I know Dordt spent '06 recruiting, '07 was a JV schedule, and then '08 will be their first varsity year.

I guess Grand View decided to just jump into the deep end right from the get go.

Should help the new Simpson coach to start off with a 2-0 record!!!

I just looked at Simpson's website, and they list Lounsberry as associate head coach. Could it be that they will interview candidates that will not take the job and then just give it to Lounsberry? Just idle speculation on my part.

Lounsberry was the associate head coach for the entire year, so it wasn't a post-Niemann resignation move. I've heard that he really wants the job, but there are no indications that he will even get an interview.

DF2K4...sounds like your kid would make a great coach!!!

Well Doolittle that is his plan.  He is getting ready to apply for grad school and wants to get a GA position.

DutchFan 2004, this is what makes DIII so great. Basically the players have no NFL aspirations and are playing for the love of the game yet they nut it up and go out week after week and compete harder than many DI kids. Every team has someone inspirational who is playing through pain purely to help their team. Please tell your son thanks for giving Central fans a lot of thrills.
Also congratulations to all the seniors who toughed it out for four years and gave all the fans around the league so much great football to enjoy. Everyone who played knows there are tough times even for the best players in the best programs. Now you get to become a message board has beens ;D

Thats 's the great part.  I think I will continue to follow the Dutch and attend some of the games.  I may not attend all as there is not an urgent reason to attend  such as watching your kid but I will follow them and support them here on the boards.

Simpson also has alot of players back next year. Reutzel is back at running back along with Dietz at Qb and most of the offensive line and most of the defense with both Stovers back . They will really miss Kain at receiver and Nelson the kicker otherwise could be a very good tem for whoever gets the job

I think next year will be like most other years in the IIAC there won't be a push over team from top to bottom.

Yes, I've talked to a few people around the program who said, with the players coming back, the new coach should come in and win at least 6 games. The cupboard certainly isn't bare.

I think that's what the issue ahs been there for a couple of years, there is some good talent that hasn't produced like they maybe should have. With the right new coach and corresponding new attitude Simpson will be tough.

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I am really interested in seeing who Simpson hires. I didn't think JN was a great coach or that he was terrible. I assumed they had someone specific in mind to replace him when he was let go. Maybe one of the guys on staff or a unknown will be great.
To show what I know about hiring coaches everyone I knew (including me) thought Central settled when they got McMartin and he has been outstanding!

Central likes keeping old studs around to assist while working on said graduate degrees, as well.  I hope that that is a consideration on both sides.

My Dad is a Wabash grad, and when I told him who Central hired he breathed a sigh of relief that McMartin was gone from DePauw (I think that the Dannies had won the Monon Bell a few times during his tenure as OC there). :)

I agree, though...after having Schipper as the only coach for as long as we did...I never thought a replacement would ever possibly fill those extremely huge shoes.  We'll see as McMartin continues on if he can continue to build on what has been an excellent start...and maybe one day become a legend as well.

Fingers crossed.

I hope he continues on the path he is on now. Skip retired my freshman year, and Kac took over. Expectations (and hopes) were pretty high for Kac's tenure too.... I hope McMartin hangs around a little longer than Kac did.

Just wanted to leave my $.02 worth and congratulate the Dutch on a very nice playoff run!  I'd say that top-to-bottom, the north region bracket was the toughest in the entire playoffs... especially with Mt. Union waiting on the opposite end of it!!!

Congrats again to Bethel on the regional championship!  Good luck against the purple monster this weekend!
