On the Wabash-Coe debate.  I played for the Rams and coached at DePauw for a year, which is Wabash's big rival game.  Facilities wise Wabash has the upper hand, and the Coe-Cornell game doesn't even compare to the Wabash-DePauw game.  I coached there in '06 and they sell somewhere around 10,000 tickets to the games and they are sold out faster than you can say Monon Bell.  They have to bring extra bleachers for the game and it's the closest thing to a D-1 game that I have ever seen at the D3 level.  Conference wise I still think the IIAC is more competitive top to bottom, and as far as talent wise, it's tough to say, I'd say they would be pretty even.  Wabash has been a more recognizable name as they have made the playoffs pretty consistently with some good finishes in the playoffs.  The only drawback is that it's an all-boys school....how'd that treat ya BashBacker   ;).  I guess if you were looking for more name recognition and a better chance to move to a higher level, like Creighton did, then it's probably a good move.

Wabash would be closer to home for Raeburn.  Would likely be able to pay him more money.  The last coach there moved up to 1-AA.  Apparently has better facilities.  Most likely doesn't have a Quaker Oats plant near by to stink up the air!!!

If I were Raeburn I would at least give it a look see.  It can turn into a problem though if it looks like a schools coach is ALWAYS looking for another job.

So I'm thinking if Raeburn did leave.  We have Purple Heys sitting in Cali with D-II and D-III coaching experiance.  Just think of the fun we could have on here joking with him about coaching at Coe while his son played down the road for Cornell  ;D ;D ;D

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

So coocoo is actually Lt. Col Kilgore!!!  Former Air Cav officer that served in Vietnam...I knew it.

You know, there are days when it doesn't smell all that bad I have to admit.  And when the wind is right we can smell it up here in La Porte City!!!

I don't know anything about the Raeburn situation except for the fact that the AD is John Chandler not Chancellor, and as long as he is the AD at Coe I have no worries about the Kohawks.

I saw Raeburn in full Kohawk attire at the Iowa Conference Wrestilng duals.

What is so bad about the facilities?  No one has a better pool, no one has a better raquet center, and not all the schools have field turf, but Coe does.  Does anyone have a better softball field?  Who has a better indoor track?  I don't know what is wrong with Eby either, especially after the upgrade.

Loras you don't have a better pool. Just in case it is argued.

Again, not worried at all.

Discussion overhead between Doolittle and PH

Purple Heys: Dooey Dog, what is the worst campus in the IIAC?
Doolittle Dog: Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way.
Purple Heys: Cut the horsebleep, son. I've got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.
Doolittle Dog: You're talking about Coe, sir.
Purple Heys: Of course I'm talking about Coe, you TWERP!

;D ;D

A lifetime supply of Crunchberries is a powerful incentive...    ;)

On Reaburn:
I agree that you don't have to necessarly like your coach, but you do have to respect him.  Reaburn kind of demands respect from players, the same way some coach at Texas Tech would (extreme example, Reaburn doens't hold the record for number of wins).  I know a lot of guys that didn't like him but liked to play for him becuase he was a pretty good coach, although he does have a lot of tendencies.  I don't know a lot about Wabash, but wouldn't that have been a lateral move?  Are they that much better then Coe?  Just a question I truely didn't know.

Heys: I just saw on Mythbusters the other night that you can throw dynomite in a calm pond or river and create enough of a wave that you could get a small amount of surf from it.

I saw that too...they proved that the wave wasn't surfable...Shape counts!  The river rock wake thing is promising though...   8)

You guys need to head down to the Shack Tavern and try out the roller dam on the Cedar River.  Surfs up!

Thats a bleu cheeseburger, Doolittle. The blue spots on your cheese should be cut off and discarded.

I was looking at that right as I hit the send button...then figured what the heck, most everyone wouldn't notice...except Thunderbolt!!!

Did I ever tell you the story about how I found out the hard way you shouldn't eat moldy cheese wiz???  On second thought...that's a story better left untold!!!

How many days is it untill spring practice?  As I look out my window to see a blowing snow storm outside  >:(

Just thought you'd like the two cents about the "blue" "bleu" thing.  The sign on the Maytag Farms sign (the makers of Maytag Blue Cheese) is spelled blue.  So I don't think any one is wrong on this.  If I could figure out how to post a picture I could post a picture of the Maytag sign.

Coe College President:  We can offer you $65,000 per year to be Head Football Coach Mr. Heys
Purple Heys:  I'll take $60,000 plus all the Crunch Berries my family and I can eat!!!
Coe College President:  Consider it done.
Purple Heys:  Sweet!!!

It's comments like that which make me enjoy the single life.  Nothing like sitting back and cracking open a cold Schell's Premium Grainbelt while watching Rocky IV and not have it be interrupted by someone coming in and making me watch "Rent" or "Love Actually".

Looks like most of you down in Iowa are missing out on a big storm.  It was nice to get some warmer temps for a day or two.  I've had a tough day at working looking online to book rooms in Vegas for a work conference...man I wish it was summer.

Grainbelt.  Now that is a mighty fine choice of beer.  After a couple Grainbelts at night (bootlegged into Chicago) it does not matter what my wife says.  Life is good!
