New to the board......

Has anyone heard or seen any additional news on the new Simpson staff?  I saw that they hired a new Head Coach in Jim Glogowski who brought in Simpson alum Joe Beschorner as the OC.  Have been curious to see how the hiring have gone over and impact on recruiting.....or more importantly what's the outlook for 2008?

My brother just visited this week.  He had been pretty set on BV, but he really liked the coaches at Simpson and is now considering going there.  One of his buddies who is being recruited for basketball sat in when he met with the coaches just to kill time before his own visit started, and he was also quite impressed with them and said he would go there if he was looking to play football.  Based on that, I'm guessing that there are probably a lot of kids who are taking a closer look at Simpson.

Wow that would be a shake up to see your brother down at Simpson.  You know as well as I do that Glogowski was impressive when he interviewed at BVU.  If that happens will the other SOB boys follow suit.  You talked as though there were many who might be looking to attend BVU?

I know a lot of guys know and like Coach Glo from a camp they went to at USD, so I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to take a look as well.  As far as my brother goes, I advised him to make an overnight visit at both places and wait for financial aid before he makes a decision.  Hopefully he listens because I know a lot of people who have gotten burned by choosing a school based only on the coach, who may not be the same person in practice as he is on the recruiting trail.  I'd like to see him go to BV, but of course I'll support the Storm in every game but one each year if he goes that route.

I would say your advice is very wise.  I myself understand what making a college decision based on a coach is all about.  It would be interesting to compare Indianola nightlife to Storm Lake nightlife.  It will aslo be interesting to see who comes up with the better financial aid package.

As I have the day off for a federal holiday got on the Simpson website to look at the Coaching staff. They look very young and that could help in recurit, in relating to the kids coming in and the ones they are trying to recurit. It will be interesting to see who else they get for coach's as they only had four on their web not counting the head coach. Does anyone know if any of the old staff is staying or is he getting all new coach's?

Ferguson is from the old staff

Alfredeneumann

Klopenhiemer - Luther soccer.
Coach Menlo had built a successful program, but like quite a few LC teams middle of the pack was about it.  Recently he'd been passed by Loras, Wart + Central w/ men and Loras + Wart w/ women.  NOT knowing but I'd guess it was "time for a change"

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Storm-what?

That is all the coaches Simpson has. Anyone else that helps out is part time. Do the other colleges have more full timers?  Simpson definitely looks young and energetic in their recruiting!

Is he the only one that was kept or don't they show the part time coaching staff. I agree with you from your last post that as young as they are it will probably help in recruiting.

alfredeneumann, I saw in one of your posts that the recruit for the burg were impressed with the new W. Stupid question is it helping with the recruits or is it to early to tell?

I just viewed the St. John's FB highlight tape on Youtube.  They even found more than a couple plays from the stomping applied by the Dutch.  So I would imagine there is a way for 2-9 teams to get a decent highlight reel.  I'll be anxious to see the Wartburg reel that Sportsknight will put up a one of the best in DIII.  The Central video's I've seen has been almost exclusively pressbox video, as was St. John's, so if the Warts have a videographer on the sideline for all games I'm dammed impressed.
Both '01 and '02 are shot exclusively from the sideline with the exception of games that were aired on TV. Some of those have wide-angle shots.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Too bad highlight tapes don't win national championships.
Definitely better highlight tapes at Wartburg than St. Johns.
I suppose that's what you get when you have a pretty good communication arts program and a few of those guys happen to be on the football team.
Maybe we need to start comparing football posters.

04,05,06 were shot exclusively from the sideline except for a couple of shots in the play off game in 04 and the BV game I believe in 05.

I knew as of late that they were middle of the pack and had been passed by Loras and Wartburg on the mens side.  I do remember seeing some Luther College teams between the 2000-2004 being very solid and conference contenders.  I was more interested in who they might have for candidates.  If you can give any insight into that, it would be interesting.

Keep those coming 2k4? Any word on where Timmy will be the gradass at next year?
Dutchie1- You still at Wells or are you somewhere else now?

I left Wells Fargo about 6 months ago. I'm now working in the marketing department of a legal insurance firm, ARAG. Ah, good old Hells Fargo, er, Wells Fargo. :) Do you still talk to my orange clad former co-worker?  ;D

Dutchfan1 What division of WF were you with? I am currently employed with the Well and just living the dream :). Just curious, seems like a lot of CUI grads end up here. I also work with several others from the IIAC. I think we have one from just about every school represented.

Considering that Wells employs roughly half of Des Moines, that doesn't surprise me. :) I worked as a Fraud Prevention Specialist for Cards, dealing with card theft and Identity Theft and such. Interesting stuff...

I hope you're not one of the 100+ getting laid off....

I really enjoyed working Id theft for appoximately 7yrs made alot of contact in the credit  card companys. I didn't work for a bank. It was like putting a puzzle together. I just enjoyed but those people behind bars

Never got alot of cooperation from WF. They were real hard to work with. But I also should say I made a contact out of MN and he was a real help.

That sounds about right.....  ;D
