Sounds like Luther is closer to filling the job than Simpson.

Sounds like he would be 32 or 33 years old.  Could coach there a long, long time if he likes it in Indianola.

McMartin has been great but Central loses a ton of great players.
Next season is where the rubber hits the road for McMartin.  His recruits really start to enter the picture next fall.  Rich Kac's success declined severely after Schipper's recruiting prowess graduated.  Flux will be interesting indeed.

I don't know if that's the case.  Kac's first recruiting class would have been seniors in 2000.  I'd put that team up against most Central teams...including this year's.

I'm 99% sure Glogowski was BV's #2 choice when Anderson was hired.

He was one of three guys who got on-campus interviews and met with the players.  He seemed like a great guy, and he really connected with the players well.  I've heard from guys who attended camp at USD that they really liked him too.  Simpson should do well with him at the helm.

Dutchster,

Either I or you have misread this subject.  Coach Kac can not have any more players on the team as 2004 was was the first class that MacMartin recruited.  Kac would have maybe started some recruiting with 2004 but Coach Mac finished it up.  Next year will be Mac's fifth year.  I don't think that Kac really left the team fully stocked of players.  I don't think there were a lot of good players from 5-5 and 6-4 but I think that with 29-1 the last three years there are some good players to carry on the tradition.  Some are pretty young and we will have to see how they progress but I have heard the coaches say that some of the best classes they have ever had were younger players and they started some good things as eveidenced by they way Central has had Multi year champs.

Has anybody heard of the OC at UD getting any interviews???  Joe Austin was a finalist for a Div. II HC job last year up in Minnesota or one of the Dakotas if I remember correctly.  Just curious if he had any interest in any DIII jobs in this area or if he is setting his sights higher up the food chain.  Or would it be too hard for any IIAC school to accept hiring someone from UD  ;D  ;D  ;D

I have heard that at least a few players already think the top choice should be a certain coordinator finalist rather than a current head coach.  The coordinator has been at a really good program in recent years and has six years of previous head coaching experience at two small colleges.

There is another assistant coach still to be interviewed that interests me as well.

There are no Luther coaches or ex-Luther coaches among the five candidates interviewing.

Wait a second.  Iowa's OC Ken O'Keefe qualifies there.  Iowa has been good in recent years.  And he was a head coach at Fordham and Allegeney...two small colleges!!!

That would be a big hire...but alas, I don't think that is who you are talking about  ;D

Ok ... we have Harry Smith as a football student-athlete at Central.  When I was teaching at UD in the late 60's, one of my students was Anthony Iadanza ... now known at Tony Danza .. a wrestler for the Spartans.  Any other IIAC athletes gone on to fame?

Yes I realize there are no more of Kac's players at Central.  I was simply responding to Oldbeake's assertion that Kac's success declined when he ran out of Skip's recruits.  That would be a false assumption considering three straight Iowa Conference championships in 00, 01, and 02 with his own recruits.  In regards to your comments regarding the talent of players from the 5-5 and 6-4 teams...with all due respect...I'm not sure you know what you're talking about in regards to that issue.  As long as you brought it up, I have no doubt that the future of Central College Football is in good hands with the current coaching staff and young talent.  Their record the past 3 years has been stellar.  Interesting fact...Central was 26-2 in the IIAC in the 3 years preceding 2003.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  If Glogowski takes Simpson to the top and BV stays where it is at or worse, the top brass in SL might be scratching there heads a bit.
