Two Things

1.)  Coe will never be accused of having brain surgeon football players, only two academic all americans in Raeburns tenure.

2.)  Purple Heys will accept the head coaching position at Coe College effective immediatley.  DooDog will be his assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.  Walston Hoover has had a change of heart and will be the d-coordinator.

That is all.

Tommy Breitbach was robbed or he would have been the third. And you have to give Raeburn some credit for producing an NFL player.

More to come as I sort through my thoughts, but I think Raeburn -- and Coe -- has been given a bum rap on this board. Posters seem to be of the mindset that it's a bad thing when other schools express interest in your coach. I think it's the ultimate compliment.

Wabash got a good one. And Coe will again. Purple Heys need not apply.

I think all three programs catch a break, with having spring practice this year. I'm sure Coe has been preparing for this possibility. They are returning enough talent to make that job pretty attractive.

Charlie,

3 Things.

1.)  The brain surgeon thing deserved a smiley face to show it was very light hearted.

2.)  These opions are being formed from Cornell, BV, UD, Dutch, and Knight views.  All of us on one occasion or the other over the last week have straight up called out the Coe faithful.  We were almost begging at points to hear what you people where thinking.

3.)  Having your head football coach be sought after is a great compliment.  See Coach Kirk Ferzent at the U of I.  Having your coach seek other postions and apply for other positions is a whole differnt ball game.

Should have read who their new head coach will be. Need to stay away from the bottle or proof read my post

Your spelling is a great compliment to your college. What exactly are opions?

And another thing, what gives you the authority to call anyone out? None of the Coe faithful have any obligation to respond to your uninformed opinions.

CK,

I do not think you are understanding what I am saying.  Maybe calling out was not the right word.  So let me rephrase this to say asked for your opinion.  Is that better?  I thought that was the point of a message board, ask a question and people respond.  So if you and your people do not respond, then we have every right to form our own opinions.  Does that make more sense?

Thanks for the spell check Webster.

+k klop!

CK gets his dictionary out when things get tough for the Kohawks. I know from personal experience.

Good Luck to Coach Raeburn. I hope Wabash is the job he's wanted all his life.

Touche daddy! My apologies to the board for my emotional outburst. It hurts losing Raeburn, who (or whom) I respect and admire. But eight years is a good run, especially for someone with no ties to your school. Coe is in good shape and Wabash hired a good coach. This is one of those win-win situations.

Best wishes to the Raeburn family. Thanks for the memories.

Walston Hoover

There's a lot of houses in Waverly that need roof work done this summer.
May have to have a booth at Coe's next job fair.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

It wasn't appropriate to give an opinion about the Raeburn situation until the decision was made.  Now that it has been made here is my opinion.

With John Chandler running the sports program Kohawk Nation will have nothing to worry about.  I think one thing he has proven is he knows how to hire talented coaches.

So Klop, since this place is all about answering questions:

Which school's coach had been at their school the longest at the start of the 2007 season?

The answer is Raeburn had been around longer than any other coach in the IIAC, it was just time.

If Raeburn had been around less than half of the other coaches than maybe an eyebrow should be raised.

As far as an opinion about Raeburn:

He was instrumental in our successful transition from the Midwest Conference to the IIAC and for that Coe fans will be eternally grateful.  He was Fred Jackson's coach which adds to his legacy going forward.  He also produced the first playoff win in school history.  I feel he was one of Coe's better coaches.  He's no Moray Eby, however.

Don't the Byrds have a song that sums this all up?  "turn, turn, turn."
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!
