 90's,  albeit for 1 year.  1999- Ben Smith
They somehow had like 3 RB's named Ben Smith, but the one in 99' was the best one.
The Ben Smith who started for them in 00' put up some big games as well until he cracked his rib in the WB game, and that hampered him the rest of the season.

pretty sweet game by Freddy yesterday.  He exposed  fellow d3 LB  london fletcher on his 54 yd catch and got his 22 yd gain on the first play of the game when Wash  only lined up with 10 guys to honor Taylor.

I do have a question though, when did he put on 30 pounds?
They have him listed @ 215 and when I played against him(his so yr)  he was maybe 180-185

Has anyone noticed that we are only like 4 pages behind the WIAC board?  I don't remember being this close.  Maybe having Central play 3 playoff games has been a good thing.   ;D
