It's too bad there are guys like Suckow or DeMoulin that paint a bad picture of what really went down.   They were cancers on the team and we were all glad when they left.
Allow me to be the first to call BS.

God, Jesus Christ, and Sportsknight, the only three omnipotent beings in the universe.  Thanks for exposing the lies told on this chat board about the inner workings of Coe football.  I am humbled that you chose to use your great and magnificent powers to set us all straight.
Can I get an amen sportsknight
Hallelujah! :-*
Just so we're clear:
CoeNation claims to know what each and every Coe football player thought of Suckow and DeMoulin, and that's cool.
I question that (in the court of law, I would have objected on the grounds of speculation), and I'm the know-it-all.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I know that I don't have to come to Sportsknight defense as he can take care of himself on this post, but to say that everyone on the Coe team was happy to see those two player leave is hard to believe. I can understand that there may be hard feelings that they left, but too say that everyone on the team was happy they left I don't know. Just my opinion.

No matter how they did it, they both did the same thing. I'm sure Coach Raeburn told every high school player Coe is recruiting, along with every player on the roster, that he he was looking for another job and might not be there in the fall.

I don't believe Raeburn was looking for a job, Wabash came after him to start with is my understanding...

If that is true, that's great for Raeburn. But,as it's been reported on this board, there have been rumors that Raeburn has been looking for another position for the last couple of years. And if he was happy at Coe, why did he accept? Successful coaches get offers all the time. I'd bet that Coach Schipper got many lucrative and prestigous offers over the years, but he remained loyal to Central.

Looking outside at all the snow that is coming down got me thinking about weather extremes.

What is the coldest game you can remember playing in or attending?

What is the hottest game you can remember playing in or attending?

Worst field conditions snow?

Worst field condition rain/mud?

Ever not able to make it to a game?

Worst road trip experiance?

Best road trip experiance?  (and that probably shouldn't include any stories about catholic high school girls or cheerleaders)

Let's hear some good stories.

Played in one with wind chill around 0 and snow-hated it.
Played in one wher it rained so hard water was over your ankles on the sideline-loved it.
Worst road trip was any trip over 1/2 hour in a school bus.
Best trip was winning any road game you shouldn't have.

Coldest game of my career was at Coe when I was a sophmore.

Worst field conditions was a Coe when I was a sophmore.

Hotest game always was the season opener at Bethel.  Both in SL and MN.

I'm going to have to agree with Sportsknight on this one. I find it hard to believe that losing players of that caliber would make EVERYONE happy. I'm sure there were feelings of betrayal, but you have to look at WHY they left.

So tell me why.  You Wartburg guys must know why Suckow left.  So why did he leave, exactly.  Your school knows everything so why did he leave.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

As for Reaburn:
I wouldn't say I'm "happy" to see him go.  I do however think Coe's football program will be better off down the road, say 4 years and beyond.  We will also be fine for the next 2 years because of the talent they return, which means if they get a good coach, pretty recognizable, and has some good achievements that he can talk to recruits about they will also be fine on the recruiting trail in the next 2 years, which means Coe won't fall off.  If the new coach is just as good as Raeburn is on the football side of things, which is extremely possible (Raeburn was good, but all coaches have problems/tendencies, which Raeburn had a ton of offensively, tendencies that is), but will most undoubtedly be better then Raeburn with building relationships off the field, and with more then just players, Coe will most likely be "better off" without Raeburn.  He did great things for the school and for the program, but like all coaches, he had his shortcommings.

As for if he was looking for or if they talked with him I don't think it matters.  It was going to be his time either this year or in the very near future.  A person like Raeburn, with how competative he is, will never be satisfied where he is.  He will always want something better no matter where at.  (unless he eventually gets his dream job at Mt. Union)
Whether or not he was looking, I know that he was very emotional with his players/coaches in telling them he was going to be leaving, which could be/ is a suprise to former players.  I have no doubt that it was a hard decision for him to pack up, but like I said, the man will never be satisfied, which is not a bad thing in life.

Tekippe was/is better then Demoulin.  It was Tekippe's team before he got hurt and when he eventually came back.  If Tebow would have got hurt this year do you think Meyer would have had doubt in his QB next year?  It was apparant that Tekippe would be the starter this year becuase he had "it" more then Demoulin, especially when he acme back and started splitting time with Demoulin at the end of the year when he came back.  Players wanted Tekippe in there no matter what.

I tryed to find out a answer to that very question during the season, talked to players and parents and no one knows or were saying. Never claim to know everything

Weird thing for me is that as far as IIAC games go it has been pretty much nice and sunny and neither too hot or too cold for any game home or away I have attended.  I was working in Bremer county doing some inspections the day of the 2006 UD/Wartburg game and seriously thought about heading over to the game but ended up not doing it so I could finish up my work all in one day.  2007 UD at Cornell was just slightly raining so we stood under a tree until it stopped.  That is as extreme as it has been for me for IIAC games.
