Here's to a wonderful season in the IIAC. Even though it is horribly un-PC these days, I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

(Interpret as Happy Hanukah, Merry Kwanza, et al. as you see fit)

Here is a press release regarding UD's 2008 schedule.  http://www.dbq.edu/udathletics/football/news1.cfm?ID=768

Season opener at home against Rockford and the 2nd game of the season at Redlands will both be 7pm kickoffs!!!

Part of the reason for dropping Wisconsin Lutheran was a desire to play "in region"  went on to mention how Redlands is a traditional power in California.

Today is the 22nd and I am done with christmas shopping!!!  A whole 2 days ahead of my normal schedule  ;D ;D ;D

That's what I was thinking.  I guess they figured near nobody would actually know that info and just believe what they wrote up in the release!!!

Hopefully you all are having a great holiday so far.  There is some sad news to report today, though, as Breitbach's Bar and Restaraunt  in Balltown was destroyed by fire yesterday.  Was a great little place to go eat, and I'm sure some of you stopped by on the way to or fro IIAC games in Dubuque.

sportsknight:

You are correct the loss of the Breitbach Bar and Restaurant is too bad.  The Warthog clan has enjoyed stopping there over the years.

As you well know the building was very old which leads to one of my favorite Breitbach stories.  Little Warthog and I stopped on our way home after a recruiting visit to Luther.  When we were seated at a table and our drinks were delivered we noticed a severe tilt in the table.  So severe in fact that liquid was flowing out of our tumblers.  I mentioned something to the waitress and antiscipated we would be moved.  Instead they just asked us to back up and they rotated the table 180 degrees.  Then it was perfectly flat.  Apparently over the years the building settled but instead of repairing the floor they would just cut the legs of tables to have flat surfaces.  I loved it.

And yet GB still keeps losing to them...what is up with that?  I thought Favre and the rest of the green and gold are from the FROZEN TUNDRA and the weather doesn't effect them at all.  In fact cold winter weather helps them win games....didn't look like it on Sunday.
